I took King in the second because the Bucs are down on CB depth with the loss of Kelly and Pearson, and the erratic play of Buchanon. The Bucs sign Eugene Wilson in the off season to play DB because I seriously doubt he'll be able to supplant Phillips and Tanard Jackson. Plus they drafted Sabby Piscatelli in the second last year, however he went IR for the season, but should be back.

Gruden says that he want s a good DB that can turn some games and I think in the proper system King could do that. If there is any group that can get the most out of him it's the Bucs with Monte Kiffen and DB Coach Raheem Morris. WR and CB were the big need this year and in the later rounds I think the Bucs add depth at the D and O lines.

2.24 Seattle Seahawks select Dustin Keller, TE, Purdue

Well, after going with value in the 1st round, I decided to fill a need in this round. Granted there were a couple of better values, and taking an OG was tempting, I took a guy that the Seattle front office seems to covet. Keller blew everybody away at the combine in Indianapolis. He is the fastest TE in the draft, Not the greatest blocker, but has terrific hands and is expected to be a top notch receiving TE in the league, well suited for a West Coast offense. This guy is widely projected as Seattle's 1st round pick, so I sat back and let him drop down to me in the 2nd round. Hopefully, Seattle will be smart enough to do the same on draft day.

kutulu, you might as well just list me as the Seattle drafter. I haven't touched base with FlaHawker, and I didn't hear from Kopy today.

Edit: If we get graded with a bad draft, it's my fault.

Hey look, I am going to be at PMI classes this week in order to prepare to the sit for the PMP exam, so if theplan is to go three or four I need someone to step up and take ownership for the Ravens, my personal preference would be Ravens03 or the Soloist....

Great pick. You've made me happy.

My thoughts are: The TE class isn't as deep as I originally thought.

Bennett has character issues for Seattle to consider him. Too much of a me guy and a whiner. We've already been there and done that.

Davis, didn't look impressive as I thought he would at the combine, and even less at his pro day. I haven't been too high on his attitude either.

Cottom has very little experience.

Carlson is just someone I've never really been high on myself. I still really can't put my finger on it. Maybe I just don't see upside.

Rucker/Finley and Keller I like, and see a lot of potential. The knock on them will be to block better. But Seattle has Heller as their blocking TE. So this kids job will be to catch the ball and score TD's.

Ruskell seemed to really get a man crush on Keller, so Keller it is.

I like the F.Davis pick for the pack. Bieng a Dolphins fan I would like to see I get a solid TE like Davis.

This guy was going in the first round in mocks not long ago. I don't know why he is dropping??

It is a good pick for Green Bay. I also see them drafting John David Boooooty later.

I grabbed Caldwell for the Doplhins at pick 54. Who are the Dolphin receivers other than Ginn? Hagan may be decent, but other than that, they need playmakers at the position.

I wanted to take Caldwell about 4 picks ago for the Titans. A WR taken in the 1st, but then 2nd round though? I might have been banned.

Devin Thomas 1st round

Andre Caldwell 2nd round Red Bryant DT - Texas A&M instead

I understand your thinking but I would not make that pick.

The Dolphins have many needs. Ernest Wilford was signed to be the WR2. Hagan might never make it but I think Keyshawn signs with Miami before long.

There are some other recievers the Fins could snag alter in the fourth or fifth round who could pan out. Arrington from Michigan is underrated and could be had later in drafts.

Didn't expect Rubin to go this early, I had my eye on him for the 3rd.

Yeah...I was hoping that either Dre Moore, Red Bryant, or Pat Sims would fall to the Jags pick. That didn't happen. So I went with Rubin, who I think, from a talent & potential standpoint, could go anywhere from the mid-to-late 2nd round to the early 4th round.

There were a couple of other positions that I considered; but I thought that similar players could be drafted in the next round, whereas if I missed out on Rubin, I thought it was much less likely that a good DT would drop. Also...I considered drafting a couple of players based on value (rather than need); however, unfortunately, they were at positions that I thought the Jags probably wouldn't invest a high pick on in this draft.

If Rivers is there I agree with you on LB. He wasn't in this draft. So no LB picked.

They have a strong O-line (or they did last year, really improved from teh previous year) they added Stroud to a line that has Schobel who is very good, McCargo who was a 1st rounder and started playing well late, and Kelsay who is a decent DE.

I'm not sure who they would pick in that situation?

Everyone is throwing out positions but who would they draft?

Buffalo has no TE game to think of, and just a bunch of 5'10 WRs racing down field. In the weather that is Western NY a big possesion WR is a must right now.

It does all come down to who they like. If they don't like Kelly or Sweed enough to pick at 11 they will trade down or go BPA.

Maybe trading down isn't a bad idea, and CB also works here.

I disagree with a lot of this. I believe it's a very deep position in the draft. There may not be a superstud TE in this draft but there are about 10 of them that are worthy of picking in the mid-to-late rounds and they could surprise.

If you're high on Keller/Rucker/Finley then you like TE's that are one dimensional. They are going to be out there to catch the ball and that's about it. Bennett/Davis/Carlson are more complete TE's.

Keller's stock has soared according to draftniks.....Why? Because of his numbers while running around in his underwear at the combine. Davis won the Mackey Award for best TE in college in 2007 and had a great Senior Bowl week. Before the combine Davis was a 1st rounder and Keller was maybe a 3rd rounder.

He's dropping based on guys who get too caught up in the combine and not game film.

It's a great pick for Green Bay and gives them a great tandem of TE's for the future with Lee and Davis.

While there may turn out to be some decent TEs taken in the late rounds, as future years may show us, there are only about 3 that are worth taking in the first 3 rounds or so, none are worthy in the 1st round. I think it's one of the worst TE classes we've seen in years; certainly not deep at all. Seattle took Keller because they wanted their choice of the TE crop rather than sit back and hope that one of the 3 top TE prospects drops to them in the 3rd round, and that the first two teams that picked were wrong. It would be a replay of the Jerramy Stevens fiasco.

Yes, I'm down on Davis. While his stock continues to drop, Keller's keeps rising. I liked what I saw from Keller during his Big Ten career and the multiple games I saw of his on TV. Great hands. That is the main reason to like this kid. Great hands. And that is exactly what this offense needs. Ruskell and the Seattle front office very openly like this guy more for their system than the other TEs, and I concur.

It seems teams never learn with these combines. Davis was scoring TD's making plays in the redzone every time I saw USC play.

It would be nice if he fell into the Dolphins lap with the 56th pick.

Love the Jason Jones pick to Green Bay. Like the size and speed combination from this guy and I'll enjoy seeing him across from Kampman even more on Sundays. He could be special.

During the first round, I was not sure if I should be looking at Keith Rivers or Cromartie-Rogers at #7. I went with a CB with huge upside that they could work in during nickel situations and eventually turn him loose.

In the 2nd, the Pats had to take a LB. With Henderson there, they have to go with him. He probably has the size to play on the inside in the 3-4 and they can work him into the rotation this year if (as expected), they get Seau to come back for one more season.

I did not take a TE with my second 2nd round pick becasue I was hoping Bennett would be there at 3.01, which he was. I like this kid; he can run, catch and block. He was my highest rated TE left on the board.

Had to go with Jones here in the late 2nd. KGB is getting older and each year they try to have him on the field less and less because he is much more successful as a situational player. Jason Jones can be the starting end and alongside Kampman could make the Packers already solid D line that much better.

Didn't even notice Rachal fell to the 3rd. Getting him and Long would really help out St. Louis' line. Add in Campbell and that's probably an ideal first 3 rounds.

I was stoked that Rachal was there for my 3rd pick, as I feel he is the best guard in the draft, even better then Albert. This gives the Rams the best tackle and guard available and should GREATLY upgrade their stale, old O-line. Both guys would be starting by the end of the year, even possibly by opening day, and have the potential to be the core of this line for the next 10 years. The fact that they both get to play at least one season with the great Orlando Pace will be very nice for their careers. I can guarantee Marc Bulger and Steven Jackson would love these picks.

Some other guys I considered:

Chad Henne, Michigan- I can't beleive he's still on the board, and I'm sure he won't be for long. After Ryan I think he's the best QB in this draft. With Bulger's injuries it would be nice to have a talented young guy waiting in the wings, and with Trent Green as the backup there is a chance he would get some game experience early. Plus, as the new acting GM, he isn't "my guy". Still, the fact that Bulger is only 31 made me decide to use the pick on more protection for him.

Frank Okam, Texas- One of the biggest human beings in the draft, and every team in the league could use a space eater like him, especially the Rams. He has very high bust potential and there is a chance I could get him later.

A defensive end- The Rams have SERIOUS pass rush needs that I haven't fully addressed by picking the raw, freakish, 6'7" 290 lb Calais Campbell in the 2nd round. I dont think I would get much value taking taking Chris Ellis or Jeremy Thompson here, as I see them being pretty even with guys I can get later.

I am :pwning you guys in this draft. Yeah I've totally ignored the weakest link, the OL, but I think I've got 3 real players in Ellis, Hardy, and now Lee, all adressing positions of weakness on this team. Ellis, Lee and Hardy would probably step in and start from day 1.

OL remains a concern, at this point we're looking at LT McIntosh, LG Waters, C Niswanger, RG Taylor, and RT Svitek.

Now if there isn't a handful of househol names, I don't know what is.

I didn't either. I had to re-read all the selections from the first two rounds for about 10 minutes, just to make sure he was actually available.

And if we were both GM's of these respective franchises I would be working with you on a secret deal to send Rachal to the Hawks.

Thanks. I thought of some other needs on the team, but since they picked up Hobson at LB and some other vets in the secondary, it makes sense for them to continue to shore up the line. Stephen Neal is rumored to have a knee injury and he may not be ready to start the season. Bringing in another RG who is known to have the smarts is what the Patriots like.

Da Bears:

Jeff Otah OT Pitt

Mario Manningham WR Michigan

Chad Henne WR Michigan

And I am NOT a Michigan Homer!

Saw your comment in the pick thread about Henne being the SOD

I AM a Michigan homer and I can tell you, Otah and the rest of that ragtag OL they send out on the field in Chicago are going to have to pull off miracles because Henne is literally a statue in the pocket and holds onto the ball entirely too long. Don't get too excited about it. He should fit in nicely with what Chicago fans have come to expect out of their QB's :music_guitarred:

Then why is Chris Mortensen hiding in my backyard snooping through my trash and why does he insist on ducking every time I pull the trigger of my shotgun.
