So you weren't really looking for an answer to your question;  you just wanted to argue with a specific person.  Gotcha.

Asking private companies to stop spreading lies for the benefit of public health is just as bad as the FCC taking away the license of a broadcaster because a comic said something that hurt the presidents feelings?

Yes. This is equal in MAGAland. It was fairly obvious early on in the pandemic that they only care about themselves and their own selfish desires. The health of others did not matter if their lives were going to be affected in the least. I saw that up close.

During his monologue, he said that "...the shooter was a pro-Trump Republican".  It was already reported earlier that this was not the case.  According to FCC guidelines, that's a big no-no.

From that pdf:
"The FCC prohibits broadcasting false information about a crime or a catastrophe if the broadcaster knows the information is false and will cause substantial “public harm” if aired."

Also in link:
"Broadcasting false content during news programming The FCC is prohibited by law from engaging in censorship or infringing on First Amendment rights of the press. It is, however, illegal for broadcasters to intentionally distort the news, and the FCC may act on complaints if there is documented evidence of such behavior from persons with direct personal knowledge."

The FCC only brought this to the attention of Sinclair/ABC/Disney... they're the ones who took action.

Thanks.

Meaning, he lied on air, about a news topic.  He did it on purpose.  It was intentional.

Quote

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Fun fact- the words "pro" "Trump" and "Republican" are not in there. I mean- look I've given Trump credit in the past for saying controversial things but avoiding crossing the line into spots where he can be pressed on things. Kimmel did the same here.

When did they officially rule on a motive or anything for the killer? Did it happen that weekend before? Did it happen after the monologue?

Liberals hate the law being used. They prefer making it up. The especially like feel turning federal felonies into local misdemeanors. And they especially love when the number 3 at DOJ leaves for an assistant job at a local DA’s office.  Lol. GFY.

I don't recall anyone saying that and Kirk obviously didn't say that.

Kirk did say... “If I see a Black pilot, I’m gonna be like, ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’”

He also said... "You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to be taken somewhat seriously.”

You're correct... I paraphrased and quoted him.  My bad.  The point remains, Kimmel lied.

Kimmel said:

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

A couple of things...

1) When has a far leftist ever say say "MAGA" and NOT refer to that person being a Trump supporter?
2) When saying "trying to characterize... anything other than one of them", isn't that saying this kid "IS a Trump supporter?

The answers to those questions (in order), is: Never and Yes.  So, my paraphrase was correct, I just shouldn't have quoted it.  Again, my bad.

So... again.... he lied, on purpose, about news related topics concerning a crime.

Again though- Trump does this all the time. He says things where it is implicitly clear what he is talking about but he never outright says the thing because that would cause legal trouble. Kimmel did the same thing here so he's good by letter of the law

Trump isn't a host on a platform governed by the FCC.  He is not subject to the regulations ABC and Kimmel are.  It's not an apples to apples comparison.

What he said was not a lie, it's exactly what happened, we saw it on this board.

Regardless, let's just assume he lied..

From that pdf:
"The FCC prohibits broadcasting false information about a crime or a catastrophe if the broadcaster knows the information is false and will cause substantial “public harm” if aired."

Did the lie cause substantial public harm?  That's a big no.

If that's the benchmark, why stop at Trump?  That's every politician.  Yeah, I said "every", not just some.

To answer your question, it's because that's not under the purview if the FCC.

He is subject to the law. And again- depending on when things were officially known- Kimmel didn't "lie" per se

Discussing if Covid came from the Wuhan Covid lab was a detriment to public health?

Young healthy people don't need jabs too.  Couldn't say that.

Saying the jab won't prevent you from getting covid.  Best part about that one was there was a minute when they finally had to admit it, a bunch of covidians were all like, "well of course a vaccine doesn't keep you from getting the disease, duh!!!"

Anyone who brought up myocarditis...

Don't say lockdowns weren't necessary.

And not covid, but not sure how hunter's laptop implicating Biden in a pay for access scheme had anything to do with public health.

You guys are finally getting to the best argument.  Not winnable, but better than claiming abc fired him for cause.

But while it's better, I would need more...

1. It's not a news program.  It's a comedy show.

2. What public harm?

He's saying it's stupid because he hasn't been given the counter talking points yet.  It's not dumb at all.  It's probably just a misapplication of the law.

I would also argue this is an overreach of the application that would set a bad precedent.  Or maybe a good one. 🤔

I guess we could try arguing that even if it is a misapplication of the law, maybe it's necessary to force people to get things correct, but then we'd run into the problem of who gets to decide it's correct.  Nah, it's bad precedent.

Too bad Egregious George bounced.  He was great at this stuff

I reported to work every focking day of that pandemic and witnessed what was going on in the ER and ICU's. It was beyond ugly. People died and blamed those that were attempting to help their loved ones because of the absurd garbage that your boy Trump and his merry gaggle of dipshits spewed about it. That was an ugly, painful time that some of you have successfully memory holed. Not me, I lived it. Healthcare professionals have left the field because of how politicized that time was, and how they were treated by people they were trying to help under astonishingly tough circumstances. These are people that pride themselves on helping others and saving lives. You're insulting our professionalism and integrity. Go to hell.

Anyone following Trump and Kennedy for healthcare advice over places like Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, or Mayo Clinic probably deserves whatever they get. Unfortunately, those dipshits also influence others, like their kids. This administration will end up demolishing our health as a nation because partisan idiots like you can't figure out you're being lied to.
