Wait, I was told the public knows the shutdown is the Democrats’ fault? That certainly shouldn’t have helped them in any elections if so

This is a losing game for Republicans. 3/4 of americans are dumb as rocks. But the subsidies being extended has always been inevitable. I stated on here a long time ago the inevitable compromise will be the subsidies get renewed, nothing from the OBB gets reversed and we move on. These subsidies are one of the worst policy decisions ever, but as always, once we give out money for something, we dont like to stop, no matter how damaging it is to the long term market. FrancieFootball 161 Posted yesterday at 04:27 PM Quote A shutdown falls on the president's lack of leadership. He can't even control his own party and to get people together in a room. A shutdown means the president is weak. - Donald Trump, 2013.

A rare moment of agreement with Mr. Utah. Though I would argue our insistence to continually bail out huge corporations, farmers, banks, and billionaires are far more egregious wastes of money. Grace Under Pressure 165 Posted 23 hours ago “Extending the enhanced premium tax credits would add about $23 billion to the federal deficit in 2026, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).” Trump wants to give $40 billion to the Argentina dictator who kisses his ass. But we don’t have $23 billion to help cover 10 million Americans with health insurance? And we’re shutting down the economy over it? GTFO with that BS. Trump could open the government in 24 hours if he agrees to extend the subsidies, which a MAGA guy says is the inevitable outcome anyway. So explain how this isn’t Trump’s fault? Any American with two brain cells who isn’t in a cult knows this.
SaintsInDome2006 650 Posted 20 hours ago Why do they think this is good politics? - In a crisis politically don’t attach yourself to it. This thing where Trump, Johnson & Vance go live to own this disaster & make threats is just bad, bad politics. It’s like the Trump Covid pressers all over again. Nobody wants planes to crash, stop it. I'm all for safety but I don't believe this is being done for safety. I believe it's just another punishment by the president so he can blame democrats. Same with choosing to end SNAP. The president can end this shutdown today. Get everyone in a room, work out a deal. It's what strong leaders do. He refuses. Also you're wrong on the filibuster, a simple majority ends the filibuster. They just refuse to listen to Trump and do it.

Happy to help. Quote Forced to work without pay: Nearly 13,000 air traffic controllers have been working without pay since the shutdown began. Increased stress and fatigue: The stress of the job is amplified by not being paid, causing controllers to become fatigued and even physically ill. Need for second jobs: Some controllers are taking time off to work second jobs to earn money. "Sick outs": These factors have resulted in an increase in unscheduled absences and "sick outs," where controllers call in sick. Flight disruptions: The unscheduled absences have led to staffing shortages and flight delays, prompting the FAA to reduce air traffic by 10% at some airports to ensure safety. My understanding is that they just cut the flights but it's independent of ATC schedules. They still want the ATCs to show up whenever they can, but some aren't.
