Again, to be clean, by impact - I'm talking about the total number number formerly male trans athletes competing in women's sports. Just anecdotally based on this board, I'm pretty sure I'm hearing about every dang trans athlete issue that comes up. And even if TikTok has decided to censor a video, which is their right, there are millions of outlets that will spread the news everytime some fe(male) wins an event. I said nothing about it being sporting to have a biological advantage and did state " it clearly seems unfair in most situations." I was talking about the self-esteem that comes with participating in sports in general. And please see above about what I meant for impact. For instance I played basketball on the JV team that went 3-17, we were terrible. On top of that there were only 7 total players on the team and I was the last off the bench. On team with only 7 players, 20 games for 640 total minutes of basketball, I scored 10 points. But I still learned the lessons of teamwork, being dedicated and gained the self-esteem of knowing I worked every day during that season and gave it my all the entire time. That's what I mean by self-esteem. I'm not talking any self-esteem(which would be more ego) from the fe(male) who beats her competitors by 50M. On top of gender dysphoria, a person would also be dealing with a massive narcism problem to be proud of that accomplishment. The issue that I have is that I believe sports can be beneficial to all for a variety of reasons of character building reason. I hope that someday there is some kind of equitable solution so that everyone who wants to compete can AND it's on a level playing field. So until that solution presents itself, I'm left with . That doesn't mean I don't see the problem or am ignoring it, I just don't think the solution is black or white. -

I absolutely do not believe they belong in institutions. If they are not a danger to themselves or others there is zero reason for that. You are taking it to excess. I do not think that because they BELIEVE they are a girl it gives them the right to compete in sports against actual girls/women. We need to keep our heads straight here. Saying there is no difference in men and women's bodies is absurd. Instead of celebrating this mental illness we should be getting them therapy. That help includes getting them to love their body. Not trying to help them transition to a different gender. Also. You ever notice that the girls who want to transition are almost always crapper busting fatties who would probably not feel the same if they lost 150lbs and talked to someone other than their 12 cats? We could probably put a giant dent in the "trans" population by just prescribing them ozempic. -

Probably consulted his SO. Hard to say if she consulted with him. Regardless, I don't think we are discussing a candidate for family of the year. Two kids appear to be lashing out for attention, and the parents' (guessing only the SIL, not both parents) response is not only to ignore their alleged trans, but basically abandon them for the summer. -

If we’re talking about people with legitimate gender dysphoria vs. playing make believe, following a trend etc. I don’t think they’re pretending. I think they’re legitimately wired differently. I’d say they have more in common with someone who is gay than someone with multiple personality disorder. I do think a pretty high % of “trans” kids are just confused, following a trend etc. But there are legitimate cases out there of people who were just born the wrong gender. Fwiw I would be fine with a ban on any medical treatment including puberty blockers for minors under the age where they can make independent medical decisions, which is usually 16+ in most states. -

I am not anti-anyone. Literally. I just believe that if we are going to be talking about gender dysphoria that we should be talking about it for what is is. Gender dysphoria(aka Trans) (GD), according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5), is defined as a "marked incongruence between their experienced or expressed gender and the one they were assigned at birth." It is a literal mental illness. -

A few things. Speaking of preheld convictions: what do you think are the preheld convictions of doctors who get into the gender care business? I thought so. Those are the ones supporting surgical and hormonal mutilation of children. The vast majority of doctors just defer to them, because that's what doctors do. Two, it's difficult to prove the lack of existence of something. To my knowledge, most trans child "care" is based on a Scandinavian study (never since replicated) which showed improvement for trans kids after surgery. Problem was, that was a very carefully culled cohort. But based on it, European countries decided that medical intervention was the call for a lot more folks. US followed suit. The European countries have since realized that this was a grievous error, and to a one have backed off on such policies. The US has not reached this obvious conclusion yet, hence why we are having this seemingly idiotic conversation. Three, it is possible to hold multiple views which are not contradictory, all of which I've stated before: 1. There are true trans people, and people with gender dysphoria. We should help those people to the best of our abilities. 2. Such help should not default to medical intervention. That should only be a last resort and after years of counseling/therapy. 3. There is a social contagion going on with young people in our society, particularly with confused girls going through puberty, who take testosterone and, shockingly, feel more assertive and confident. 4. Until we get #3 under control, we should full stop end medical interventions for children. Europe has figured this out, we haven't, and you will find yourself on the wrong side of history. -

We've been through this, and yet you still say it. The AMA is not a scientific organization; it is a political/lobbying organization. Here is an interview with the head of the AMA -- the first openly gay head. Most of the interview is about his being gay and pushing a gay and trans agenda: https://apnews.com/article/american-medical-association-president-bd8b9b9bdb61da2ad00285d83e353d5e Also, it is not the "majority of doctors around the world," the majority of doctors just want to practice their area of medicine and otherwise be left alone. The above interview has the following exchange: It is categorically wrong that hormonal and surgical intervention for children is "evidence-based health care." -

A young surgeon revealed how his hospital was secretly transitioning gender-distressed children. He is now facing federal charges.

Did a little digging, this seems to be a less slanted summary of the issue from USA Today: Is the government silencing Haim for political reasons or for violating HIPAA? The indictment accuses Haim of illegally accessing patient records, and doing so under false pretenses. If that proves to be accurate, Haim needs to be held accountable. However, Haim's objective − to blow the whistle on Texas Children's Hospital − raises the question of whether his alleged wrongdoing should be taken into account, because the hospital continued treatments on transgender minors when it said it would stop. HIPAA violations should be taken seriously. But "up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 maximum possible fine" for exposing the hospital's alleged wrongdoing seems excessive. The care of transgender minors is fraught with complicated issues. Unlike adults, children, who are still legally minors and who in many cases have yet to reach puberty, cannot truly give informed consent and cannot know what they might want when they become adults. It's vital that ongoing discussions take place among medical providers, youth, their families and policymakers. What must be avoided are efforts to silence dissent. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/columnist/2024/06/18/whistleblower-surgeon-trans-kids-gender-affirming-care-texas/74075234007/ It’s an op ed so probably still slanted, but at least this piece mentions that he allegedly violated HIPAA (sort of a big deal). So interesting issue if he broke the law but is a whistleblower. Kinda like Snowden in that regard I guess. -

So, to the case at hand, it seems we have dueling ass holes. On one side, we have a plaintiff who sought this guy out to create this lawsuit. If she wanted a blue and pink cake, she could have asked for that without pointing out the celebration of gender transition. On the other side, we have the defendant, who won't make a blue and pink cake. There does not seem to be any complex art to such a cake. As opposed to @weepawsand his cult, I like the Catholic position on trans: https://www.catholic.com/qa/the-churchs-position-on-transgenderism-0 "Love the sinner, hate the sin" is a pretty good model for such situations. This seems like "uncharitable behavior" on the part of the behavior, and as such I disapprove of the baker's position. The question, of course, is not what I think, but should HE be able to do it. That's a little thornier. It seems the plaintiff IMO planned out a good trap for this guy. At the end of the day, and I know conservatives here won't like what I'm about to say: I think time will show the baker to be on the wrong side of history here. I say this because there are other positions, like medical (hormonal and surgical) transitioning, where I am extremely confident that my opposition will be on the right side of history. -
No, but I remember saying I refer to the one trans person I know by name only. You like lying as much as you like beating off to tranny videos.
