My tonsillectomy was at 9:00 a.m.

 

I took an oxycontin at 1:00.

 

Presently, my body feels like it is made of clouds.

 

Shocking to think addicts take handfuls of these things all at once.

Be careful with those. My BIL was prescribed some for his back injury last year and is still taking them. His back problem is improved, but he is now addicted. They will be putting him through a detox just to get them out of his system. If he skips taking one of them or reduces the dose, he gets violently sick.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed a few years ago... no oxycotin or demoral prescription, no nothing. My dentist told me to go home and take some asprin.

Look, I didn't ask for strong pain meds. They just offered them. My doctor told me the recovery from an adult tonsillectomy is "awful." That's an honest quote. I'm sure your c-section was unpleasant and all, but the tonsillectomy is only bon bons and champagne when you have it done as a kid. As an adult it apparently is known to be really painful.

 

Personally, i wouldn't know because right now my body doesn't exist from the nose down.

About 1 month ago I had a disc replaced in my neck. The doctor prescribed Oxycontin and Percaset(?) after the surgery and I already had a handful of Vicodin 750's. I have tried not to use any of them for fear of becoming adicted. None of them really made me feel all spacey like some others have described. Mainly made me feel sleepy after a while. So now I have 12 Vicodin, 24 Percaset, and 14 Oxycontin left over. Who wants to party?

Thanks for the concerns-- both your and from everyone else. I don't believe in pain meds. I'm taking these today for the sake of my wife, who was very worried about me being in too much pain. After today, I plan on putting them on a shelf unless it gets unbearable.

Oxys for a tonsillectomy? Gotdamn! I have a strong suspicion that this doctor is best friends with all sorts of junkies. We have a few doctors like that in our area. Doctors who don't give a damn whether their patients are abusing, using multiple pharmacies, forging the prescriptions. I swear half of them dont give a damn about their license. These idiots let their nurses write scripts for Class II controls, or write 3 of them at a time, post-dating the second two. Then they ###### when we tell the patient that we can't fill those scripts.

You're forcing me to call you a dumb@ss. First of all, who the hell tries to tell their doctor what medicines to prescribe? Secondly, I wasn't even conscious when the prescription was written. Immediately after surgery he met with my wife and gave them to her and reviewed everything with her at that time.

Never heard of it. I wish I knew the name of the drug I got (after the morphine) right before the ER doctor popped my shoulder back into place. That stuff was awesome.

It's a central nervous system drug. It kind of erases the feeling along the entire length of your spine. It's a real biatch when ya have to get up, cross the bar, and pee.

Spent 3 or 4 days on those dreamy pills after neck surgery, I could tell how people could be addicted, might be a good idea to have a bag of weed around when you run out, its good therapy.

When I had major back surgery a few years ago, I was perscribed those with Percacets after I came off the morphine. After Morphine, oxysontin seems weak. But I was on them for a little bit, then my dose was cut in half for the next refill (to help ween me off) and I started taking them less often.

 

When I quit taking them all together, I had some withdrawals. It was pretty tough. I couldn't sleep for two days and had some sweats, but I kicked it in 3 days.

 

I can't imagine what it is like for the people who do not gradually take less of them.

I had surgery on my hand and on my peemus and both times i got vicoden. When i had the surgery in my hand, i took one pill the next morning even though i wasn't in pain. Partly because i figured i just woke up and the pain would come shortly, and 2ndly, i was interested in the "effects" of it. I felt nothin.

 

When i actually had pain because of my circumcision, the vicodin helped a bit with the pain, but i didn't feel the buzz.

Thought I would post an update since I've used it a couple times.

 

 

Its obvious to me how this stuff could be dangerous and addictive. It is making my whole body feel like I'm made of cotton candy. It also has a calming effect, too. My understanding is that what makes this unique among painkillers is the gradual release and I'll attest to that. It doesn't hit me all at once, but gently rolls in and then lasts for hours. It's not like being high-- its like being very, very, very at ease.

Yes, I realize that no one gives a damn about this, but I felt like posting another comment in this thread. It had been a few days since the last time I took any of the oxycontin, but my tonsillectomy wounds have been pretty sore the last 36 hours, so I popped two about an hour ago.

 

Honestly, this is the best feeling drugs have ever given me. As I stated before, its not like being high...just being very at ease. I could operate in this mode 24/7.

Such a shame that its destructive, though, because I think the entire middle east needs to get on a strict 3x daily regimen of this stuff and stop being a pain in the ass to the rest of the world.

You explaining it as an opiate brings some sense to why I feel so good while using it. I'm not sedated at all, but have never felt so calm. I'm a guy with no anxiety in his life at all, so to take peace of mind to new elevations for me is quite an accomplishment.

i have a bottle of these, I just don't get how people get addicted to this stuff. its fun for a day, but then its a drag. sometimes i'll take one and sit on the porch and have a couple beers but its really nothing special. I'd much rather have some X or shrooms, even bud.
