Police chiefs saying that they have a good history of working with ICE, but then going into detail about how this particular operation by ICE has resulted in multiple off-duty officers stopped by ICE. Every officer stopped was a person of color.

So, there wasn’t a hostility towards ICE from the police going into this. But now ICE has burned that bridge.

I just wanted to highlight this because many people think local police were unhelpful, which forced ICE to do such an operation. To the contrary, they had been working with ICE until these mass operations gone wrong.

Update on this. Finally crunched some numbers, which don't include new MN paid leave, only the already instituted Paid Safe and Sick Leave (PSSL is a pisser) law.

The last two months, I've lost 7.5% of my labor to absences covered by PSSL. That means if someone on staff has an available PTO balance, they can not show up to work, get paid for it, and have zero repercussions from their employer. Meanwhile they're screwing over their coworkers that do show up to work, which ruins morale amongst good employees, who are tired of picking up their slack. 

Then you throw in the ICE-related absences by people claiming they're too scared to come to work, their coworkers who catch wind of what's going on and then don't show up themselves because they don't wanna deal with the extra workload, and our operations are falling apart. A perfect storm of unaccountability, ignorance, and idiocy by state and federal leadership. Complete clusterfuck.

In my case, it is the lazy ass white women that are "afraid".   My son's daycare has now closed 3 separate days because of "ice activity".  But it is not the Latino women who work there that are refusing to go to work.  It's all of the white women.

Latina and black women are used to mistreatment by police, they sadly have learned to live with it. It's a new feeling for the white ladies.
