Letting A Vehicle Warm Up In The Winter

Recommended Posts

It's 21° here right now. The kid who goes out with my neighbors daughter has had his late model full-size Chevy 'warming up' on the other side of the street for 1 hour & 3 minutes.

He did the same thing last winter.  I think his record is around 75 minutes. Too bad some of my degenerate gambler friends aren't here, we could make bets on it :)

You sure they are not getting busy in there? I let my cars warm up to clear the windows for 5 to 10 mins.

I'm intrigued that you know how long it has been warming up to the minute.  If you had said "about an hour," that would be one thing.  But one hour, 3 minutes? Kinda stalky.

I recall 15-20 min being sufficient ( 7 month winters in Colorado)

I knew someone would ask that. His truck is really loud when it starts. I was on my desktop when I heard it and noted the time.

He'd have to have huge ones if that was the case. Her father was working on his truck about 25 feet away.

FYI, he didn't break his record from last year. Left after 70 minutes of idling.

Don't most remote starters shut off after 15 minutes?

I've never had one, so I couldn't tell you, but that makes sense.

Why does he want to let it run that long ?

Omg, an ex boyfriend used to warm his car up for 20 min whenever it was cold. So annoying!

I park in my garage in the winter, so no warmup before work. Leaving work, I start my truck 10 minutes early because it's out in the snowy coldness.

I wish the shitlibs here like sissy, saints and gutter hadn’t whined about Strike and had him suspended.  The guy knows his cars.
