He voted for Trump. Now his wife sits in an ICE detention center. 🌮 🏆

That's what he gets for marrying an ILLEGAL ALIEN 👽

- Bradley Bartell and Camila Muñoz had a familiar small-town love story, before they collided with immigration politics.

They met through mutual friends, had a first date at the local steakhouse, married after two years and were saving to buy a house and have kids. Muñoz was already caring for Bartell's now 12-year-old son as her own.

But last month, on their way home to Wisconsin after honeymooning in Puerto Rico, an immigration agent pulled Muñoz aside in the airport.

"Are you an American citizen?" asked the agent. She answered no, she wasn't. She's from Peru. But she and her husband had taken the legal steps so that one day she might get U.S. citizenship.

In addition to Muñoz, USA TODAY has confirmed through attorneys, family members and documents that ICE has detained for weeks:

  • A woman in her 50s who has lived in the country more than 30 years and is married to a U.S. citizen.
  • A woman in her 30s with proof of valid permanent legal residency, whose father and siblings are U.S. citizens, and who first came to the U.S. as a teen.
  • A European woman in her 30s engaged to a U.S. citizen who overstayed her visa when she was 21.
  • A woman engaged to a U.S. legal permanent resident, with whom she has lived for nine years.

I don't get why some of you are celebrating some of these detainments and/or deportations.  While on an intellectual level I can say that all illegals should be deported, that's not the humanistic reality.  Some of these cases are heartbreaking to me.  As much as possible we should focus on the recent border crossers Biden let walk in, and criminals of any length of time here.  But going after people who are married to Americans and have been here 30 years?  Not a priority and, if we can get the situation under control, it would be nice if we could find a compromise on those type of illegals.  All that being said, I blame our government for putting us in this situation in the first place.  If we just secured our border and enforced immigration law it would be a minor issue and not one that may have decided a Presidential election.

As much as I usually strongly disagree with you on this topic I give you credit for this post.
However, your question as to why this sort of thing is being celebrated is easily answered: many of these people have a very different motivation than yours, which I have tried to tell you all along and which you angrily took umbrage with. Quite simply, the celebration is rooted in racism and white supremacy.

Thread is a twofer: both mean-spirted (celebrating deportations of those married to US citizens who have been law abiding citizens since arriving in the country) and racist (see taco emoji).

Told you all this was going to happen, it wasn't just to be the criminals that ICE and Trump would be going after.

Americans voted for Mass Deportations, that's what this is. You can't pick and choose who goes.

Yes, it's sad in rare cases but she knew the possibility was there.

For once would you just shut the Fock up?  You're as bad as they are.  You may not celebrate it, but you and people like you are enablers in the deaths of people like Laken Riley.  So you can get off your high horse and STFU on this issue.

There is some of this.  I would also add there is a toxic culture of owning the libs/putting down others/superiority/Alpha/bully/etc

This is a direct result of Trump's personality disorder and has manifested itself in his cult followers.

You are an enabler. All though, I do think you may be to unaware of who you are to know it.

You walk blind in life.

I think, in reality, you are special needs mentally. And I really believe that.

Trump has run a flawless administration thus far.  As always, there is probably more to the story. Are they being held as spies?  Did the husband turn his wife in to save money on a divorce?  Regardless, the Trump Administration has more than earned the benefit of the doubt and they deserve grace in these toss up situations.

Maximum Overkill is a child. This is the only thing he can remotely look at his life and think he is winning- something someone else does. He is a loser who supports pedophiles as long as they are MAGA.

On the topic at hand however- look there are clearly bad people here that should be sent out. There are good people here that will get caught up in this. This woman was one of the latter group.

Yes, Illegal Aliens commit crimes against real Americans every day.

You look nice so you can stay, you're a murderer so you have to go. Wait, your both illegal and shouldn't be here. There can't be a line

I was merely trying to draw the family tree of how Riley Laken and Laken Riley were related.

I thought if you were married to a US citizen, you inherited citizenship.  I guess they didn't file the right paperwork?

Here is why. You have been here 30 focking years and you’re married to an American citizen. 30 focking years and you never even bothered to become legal. It’s simple paperwork. So we can keep posting these sob stories to get the left riled up or we can go back to a basic fundamental I live by.  Personal responsibility

They are all breaking immigration laws and should be deported, except for the one with proof of legal residency.

Indeed amen thanks
