Pink Floyd

Metallica

U2

I usually try to avoid bands that I've seen already, but while I've seen Metallica several times, I'd gladly do it again.

All Time History:

Early '60's Beatles.

Mid '50's Elvis.

Late '40's Hank Williams.

I'd be quite unlikely to attend that triple bill; since their peak live performance periods didn't overlap one another.

A Specific Year:

1991: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, U2.

A ton of people picked Metalica. I must confess to knowing very little by this band. I do not like heavy metal at all but I think I should start giving them a chance. I understand they have been around forever and I do know a few of their songs but I must be missing something. What CD should I start with?

Their earlier music is great, but their live shows are unbelievably good! I would start with Master of Puppets, then Ride the Lightning, then And Justice for All. Anything before the Black Album is greata. The Black Album is the most popular by far, but nowhere near their best.

Love is a burning thing...anusol...leaves a fiery ring...ow, ow, ow...

That band was incredible. 'Broadway The Hard Way' and 'Make A Jazz Noise Here' were recorded with that same group during the '88 tour. Great, great musicians.

Nice...though I was always more of a shrooms guy myself.

I also considered that outfit that Billy Cobham had together back in the 70's. An old 8 track that I played to death and have never found again. 'Live from Paris' was the album. Exceptional. I think Steve Winwood played on a track or two. I think; that was a hazy time.
