Ignorant talking points.

They tried this in Arkansas and it didn't go well. https://www.healthaffairs.org/doi/10.1377/hlthaff.2020.00538

The result will be economic and physical painon the poorest and most vulnerable so that the elites can get an extra boat.  That's unconscionable.

The boat for the rich is built by the poor.  It is often docked at a marina employing the poor.  it is cleaned, fixed, sailed and maintained by the poor.

Of course they are eligible but you're moving the goalposts which is what you do when you get called out on your BS.  We're talking about cutting Medical care to poor people so rich people can buy another boat.  You support this.

This is why you appear to have mental health issues.  You agree there are people on ssdi that are scamming. These same people are on Medicaid for their health benefits. Ergo, they are scamming Medicaid. Now shut up.

Bruh.  Youre defending cutting Medicaid because some people might fraudently receive sdi and thus might also be on Medicaid?  Why not just crack down on sdi fraud?

Idiot.

The lengths you go to defend the rich people that look down on you is hilarious.  Cuck.

They don't get a tax increase but rather they lose services in the form of Medicaid and snap.  The overall effect of the bill is negative on those under $50k and very positive to those over $400k.  Redistributes wealth from the bottom to the top.

The talking points say they are getting a tax increase.

Well that's not true, but they are going to end the year with less savings, or more debt.

Raising the standard deduction is good & there's other great news for people like myself who are retired, have to provide their own health insurance, but are years away from Medicare.

That's the special HSA available for those who have high deductible health insurance plans. I was able to contribute the maximum ($5300) this year. These HSA's are unique in that they offer a triple tax advantage. You put money in on a tax-free basis, the money builds up tax-free, & lets it come out tax-free for qualified healthcare expenses. This new bill will allow me to contribute $8600 next year.

If there's money left in the account when you reach age 65, you can still use it for Medicare premiums, deductibles, coinsurance, long-term care expenses, including insurance premiums.

After you reach age 65, If you spend it on something that doesn't qualify, you'll no longer face the 20% penalty for non-qualified withdrawals, although you'll still need to pay ordinary federal income tax on those funds. Really no different than a conventional IRA in that case.

Thanks again for this.  Do not know why I thought HSA contributions were dependent on employment.  I got one of my bank accounts linked up to Fidelity and got in the $9,550 max. Easy.   If that doubles with this bill that's a nice little chunk to help out with converting as much as I can of my 401K over the next decade.

It doesn't require earned income like a regular IRA contribution does, correct?

You don’t know a single smart person who couldn’t outright pay for their college education without loans?

No. That was the dumbest thing I’ve seen someone say in weeks, so I thought I’d ask. Carry on.

It was nice to go to a decent State school back in the 90’s for like $1800 a semester for a full load. Think my rent was around 300 a month, always worked in a kitchen or had roommates who did so food was free or cheap, friends who worked in bars, case of warm Hamm’s was like 5 bucks. 18 thousand college age nubiles running around.

What a time of life!

Yup.  I went out of state in the early 90s for like $12k/year.  Rent was $250.  I could get 2 hot dogs from the Sunoco for $1, free wing night with purchase of $1 beer, $2.50 sandwichs at the local deli, $10 carton of smokes, $4 case of Natty Boh

No doubt the Senate's version will be much better than the House's, but who knows if it'll be able to get reconciled with the House version, which required much pirouetting and arm twisting, (as well as the vacancies caused by three dead Democrats), in order to squeak by by one vote.

If they lose just one vote on reconciliation, they're focked.

There were 2 Republicans that didn't vote last time.

OK and I see those were two more yes votes when it comes around again.

(plus a present and two 'no's. Massey is right out but it may be possible to flip the other two, with Senate changes, but that risks losing other yeses elsewhere)

Whatever.  I’ve come to grips with how focked our system is, I’m just grateful that the border was secured and we are getting rid of many bad tacos.

50 million on Medicaid in 2011.  80 million now. The weaklings are against increasing check in requirements for Medicaid. Of course they are.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson spent the weekend lying about how this bill doesn't increase the debt by one penny.  The same bill that increases the debt limit.

And then Joni Ernst when asked about Americans dying due to the medicaid cuts tells us we're all gonna die someday.

Great message by Republicans.  Blue Wave Midterm on the way.

Run up deficit, tax cuts, complain about government…when Dems are in charge go apoplectic about the deficit. That’s the tried and true GOP game plan.

No but they were serious this time.  They create DOGE and we were gonna get $2T in savings and use that money to pay off the debt and give people money.

whoops.
