Trump threatens federal takeover of DC after attack on former DOGE worker

WASHINGTON (AP) — Two 15-year-olds have been arrested in Washington in connection with the attempted carjacking and beating of one of the most prominent members of the Department of Government Efficiency, renewing calls from President Donald Trump for the federal government to seize control of the nation’s capital.

The victim, Edward Coristine, nicknamed “Big Balls,” was among the most visible figures of Trump’s DOGE, which was tasked with slashing federal bureaucracy.

Coristine was assaulted around 3 a.m. Sunday in the city’s Logan Circle neighborhood by a group of teenagers attempting to carjack him and a woman whom police identified as his significant other, according to authorities.

The Metropolitan Police Department said the group approached the couple’s car and made a comment about taking it. Coristine pushed the woman into the vehicle for safety and turned to confront the group. At least several of the teens then attacked him, police said, until officers patrolling nearby intervened. As officers moved toward the group, the teens fled on foot.

Two 15-year-olds from Maryland were arrested on charges of unarmed carjacking, police said.

The attack gave new fuel to long-standing Republican efforts to challenge Washington’s autonomy, with Trump threatening to bypass local authority and impose direct federal control over the city.

In a social media post and remarks at the White House on Tuesday, the president described crime in Washington as “out of control.”

“If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that they’re not going to get away with it anymore,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

Once when visiting DC my GF and I were heading out for dinner and called a cab. Outside our hotel, when the cab came, I misspoke and told him the address where we were going and the cabbie just said "No. Goodbye." And he left instantly. He was an Indian dude. A few seconds later I realized I gave the right address, but wrong quadrant of the city. 

We called another cab and after correcting my mistake on the quadrant, , he took us to the restaurant. I'm thankful that first cabbie took off so we weren't dropped off in DC hell.

WASHINGTON − President Donald Trump ordered an increased federal law enforcement presence across the streets of Washington, D.C. for the next week as he railed against the city's crime rate and continued to float a federal takeover of the nation's capital.

Trump directed the unspecified number of federal agents on the night of Thursday Aug. 7, just days after an assault on a high-profile staffer of Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old nicknamed "BigBalls," was attacked by a group of teenagers during an early morning attempted carjacking last weekend.

"The Crime situation in Washington, just like our Southern Border where ZERO Illegals entered in the last three months, will be a safe place very soon," Trump said in an Aug. 7 social media post that highlighted the attack on Coristine. "Thank you for your bravery and heart."

Federal law enforcement officials will concentrate in high-trafficked tourist areas and "other known hotspots," the White House said. It will begin as a seven-day effort with an option for Trump to extend "as needed." The additional federal officers are to be identified in marked units, according to the White House.

The increased federal law enforcement presence will be led by the U.S. Park Police, with officers from about a dozen other federal agencies also assisting. This includes the U.S. Capitol Police, the Amtrak Police Department, U.S. Marshals Service,  Homeland Security Investigations, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

The move follows an executive order Trump signed in March that established a "Making D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force" composed of federal department heads who were instructed to "maximize resources" to make the District of Columbia safe.

Big Balls probably deserved a beating for being a little dooshbag, but not if he was just driving around. He was of course still being a dooshbag as it is his natural state, but these criminals would not know that and were just being scumbag lowlifes.

They definitely deserve to be taken to task about that. Have at it.

They also didn’t spend years cultivating the belief that the leadership of the Democratic Party drank kid’s blood that they harvest through a global cabal and communicate via coded messages in email.

They didn’t put podcasters in charge of our highest IC and law enforcing agencies who just last year bragged about how they would release all this information, hold press conferences with binders of make believe files that were to be released any day now!! insist that because the files were not being released that obviously the people in power doing this were guilty, etc…
