Ummm...i highly doubt on tuesday night you try and commit suicide and by wednesday morning you are already released from the hospital free to try again....but who the hell knows nowadays...maybe the cowboys cut back on their health insurance???

 

Just heard on Mike & Mike he was released. I agree this sounds fishy.

I am a psychologist in New York and I will tell you this. If he is out of the hosptial this fast after a very obvious suicide attempt, then either the story is fabricated or the Dallas Cowboys cartel along with his lawyers and agent rushed him out of there in an attempt to cover this up as best as they could. Anyone who attempts suicide is always screened for depression, anxiety and or personality disorders ( which are more deeply rooted to who someone is ) by a clinician, psychologist, psychiatrist, clinical social worker, someone. Someone had to evaluate/interview him, write a report, make an assessmentand then release him based on the information provided by Owens that he has no more suicidal ideation and no plan to harm himself. The by law need to document this and cover themselves and provide support/help. Not to mention, regardless of what Owens and the Cowboys say, they can find out approximately how many pills he did take and the rest is common sense. If he took like 15 pills at one time or in a short time frame, then it was an obvious suicide attempt, if he took 5 or something it is more likely believable that it was an allergic reaction. To me it would be essential to find out how many pills and in what time frame did he take them. His statements to police could be thrown out if he was on any medication at the time and dont be suprised if they say he wasnt thinking clearly if he said something about "hurting himself" to police. This is going to get interesting. As for borderline personality disorder, after seeing his interview last year and observing his behavior it is possible, but tendencies of this disorder are absolutely there.

"DALLAS (AP) -- Flamboyant Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide by overdosing on pain medication, even putting two more pills into his mouth after fire rescue personnel arrived.

 

A Dallas police report released Wednesday morning said Owens told rescue workers "that he was depressed." The report was first released by WFAA-TV.

 

The rescue worker "noticed that (his) prescription pain medication was empty and observed (Owens) putting two pills in his mouth," the police report said.

 

The worker attempted to pry them out with her fingers, then was told by Owens that before this incident he'd taken only five of the 40 pain pills in the bottle he'd emptied. The worker then asked Owens "if he was attempting to harm himself, at which time (he) stated, `Yes."

its possible. lets wait to make sure that he really did this before we rule him out for any games this year. also, who knows what type of stuff he will go through before being able to play. he could be out for a few days, a week, a month, even longer...who knows at this point. as of right now, anything is possible.

I highly doubt he tried to commit suicide. if he took Vicodin then it's a possibility he had a allergic reaction to the hydrocodone part and not the tylenol. I don't think TO has ever had vicodin b/c this is his second injury which is minor and only requires Vicodin and not a stronger drug.

One report says he took 5 pills, then tried to take 2 more when EMT arrived at his house

 

Other report have him taking 30-35 pills.

 

If he took 5-7, he probably didn't want to die, but was in a depressive state and needed help/attention to the extreme to do something like this.

 

If he took 30, he really wanted to die at some point.

 

Either way, no one should pass judgement or wish him harm. It's not like he hurt anyone (except himself).

 

Also, if Rosenhaus knew of his condition and played off it for more $$$, he's an even bigger slime that I could ever comprehend.

Owens left the hospital early this morning and police said they would make a statement during "working hours." A news conference will be held later today, police said.

 

Were this a suicide attempt, it doesn't matter who you are, you get a nice stay in the psych ward for further eval.

 

Owens' publicist, Kim Etheridge, said of the incident, "This is not serious."

If he does have a personality disorder, there are other long term issues, particularly if he's bi-polar. Many athletes who have had to go on the meds for that disorder "lose their edge". For some of the these guys part of what makes them great is that high strungness, you remove that, sometimes you remove the drive that propels them to greatness. Beyond the obvious, this is bad on many many fronts.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Owens was released from the hospital early Wednesday morning. He went to the hospital Tuesday night because of an allergic reaction to pain medication.

Fantasy Source spin: The soap never ends. The team will update Owens' condition and Week 4 status Wednesday, so stay tuned. There was a chance he'd play this week despite his broken finger, but that's all up in the air now. Have your Plan B ready again.

The team of handlers wouldn't have the pull to negate state law. As I understand it, the psych eval is not optional.

Not necesarily. I used to commit people to the hospital and so forth following suicide attempts and such. If the support team around him is big enough and includes medical personnel, they could release him under certain conditions. We didn't necesarily commit every person that overdosed. It depended a great deal on a number of factors.

Hopefully its not true. Time will tell how real this story is, until then all we can do is speculate and make the story bigger than ever.
