Please add "Who gives a crap?" to poll options.

Although, in this case, I'd accept. "None. Depeche Mode is ghey."

My favorite would be: I Predict That This Thread Will End Badly.

I liked them better before their keyboardist and main songwriter (Vince Clarke) left to form Yaz.

They went from being upbeat and melodic to dark and industrial.

I went with Just Can't get Enough.

I had no idea that you all were such manly men. Go back to your meatloaf sandwhiches, and mustard stained wifebeaters...Dunno.

Dr. Girlfriend: Sweetie, isn't that the guy from Depeche Mode?

The Monarch: Oh, no way! Where? Holy crap, he's with a girl!

Dr. Girlfriend: Oh yeah, that guy is totally straight. I saw a whole thing about him on the VH1.

The Monarch: But he's the guy from Depeche Mode. It's impossible.

Dr. Girlfriend: Straight.

The Monarch: Come on! He's in Depeche Mode!

Depeche Mode is my second most hated group in the history of time. The Cure -barely- edges them out for the #1 spot.

Aren't you shocked that, in a thread full of replies saying how gay they are, I would offer up the first legitimate answer?

It just shows that most here are uncomfortable with their sexuality.

And when I die

there are gay anthems and gay club groups..but Im not sure why anyone would hate because of how it may be percieved...

that being said, im not a HUGE fan..i would vote enjoy the silence..i actually prefer erasure more..and i confuse these groups a lot..pet shop boys etc...

if people feel that unsure about their sexuality..turn one of the songs on and give your girl a lil doggy style action..you wont feel so gay after that..then when you hear that song, youll think of the sex..instead of these images of gay people and stereotypes...

(ive gone this route to end up growing to like the Cure a lot)..

Of those listed, I'm going to have to go with "People are People." In 10th grade, we lobbied (to no avail) Sister Sylvia to have "Personal Jesus" as our Confirmation song.

And I really, really love "Precious" off the latest album.

I voted "People Are People" since it's the only one I recoginize. I won't say that Depeche Mode is gay. I'm way above that. But it does reek of metrosexulaity.

"Situation" is their best known song. You would know it if you heard it. It's from the early-eighties.

It was a synthesizer-based band featuring Vince Clark on keyboards and Alison Moyet on vocals. She has an awesome voice.

Some music is "gay" because it seems that gays prefer listening to it. Examples include Bette Midler, Depeche Mode, or Disco.

Other music is "gay" because there are gays in the band. Examples include Culture Club, Judas Priest, and Kiss.

The "gay" refernces here crack me up ...

Reminds me of all the "tough" guys who derided me for liking Depehe, while THEY beat their chests with bands like Judas Priest or Pantera ... both of those bands featured ACTUAL homos, BTW. Yep, made sense to me ...

I came to like Depeche because every single hot goth/punk chic I associated with back in those days loved this band. I grew to like them by osmosis, now I'm a certain fan. A definite deviation from my usual listening (Misfits, Bauhaus, Damned, Pistols, etc.), but, good, nonetheless.

And their best/greatest song is definitely "BLACK CELEBRATION" ... no doubt. The opening sequence aping the "Halloween" theme is killer.

Another not mentioned is "Everything Counts" ... good stuff.

My wife was one of these girls....not sure how much she like DM, but she did like The Cure......all in all she was more punk than goth, but was hot with the Mohawk. As far as music goes, if you like it, you like it...my tastes run from Metallica/Slayer to Niel Young to White Stripes to CCR. I was just teasing about the pissing on the thread comment.....I just don't personally go for Depeche Mode....

Anyway, I had heard rumors that Phil A. of Pantera was gay, nickname Pincushion. I even had a few friends who moved to Texas to try and jump start their band (which didn't really take off) and they said the same thing, but I have never heard it for fact that he is gay. If that's who you are referring to. I mean Rob Halford, of course, I don't think anyone was shocked by that, but Phil would be a different story....
