Gamer dies during 24 hour Twitch match

Recommended Posts

A father of three died during a 24-hour gaming marathon he was live-streaming to raise money for the Make A Wish foundation. Popular gamer Brian Vigneault, who went under the username Poshybrid, disappeared from view during the 22nd hour of the live stream on gaming network Twitch.

Viewers grew concerned when Vigneault, from Virginia Beach in the USA, failed to return to his webcam after leaving to smoke a cigarette at around 3.30am CST.

At around 11AM moderators and viewers assumed he had fallen asleep, but later the following evening a pal saw him online and sent him a message. He was met with a response from a person claiming to be a detective from the police department, who explained that Mr Vigneault had died.

"This is the police. Poshybrid is dead."

Any chance he died from a drug overdose to stay awake?

I don't get this. staying up 24 hours and not eating or drinking isn't that bad.

I was just up from 9 am last Saturday till 11 am Monday. I was tired AF, but I got plenty of sleep Monday. Thank god it was a holiday.

what a great time that was

Being awake for that long isn't fun but it's not too hard. We had this thing called ETD (extended training day) back when I was going through PJ school. You worked out all day from 5-5. Then went back to the dorms, showered, and went to eat chow. Then had to go back out and continue training until the next day at 5pm. A lot tougher than just playing a game. So I'm led to believe he OD'd

Interesting. I find it extremely odd that a member of law enforcement would be responding to messages sent to him online? Seems very inappropriate.

Also who watches some guy live stream himself plaYong video games for 24 hours? And 24 hours doesn't sound like very much. I mean cool that it was for charity but gimme 2 days at least.

What game?

Doesn't seem real. Why would a LEO even bother with that?

Right I initially wanted to say it was fake or a publicity stunt
