Love me some Red Rocker but gotta go Van Halen !

Just wish they never released 1984. Terrible.

That album is why Diamond Dave went solo. He couldn’t stand the synthesizer bullshit.

Diver Down

Weakest of the Roth era for sure. Instrumentals and covers (mostly).

You think so? I always felt that Diver Down was grossly underrated. Besides Jump, that sucked.

Fair Warning was best IMO

I love 80s hair and voted Dave. That said, I’m not a huge VH fan. Give me Dokken, Great White, KIX, b-side Def Leppard, Motley, L.A. Guns, Cinderella over any version of VH

When you hear one Van Halen song, you heard them all.

Hagar's nephew, and the nephew's daughter, work out at our gym.  The daughter has a smoking body if you can get past the fact that facially she resembles Sammy.  :o

Anyway, we had a fundraiser last weekend for one of the trainers who started treatment for cancer, and they got Sammy to donate a signed bottle of Cabo Wabo reposado.  We won it at a silent auction.  We're having a party in two weeks that will include some folks from the gym, and I plan to crack open the bottle and do some shots in support of the trainer.

She’s not here. It’s what we talked aboot before anal sex. It’s the last question she asked me before I had to bite the pillow.

VAN HAGAR BABY!

Hagar is objectively a better vocalist, lyricist, and songwriter than DLR, not to mention a better musician and all-around human being. VH 1 was a game changing classic, nobody would argue that. But their albums varied drastically in quality for the rest of Roth's tenure. 1984 was a polarizing album, bit it's easily still my 2nd favorite of the DLR era. 5150 and Carnal Knowledge are both better, IMO.

Eat em and Smile and Skyscraper were both great albums, though. Honestly, other than VH's debut, I like most of Roth's solo stuff better than his VH stuff. Steve Vai being close to Eddie's equal in guitar chops helps.

Van Hagar all the way. Dave was an incredible showman but Sammy is a better vocalist,  musician & an all around better rocker. Say what you will but you would all take a Hagar solo album over Diamond Dave vinyl any day.

I really like that album as well. Skyscraper had good music but way too many Roth vocal tracks swooping in from all over. I can see why Steve Vai bailed. Roth had an all-star lineup and blew it. He went right into self-parody after that.

But the last Van Halen album was great.

I disagree with this, I prefer DLR's darker lyrics much more interesting than what Sammy wrote.
