NFL Draft

Recommended Posts

Doing anything special? I was thinking of putting together a poker tourney with my High School Fantasy Football buddies, but that's a three hour drive and a bunch of BS work to get it off the ground. Think I'll just work on finishing the basement, some  and the rest of the family on a different floor of the house.

If happen to flip past it, I'll watch. But I'll probably be out fishing.

When is it?

April 29-30 @ the Radio City Music Hall

Friends of mine just had their second child, so I'm going to watch it over there with a few other friends I haven't seen in a long time. Should be fun. I'm bringing the wine, they are grilling.

How many boxes?

:shocking:

I just picked up a bottle of Cloudy Bay sav blanc that I hear is great, and I have an Australian merlot I'll probably bring as well.

I'll watch the first round or so to see who gets dealt, and who the Eagles select.

I usually watch the first day. Either at a bar or playing poker or something. I usually like to go to a bar with the buddies so we can all talk about it.

I will be in Montreal for a bachelor party. I assume at some point we will leave not be in a casino or strip club, and that would leave us in a bar that hopefully would have it on.

I am going to watch the lions waste a pick I am sure.

They are running low on WRs:

ROLLA - Brett Fischer, a former record-setting wide receiver for the University of Missouri-Rolla, on Thursday, April 13 signed a contract with the Detroit Lions. He is to begin workouts in the Lions’ off-season program later this month.

Former St. Louis Rams’ head coach Mike Martz, now the offensive coordinator with the Lions, knew Fischer from last year, when the Rams had seen Fischer work out for pro scouts in Rolla. The Rams had interest in signing Fischer to a non-drafted free agent contract then, but the Kansas City Chiefs beat them to the punch.

Fischer signed a contract with the Chiefs on May 23, 2005 and spent the summer in the Chiefs’ off-season conditioning program, including mini-camps and the squad’s Organized Team Activities (OTA).

However, the day before the Chiefs were to fly to Wisconsin to begin their fall training camp Fischer was involved in an automobile accident in Kansas City. He was not given medical clearance to participate in the Chiefs’ training camp practices that first week and was cut by the team.

Recently Fischer, completely recovered from injuries suffered in the Kansas City automobile accident, has been playing for Memphis in the Arena Football League.

Earlier this month Fischer competed in the Lions’ full-squad mini-camp and was impressive enough to earn a contract offer. Fischer was to return to Detroit this week for off-season conditioning and then return to his home for a week during the NFL Draft. After the draft he’ll return to the Lions’ training facilities for six weeks of OTA and mini-camp work through the middle of June.

Fischer lost a chance to return to the Chiefs this year when ###### Vermeil retired and the team had a turnover in its coaching staff. Vermeil and his staff liked Fischer and had left the door open for him to return to Kansas City prior to the coaching changes.

Fischer (5-11, 192) last played for UMR in 2004. During that season he caught 72 passes for 1,040 yards and seven touchdowns. He was a double-major at UMR, in engineering management and in economics.

Meh. I always try to see who the Cards pick first. Thankfully they always pick early.

But I won't arrange my schedule around it. I'll be in and out doing family stuff I'm sure.

Gotta feel sorry for any player drafted by the Browns.

Gauranteed bust.

Not so much a bust, but just injury prone. Showing enough promise to make TONS of cash and stick around, but never making it through a full year.

Braylon

KWII

Faine

Willy Green

Gerrard Warren

Courtney Brown

Tim Couch

None of them have just plain sucked, but also, none of them made it through a full season without getting injured.

Actually, I'm busy all day that day. I think I'm going to record and it and avoid all updates (if that's possible) and try to get a few guys together (that will be with me at the same event that's keeping me busy) to watch it Saturday night/Sunday.

We usually pick that weekend as a golf weekend with the guys, so we watch after we get off the course. We play some cards, drink beer and watch who gets picked.

This year, we are doing our golf weekend a week earlier, so I am going to be laying hardwood floor and will likely only be able to listen on the radio.

Heck yes I will watch it!!!!! B)

Usually I watch it with a buddy of mine who has TiVo, we start watching a few hours in. This year he's out of town but I have two football games to play a few hours after the draft starts, so I'll need to watch it live anyway.
