Upon successful graduation f8767yrom both CITP and the HSISAT program, trainees are assigned to their field offices as full-fledged HSI special agents."

Not trolling here, but in regard to the ICE shooting of that mother, the agent stepped in front of the vehicle. That's obvious from the video. From everything I read about law-enforcement training, being in front of a running vehicle with a driver behind the wheel is called "the kill zone."

It appears the panicked driver - with the passenger screaming "get out of here," or whatever she reportedly said - put it in reverse, backed up a couple of feet, put it in drive, turned the wheel right and began moving forward. This to me obviously was meant to escape, not weaponizing the vehicle to go after the agent. With the other agent going after her from outside her door and screaming "Get the fock out of the car," I doubt she even saw the other guy step in front of her vehicle.

Based on your training and knowledge, am I completely wrong about this?

If it were me, after she said, "I'm not mad at you," I would have calmly approached the vehicle and said, "I'm not mad at you, either! Now, any chance you could just turn your wheel to the right and toodle on out of here? Otherwise, I'll use the full extent of the law to treat you and your passenger to lunch."

I've actually used that kind of humor to lighten up tense situations. 

Would love your take on that situation.

Yeah it's always so easy/hard to armchair quarterback these.  I usually don't try to.  They happen in a split second.  Literally one second to the next.

Over the years on here guys have asked my opinion on stuff that happens.

All I can say is, as a guy who has been in those type of situations.  Nobody ever wants to shoot anyone.  I have known 1000 cops.   Nobody is itching to shoot.  Just not a real life thing, for the most part.
