Federer>Woods in being the best ever at their sport Woods>Federer in television ratings topic settled finally Right now? I agree. Feds has stepped his game back up and Woods has not been able to get it done in the majors. Advantage Federer (though, Elin is still hotter than Feds wife). KSB2424 3,148 Posted December 14, 2009 The recent news of Tiger Woods circling the world transgressing at every stop, partying, and focking like a rock star while keeping it all hidden from the press and his wife for all these years indeed does settle this debate. It shows just how focking great he is as a golfer that he can juggle all of that off the course and still DOMINATE the PGA tour like he has done the past decade. Holy crap is he good at golf. Just imagine how many tournaments he would have won if he was indeed a square like we thought. In terms of strictly golf talent, I have a newfound respect for how good he actually is. MedStudent 56 Posted December 14, 2009 Since I bumped this thread Tiger's career has come crashing to a hault. Will he play the Masters? He has 4 months to get his sh1t together. Thoughts? I think Elin is calling the shots on that. Who knows what she is thinking? I would think after a couple of months of groveling, either Elin has forgiven him or Tiger gets fed up and leaves her. It would kill Tiger to miss the majors next year. The US Open and the British Open are at Historical courses - Pebble Beach and St. Andrews. Who won the last US Open at Pebble Beach? Tiger Woods by 15 strokes. Who won the last two British Opens held at St. Andrews? Tiger Woods. With those two courses, a healthy Tiger may have made a run at the Grand Slam or at least have had a shot at a major or two.
KSB2424 3,148 Posted December 14, 2009 He'll be back for the Arnold Palmer as a warm up to Masters. The crowds will be record numbers. The TV ratings off the charts, thus the sponsors back salivating (the two go hand in hand). And most of the public finally down from thier highhorses on this story and debating something else. It's gonna be awesome. He's gonna be pissed and focused on golf only. Something he obviously hasn't been the past 5 years. Which is focking scary for the rest of the field. All the other golfers and doubters need to get their shots in now. Kick the man while he is down. When did I say the "shots" had to be golf related? I didn't. Are you saying Tiger isn't an easy target right now? Are you saying the "haters" aren't loving this right now. Are you saying all the other golfers like Jasper aren't commenting when Tiger is the one that has put more money in their pocket than anybody else over the past decade with his fame in Golf (which made the tournament purses larger). Tiger hears all that stuff from the tour. He also sees the barrage from the media. While a good portion may be warranted due to his own actions do you think Tiger will not use it as incentive to beat the living crap out of everyone on the golf course? Of course he will. Tiger's now got a F.U. attitude to the PGA tour players that enjoyed the microphone in their face. It's on now mutherfocker.

I think this has the potential of helping Tiger focus on golf. Not sure about him getting back at other golfers since a lot of them have given him words of support. But I do think with everything that is going on, he may use golf as an escape and concentrate more. Also, until his trangression has blown over, he will have less distractions with sponsers. I do think some of the sponsers will come back to him, especially the sports ones. Others may follow as the memory of this fades. Not sure if his sponserships will ever get back to where he was before the incident. Mainly because I am not even sure if he wants to publicly expose himself with so many sponserships after this. So what you are saying is that in golf or any other sport the only factors at play is your physical skill set? Focus, desire, concentration, practice, mental, ect. do not mean anything? The point is that Tiger was already dominating the tour when he had no real enemies and while he was out doing all the "transgressions". Imagine what he could do when focused on golf and pissed at the opposition (wants to rub it in). nobody is saying he will become a different player, just that he may actually be slightly more dominating due to the factors I stated. Which is wholly possible. Nothing stoopid about that..... Dr. Literal.

He was already a hot head when he didn't really have the pressure of knowing that many of those watching hate his guts and are judging him. He had everyone's adulation. It could go either way, as far as his golf game goes, but he will never, ever be the respected man he once was. And he will never-again earn even half of what his annual take had been before this. Regardless if he wins his next ten majors or not.
KSB2424 3,148 Posted December 14, 2009 And there's also an equal chance that the distractions will hurt his focus. Possible as well. He's definitley at a crossroads. I just don't see it as the "end" that everybody else is making it out to be though. By March all this drama will have settled down. It won't go away, but a sports figure cheating on his wife is pretty low on the totem poll of things that people do in the sports and entertainment world. I don't think anyone said (at least that I've seen/heard) that it's the end of his golf game. I've heard: End of his marriage End of his perfect image End of his advertising-giant days Ty Cobb could still play baseball after it was found out he was an asswhole. Leonard Little didn't forget how to tackle ballcarriers after he killed someone with his car. Why would anyone insinuate he'd forget how to play golf? It's too bad Rafa has had knee injuries, but that shows more how impressive Feds career has been. the bad part, to me anyway, is that Federer didn't have Rafa for MORE of his career. I loved watching they dynamic of McEnroe/Connors/Lendl in the prime of their careers. They gave way to the Wilander/Becker/Edberg era, who gave way to the Agassi/Sampra era. It seems to me that Federer never had another great player he had to jostle with for his whole career. He caught Sampras and Agassi at the end of their runs, and Rafa has come on more at the end of Federer's run. I sometimes wonder if he was so dominant because of the lack of another dominant player. That being said, I can go through the entire list of players named previously and give you one very prevalent flaw in their game that kept them from being complete dominant (maybe with the exception of Sampras, who to me had a similar situation to Fed's). I can't find a weakness in Federer's game...period...he does everything well, and does most of it better than everybody else.

I've always had an issue with Federer's backhand, it's the weakest part of his game. He just happens to have the best forehand in the history of tennis. I'm not saying his backhand is steffi graf weak, just that compared to the rest of his game, it is his only slight weakness.
