Boycott Cracker Barrel!

Recommended Posts

I would never have noticed the logo had changed.

BTW, are the gays and libs still boycotting Chik-Fil-A and Hobby Lobby?

Chick-Fil-A boycott from the left ended years ago after the company discontinued funding to Anti-LGBTQ groups.

However, more recently, in 2023, calls for boycotts came from the right, targeting the company's newly appointed Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) executive, viewing it as a "woke" corporate shift.  😁

You’re right on restaurants and people cooking. Can’t really blame women for two-income homes. Not many families can subsist on one income these days.

Actually you can blame women for two income homes. It was the feminist movement that caused it

Culture war BS, a phenomenon set up to divide people that should have like 90% of things in common.

From a business aspect, really bad decision. Lean into your brand. Differentiation is what a business should usually strive for, with some exceptions. But when your brand is meant to be distinctive in some way, removing that is among the dumber things to do.

Agreed.  Not sure why the left decided to set it up and start it.  :dunno:

I follow people on both sides of the aisle.  That’s what a moderate does, you wouldn’t know about that.

And yet somehow, you never encounter a single post supporting Israel or speaking poorly of Hamas, UNRWA, or the Hamas operatives that IDF has killed.

It's yet another conundrum wrapped in an enigma.  :dunno:

I take it you haven’t listened to the Megyn Kelly clip I posted in the Gaza thread. She speaks poorly of Hamas (as I have numerous times), but also is starting to question Israel.  Similar to how folks (except for you and Strike) can separate Israel from Jews, they can also separate Hamas’s actions from Israel’s actions.   Just because Hamas is worse doesn’t excuse everything that Israel does.

lol pretty sure I hadn’t even tagged you in awhile.  You have posted DC Draino stuff here numerous times.  And yes, he posts what he gets paid to post:

…To that point…Maybe Denny’s is paying right wing influencers to get mad about Cracker Barrel?

Your response to my statement is a Megyn Kelly clip that supports your side?

This is why you need to get off Twitter and the like - You can find a vocal group to make any cause look significant.  It just feeds confirmation bias, especially for a noted centrist just looking for the truth such as yourself.

Do you even fathom how many people read this forum but don't post, or post but avoid the political threads?  IOW, even here you're getting a subset that feeds your confirmation bias.  Here's a tip - Read multiple actual news sites and form your own opinions, and don't worry about what others say online.  And avoid gaming chat rooms.

Far more conservatives complaining about this than libs complaining about Sydney Sweeney and American Eagle.

Off the top of my head, well known folks complaining about this include:

Jack Posobiec

Benny Johnson

“Amuse”

Anna Paulina Luna

Charlie Kirk

Glenn Beck

Chad Prather

All of these people are major grifters, of course they are going to be "offended".  It's good for business.

Better tell the Trump admin that, at least three of them probably more have been invited to the White House, and that’s not counting the one that’s in Congress.

Sales were already way down, the renovations were a good idea.

If the service you received was an accurate representation, is it any wonder sales have been trending down ?

And if that's true, what good is renovating going to do ?

It’s not a theory. It’s an economic fact. The feminist movement encouraged more and more women to enter the workplace. Most would think that would be extra income but the reality is the costs of goods and housing skyrocketed because of this.  You used to be able to live off a single income household prior to that

I’m not sure how people that read but don’t post are relevant to this discussion…clearly I’m only referring to actual posts.

Hopefully the people saying that no one actually cares about this thought that a significant number of libs cared about the Sydney Sweeney jeans ad though…

Yeah when I was growing up Dad went to work and Mom stayed home. You could live off one income. Today it usually takes 2, sometimes with a side hustle.

Tim thinks conservatives are the complaining group.  Meanwhile, the very existence of progressives is to complain enough to enact change, or "progress," vs. the status quo.

It's not the only factor, but it absolutely is a factor.  To say otherwise is to ignore basic economics.  :dunno:

Things are changing on the West Bank and in Iran, that's for sure. First you have to support our strongest ally. It's about time that the terrorists were delt with. And to stop Iran from getting the Bomb. We may have set WWIII back quite a bit.

I read an article a number of years ago that talked about this from a slightly different perspective.  Things you have to pay for when that extra person works:

- Work wardrobe.  Especially in a professional environment, the cost for appropriate work attire is not insignificant.

- Another car.  Many households can get by with one less vehicle, or an older one in place of replacing it as often, if one of the parents doesn't work.

- Child care.  Most two parent working households have to pay for child care, at least early on.

- There are more

So the question becomes how much more income does the household actually earn relative to the added expenses for the 2nd working parent?  And this doesn't take in to account the advantages of having a parent home with their children during the day.

June 2023: Cracker Barrel posted a positive pride message on its Facebook account. The article also stated the restaurant chain had been celebrating pride & pushing rainbow-themed products for the last few years. Knowing that, we'll assume they started celebrating pride mid 2021. Shares were trading around $150 at that time.

On May 17, 2024, the company slashed the dividend by 81%. Shares are trading at $54 & change today. Is going rainbow entirely to blame for a company slashing its dividend by 81% & losing almost 2/3 of their market value ? probably not, but I bet it was a major contributor. Changing the corporate logo seems like a cry for help.

The right are the primary ones complaining about it.  They may not be specifically calling to boycott, but they are saying the reason the idea is bad is because of woke.

@MDC mentioned Matt Walsh as one example.  Some others:

for @RaiderHaters Revenge

The arguments they're making, aren't wrong.  Pointing out what's happening isn't "complaining" or calling for a boycott.
