Ravens 03 0 Posted April 6, 2007 Yup. My son last night evidently did this to a kid's brand new Lincoln Navigator [somehting or other]. I am in utter shock and disbelief. The owners are ready to call the cops and have his ass arrested. I am trying to get in contact with him and him mother - my soon-to-be-ex. 4 hours and no one knows where they are. UNFOCKING BELIEVEABLE! Life is wonderful trying to divorce a lunatic crazed b!tch!

jets24 6 Posted April 6, 2007 This entire situation could be pulled from the "This is typical behavior of a child whose parents are getting divorce" files. Go very easy on him. It sucks to be him right now.
Recliner Pilot 61 Posted April 6, 2007 how old ? Who cares how old? How tall is my question. If the fothermucker is stomping the hood of a Navigator he has NBA potential, in both height and thuggery.

Ravens 03 0 Posted April 6, 2007 was it the kids car or the moms if it was the kids car your boy should have drug the boy out of thecar and whooped his a$$ too. The father was yelling at me - "My son is 6'3", 225lbs and should have beat the crap out of him." I told him cars can always be repaired - seriously injured people sometimes can't. Yikes - on one hand I want to say WTF was he thinking but then I think of the stuff I DID at 16 and step back. Gotta wait until you talk to him and hear his side of the story. jets24 6 Posted April 6, 2007 Pussification of America continues Come on Jets.... you are smarter then that. What the hell happened to you? Nothing wrong with me my friend. I'm just saying that he's 16 and headed for trouble. Obviously, whatever Ravens has been trying isn't working very well (No offense Raven). I'm not saying buy him a gift or anything, I'm saying that he should realize there is much more to this than what appears.

I'm not saying buy him a gift or anything, I'm saying that he should realize there is much more to this than what appears. Having raised 3 kids, I could not agree with this more. He is headed for trouble and there is FAR more to this story. Do nothing (even if your kid gets arrested) until you talk to him and hear the whole story. GL (been where you are) But, if he does get arrested, beat your wife to the police station, ask to talk to him and tell him you want the WHOLE story right now before you will bail him. You will be surprised, I guarantee it.

I see him moving in with me real soon and getting her the fock out of town back to her 'peeps'.
Juniper 0 Posted April 6, 2007 Put aside any notions of "I want you to apologize young man; then shake that boy's hand..."; the best thing to do is keep the kids away from one another and let things cool off. Has your son ever gotten into trouble like this before? If not; get a decent lawyer, let the courts settle it, make financial restitution and move along. Unless this type of behavior is chronic; consider it rock bottom, ensure your son learns something and won't do it again. Good kids sometimes make bad decisions; but don't try to rationalize what actually drove him to it.
RLLD 4,215 Posted April 6, 2007 Kids are dumb, all kids, most escape their stupidity without pemanent marks on their record, jail time, or death...but not by much. Hopefully you can work things out with the owners of the vehicle, and save your boy from himself. I think the key to this will be some kind of humbling action on the part of your boy. Not merely offerring to pay for the damage, but an in-person apology along with some other act of contrition.

How they deal with the mistakes afterwards will tell you whether they are headed down the right path or the wrong one. Teach him the right way.

Not merely offerring to pay for the damage, but an in-person apology along with some other act of contrition. It should really be easy to work out money wise. Just claim it on Ravens insurance. My stepson at the time did the same thing. But he was only 7 or 8 and just thought it would be fun to walk over a car bumper to bumper. Then when he jumped down off of it, he just plopped down on his ass which dented the hood and scratched the paint with the rivets on his jeans.

Brown Eyed Girl 1 Posted April 6, 2007 This entire situation could be pulled from the "This is typical behavior of a child whose parents are getting divorce" files. Go very easy on him. It sucks to be him right now. I wouldn't necessarily say that this is 'typical' behavior for a child who's parents are going through divorce. It may certainly be the way that he has chosen to act out over it, or maybe it's something else. Obviously Ravens needs to get to the bottom of that with him. Whatever his reasons were for choosing to do this - going easy on him will only send a clear message that it's okay to act out in a destructive way against others when life isn't going so great for you. Ravens 03 0 Posted April 7, 2007 focking update He agreed he did it. Other folks just want their truck hood replaced. We each cut a check for 50% of it to the dealership. I cleaned out his savings account to partially pay for it. So he's at $0 now. No idea what the entire punishment will be.

I cleaned out his savings account to partially pay for it. So he's at $0 now. No idea what the entire punishment will be. I'm sure he's a good kid and this is something that normally doesn't happen, but on top of the punishment you decide on, maybe you should work it out with the Police that you bring him in to the station so they can show him what it will feel like to be behind bars. Kind of like a "Scared Strait" situation. Just a thought. Good Luck!
