Counterfit 0 Posted May 31, 2007 In game guy would have to be Joe Thiesman and sports show guy would have to be Steven A Smith, I hate that biased POS. I know he's not football but still!
golden bear 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Easy -- Bryant Gumble on NFL network games -- by far the worst play-by-play guy I have ever heard. He almost makes it hard to watch the game.
famousb 11 Posted May 31, 2007 i don't know the guys name, but ever since the CAR Panthers fired Bill Rosinski, the local coverage is HORRIBLE. It's almost intolerable to listen to the guys that cover the game on tv... but on a national level, i can't stand Theisman's stupidity.
Pinto 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Good calls on Steven A Smith and Joe Theisman, however I feel the worst is Hawk Harrelson, the White Sox announcer. He's easily the most annoying and biased announcer in sports. His phrases are terrible as well.
Larry David 20 Posted May 31, 2007 Easy -- Bryant Gumble on NFL network games -- by far the worst play-by-play guy I have ever heard. He almost makes it hard to watch the game. Good call. You would think that having a little football knowledge would be a pre-requisite for working on the "NFL Network".
VaTerp 0 Posted May 31, 2007 As far as those who are currently calling NFL games its easy for me. Gumbel hands down and Bill Maas is a not so distant second.
Voice_Of_Reason 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Bill Walsh. It was so bad, it didn't last long. He'd be covering a Patriots-Bills game on the east coast and spend the whole time talking about the 49ers. It was aweful. Thiesman sucks hardcoredonkeybutt, but not the worst ever.

Resident A-hole 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Jerry Rice on Sirius NFL Radio. He is easily the worst sports analyst of all time. He stumbles over his words and every other word out of his mouth is "uuuuhhhhh".
softball 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Jerry Rice on Sirius NFL Radio. He is easily the worst sports analyst of all time. He stumbles over his words and every other word out of his mouth is "uuuuhhhhh". This is SO accurate, I turn it off when he comes on. Adam Schein also makes me sick, whinning pompus voice is so awful I turn him off as well. He's a writer and talks like one. When he says "Bring iT" I want to kick his @#$
Joe Buck 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Troy Aikman. He makes me uncomfortable, with his butt slapping and pinching my cheeks. He is always dropping his keys and asking me to pick them up. During games, he keeps grabbing my arm to turn me towards his laptop, to watch his favorite scenes from Deliverance. His screen saver is set for Lemon Party. After games, I spend an hour taking a hot shower, and another hour curled up in a fetal position in a corner, sobbing.
Jokers 0 Posted May 31, 2007 On sunday night football, I used to keep a chalkboard next to me. When Theisman spoke, I would scratch my fingernails on it. It was better than listening to Theisman. For you older folks, you may remember bars would have a raffle to see who gets to throw the brick at the TV when the obnoxious Howard Cosell would speak. It's almost intolerable to listen to the guys that cover the game on tv... That would be Mick Mixon, former UNC color guy. At least you only have to listen to him during game day. We get to enjoy his frequent pregnant pauses, incomprehensible tangents, and ridiculous 'folksy' analogies on a semi-regular basis here in Raleigh. I miss Bill R. doing play by play. He was great. Rumor has it he was let go because he made a stink about not getting an NFC championship ring which is apparently traditionally given out to certain staff members of the organization. After games, I spend an hour taking a hot shower, and another hour curled up in a fetal position in a corner, sobbing. I have to say Joe Buck if he is going to throw out comments like that! (Joey B is one of my favorites.) Larry Merchant makes me puke, then sop it up with wheat bread, eat it and puke again until I dry heave and pop blood vessels in my eyeballs, so I don't have to listen to his stupidity. Norman Einstein, I mean Joe Theismann, has grown on me like a cancerous tumor creeping out of my arse. He cracks me up now with his extra sensory perception powers. If you have played Scarface, where you drink a shot of Tequila every time he says the F word, try playing Leg Break. Every time Theismann tells you what a player is thinking, take a shot. You'll be blitzed midway through the 1st quarter.
BartHendricks17 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Joe Theisman! Bart thinks Theeeeesman is the worst too. The guy actually talks like he could still go down on the field and play better than 90% of the current NFL QB's. He also talks down to the other people in the booth and never admits he is wrong. This man embarrasses himself more in the booth than Ray Lewis's Limo Driver does with his ridiculous "post per day average" on this board.
SCfightON 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Good calls on Steven A Smith and Joe Theisman, however I feel the worst is Hawk Harrelson, the White Sox announcer. He's easily the most annoying and biased announcer in sports. His phrases are terrible as well. The difference between Theisman and Harrelson is that Ken "hawk" Harrelson is the WHITE SOX PLAY BY PLAY GUY!!!!! He is supposed to be bias. That is like saying that Skip and Chip Cary are bias to the Braves. Stick to football please. You can put it on the booooooooooooooard. . .YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!! He Gone Grab some bench Thats a hang Wiff'em Get foul, it will Stretch Stretch I LOOOOOOOOOVE George Brett Sit back, relax and strap it down, White Sox Baseball is coming up next! Yippie Skippy 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Dan Dierdorf is right there with Joe for me. I figure I've endured over a hundred hours of listening to those two. I wish I could get a tv that could mute just their voices.

I dont think you can say that somebody is the worst when they will be in the baseball HOF one day. Vin Sculley, Jon Miller, Skip Cary said he is a Hall of Famer For starters, the thread is "Worst sportscaster ever," not "Worst Football sportscaster ever," and there are non-football people mentioned already. Yes, he is biased which is okay since he is the Sox announcer, however I said most biased. What's sickening and annoying is HOW overboard he goes with it. He should root for his team, but going to state, "good guys" and "bad guys," amongst other things is absurd. All of those phrases you listed are completely annoying, immature, and hated by all non-Sox fans and even some Sox fans. Do Vin Scully, Jon Miller, and Skip Cary have HOF votes? Gee, I guess when peers state you're a HOF, you're automatically in. (BTW, Jon Miller is terrible, too.) The fact that you like Hawk proves you're completely ignorant to discuss any sports in a mature, intelligent manner. Nothing against the Sox--great team, great manager, great GM, with a terrible owner and terrible sportscaster.
shovelheadt 71 Posted May 31, 2007 The combination of Summeral/Madden was flat out painful Gumbler, as mentioned, is a focking joke. Absolutely no football knowledge Dickerson as a sideline reporter was a focking joke as well

football_scooter 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Tony Cornholer is hands down the WORST sportscaster ever to grace a booth with his presence. Terrible, talks over people, has a monotonic cadence so the listener is lulled to sleep. I hate him with a passion. Every time he engages anyone in the both it sounds like an argument. He is completely incapable of simply discussing something - he has to try and turn it into some sort of controversy or a segment of PTI. He cannot make an observation of anything onthe field without trying WAY too hard to sound insightful about it. He is the single worst choice for MNF "personality" ever, and he actually makes me miss Thiesman. He should be slapped and sterilized, and bodily removed from the MNF booth mid-broadcast to send a warning message to future broadcasters.

Add more votes for the aforementioned Gumbel, Dierdorf, and Walsh. What's this? Even the computer censor doesn't like somebody named ###### Enberg. R8RMick 242 Posted June 1, 2007 I can't believe no one's mentioned Bill Walton.... "HORRRRIBLE call...!" I actually believe this guy was struck by lightning. Right between the eyes... As for HOF guys, with all respect to Vin Scully, nobody comes close to Old Golden Throat himself, Chick Hearn. "This ballgame's in the refrigerator baby. The eggs are coolin, the jello's jigglin, and the butter's gettin hard...!"
sharkie22 0 Posted June 1, 2007 Gotta mention Joe Namath way back when he did his one year of MNF. "Good pa-lay" "He's a good pa-layer..." Frickin' guy managed to get the word in every sentence. Brian Baldinger's a good call too. Sounds like he's doing WWF more than football. And lastly, Jim Hill doing sports news in LA was pretty bad. For a guy who played football he managed to have the blandest and most obvious commentary when doing highlights. Classics like "he throws the ball" followed by long silence and then "he catches the ball" followed by long silence and then either "he's tackled" or "he scores" were deep.
