Pretty simple, what do you think will be the BCS title game?

Florida vs Oklahoma (cue Big XII 'BCS rank tiebreaker' disaster)

kansas will have a tough time re-peating. I went and watched them the other night versus a local scrub, and some of the new guys I had never heard of did look very promising. Coach Self is going to put a lot of emphasis on playing D this year, and getting his guys to play the game the want he wants it to be played.

Cole Aldrich looked very good and appears that he's going to be the go-to-guy this year, and Sherron Collins is still a little ball of fire capable of running the court and making big plays. Just going to have to wait and see who else emerges out of the pack as guys that can be leaned on.

I can see some early growing pains, similar to the team about 3 years ago Self recruited that struggled at the beginning of the year, then came on strong in the Big 12 tourney and later won a National Championship. I can't see them repeating, but maybe they can build together and make a sweet 16 run or something along those lines next year.

I don't get too much of an opportunity to watch the top teams from out West, but as a Florida alum I watch as many of their games as I can. They are going to be extremely tough to beat. They have two tough games coming up in Florida State and then 'Bama in the SEC championship game. If they can win both of those games, they absolutely should play for the National Championship. They've been playing lights out since that painful loss to Ole Miss, and their offense has been unstoppable.

I'm not saying that they're a lock to win it all, but right now you could easily make an argument that they are the team to beat.

We'll see in a few weeks. :music_guitarred:

They may be the best team in the country right now, but do they deserve to play for the title over any of the Big 12 teams?

They lost at home against and unranked team.

Texas loss on the road against Texas Tech on a last sec play. If OU beats Tech, Tech's only loss will be on the road against a top 5 team, and OU's only loss will be against Texas.

Basically if everyone has a loss, I think the three Big 12 teams will deserve to be 1,2,and 3. They will all have as many good wins as Florida, and they won't have as crappy of a loss as Florida has.

A home loss against an unranked team should knock you out of it when the other 1 loss teams only losses were on the road against top 5 teams.

I can't argue with your logic, but it won't fly in the real world known as the BCS poll. Unfortunately, that poll has turned into a "what have you done for me lately" type of poll, where ANY loss at the end of the season can be devastating, regardless of how it compares to other losses. I don't necessarily like it or agree with it, but that's the way it is. And Florida is playing the best, most dominating football in the country right now, hands down.

And, you could also argue that Florida's loss to Ole Miss was on a last-second blocked extra point, and that any loss to any team in the SEC outside of maybe Kentucky or Vanderbilt is not a "crappy" loss. It's next to impossible for a team to survive the entire season and championship game unscathed in the SEC. Much like it is in the Big 12.

Unfortunately, we face these issues every year, and will continue to do so until the NCAA competition committee finally cures it's rectal-cranial inversion and institutes a playoff system. As long as we have the poll system, we have to deal with it's flaws and unanswered questions.

I know you are right. Florida gets in if they win out. And I am pretty sure OU gets in if they win out.

But IMO Texas will have the strongest claim to being #1. They will have had the best season clearly IMO. But because of where games fall on the schedule, they'll get left out.

I truly hope that Florida wins out, and then plays the best team from the Big 12, whether it be Texas, OU, or Tech. I don't much care which team it is, just that it's the best the conference has to offer. I think Florida beats any of them, but as I mentioned before that's hard to believe firmly because there's just no way of comparing apples to apples until they play.

That being said, I want it to be the best team so that if Florida does win, there's no complaining that if so-and-so had played Florida, they would've won. If Florida loses, so be it. But, if they win, I want to take away any doubt as to how good they really are this year.

Here's to hopin'.

Oklahoma has a lot of ground to cover in the BCS rankings as of right now. It will be extremely close between Texas, Oklahoma and Tech on who goes to the Big 12 championship game. As most of you know, if there is a multi way tie in a Big 12 division, the BCS ranking determines who goes to the Big 12 championship game to play Missouri.

People are assuming an OU win this weekend, and I am not sure I disagree, at the same time no one is giving Tech their due and enjoy being the underdog. But if Tech wins there is no discussion so we will assume ou wins.

BCS rankings

Depending on how bad of a beat it is, I would guess ou would overtake Texas in the popular polls, being that the game this weekend is much hyped on national tv in prime time. But Texas is way ahead in the computer polls and the computers won't give back as much to ou as the voted polls will. But again the voted polls will weigh on how much of a beat down it is Saturday night.

Let's assume a 42- 35 victory by ou.

voted polls would have

1. bama

2. Florida

3. ou

4. Texas a close #3 <=== big factor here.

5 usc

6. Tech

Hopefully voters will realize that Texas beat ou at a neutral site and take that into consideration and I am wrong here, but that is some wishful thinking on my part.

computers will have

1. bama

2. Florida

3. Texas

4. a close #3 ou <==== big factor here

5. tech

It would seem that ou would just edge out Texas to go to Big 12 championship but it will be close, real close, thousandths of points, and it could be Texas ahead.

Texas plays the hapless aggies on Thanksgiving so Texas could do nothing but go down in any ranking with a poor showing. At the same time, the Big 12 south team that does go to the Big 12 championship game can do go down in ranking with a loss, but move up some with a lopsided victory.

I will whine about the system like we all do. An 8 team playoff would be so much fun this year. But Texas had its chance on the field and didn't do it, now they leave it in others hands and will have to live with it.

My prediction,

Texas - Florida :overhead:

:headbanger:

:pointstosky:

a fun scenario, Auburn rises up on beats rival bama, bama beats Florida, Tech wins out. Texas vs. Texas Tech. Lord I would love a rematch of my two favorite big schools in a national championship.

So what happens when Tech beats OU but loses to Missouri? Will Texas go even though they did not win their conference or will Tech go even though they lost the last game of the season?...or will they both miss out

I'm really don't get this either-the talking heads almost have this engraved in stone-Techs a dang good team.

Should be a fun game to watch.

Sadly, we all noticed.

I personally think the 2 best teams are Florida and Texas. You never know how things will shake out though. I know Tech beat Texas and they definitely deserve to go if they can win out, but I still think Texas is the better team.

Well, this likely wipes Texas Tech from the picture, and barring an upset by Mizzou, Texas is done also.

ou has to go to Oklahoma St., a lot worse Oklahoma St. teams have upset great ou teams. Texas should beat a&m at home. if ou beats osu, then everyone gives them the nod. no doubt. Texas had its chance on the field and blew it, now we leave it in the hands of osu. May have to settle for a BCS game. It ain't over. Hook em Cowboys.

How do they decide who wins their side of the Big 12 if all 3 of those teams only have 1 loss?

The team with the highest BCS ranking will go to the Conf. Championship. I do think if OU beats OSU they will move up enough in the computer rankings to overtake Texas and be the highest ranked team from the Big 12 in the BCS.

What's ironic for Texas fans is that Texas needs OU to lose, not to play in the conf. Championship (Assuming Tech beats Baylor, they would be tied with Texas and have the tiebreaker) but to possibly play in the National Championship. By Beating Baylor and then possibly Missouri in the Conf. Championship, Tech would probably not be able to move up high enough to pass Texas. Texas would then probably play the winner of Florida-Alabama.

That is all assuming that OU loses to OSU.

I am not sure ou will move up enough by beating osu, unless it is another whippin like they put on tech. It won't be so easy at osu. I think what Texas really needs is a close low scoring win by ou. Probaly won't happen.

Should be interesting. I am not sure really what to ask for. I guess, one of Auburn or FSU beating Alabama or Florida and the loser beating the winner in the SEC championship game. Putting TExas vs. ou in the championship. Won't happen but it is there.

It looks like the Alabama-Florida winner vs. OU if they beat Missouri, or Texas, if OU loses to Missouri. Should be a good final game, but a very unsatisfying system.

They need to get the conferences in sync with playing or not playing a conference championship, and then have either a 4 or 8 team playoff. Because there is not enough games between top teams in top conferences, there no good way to know which conferences are really stronger at the top, and a great team shouldn't necessarily be punished because they are a great team in a bad conference. Florida's one loss to Mississippi (8-4) is very similar to USC's one loss to Oregon State (8-4) or Penn State's one loss to Iowa (8-4), yet Florida will go to the championship because the SEC is the best conference, based on everyone's opinion. Let them settle it on the field.

The Title Game is being Played next week -- Florida and Alabama.

Oklahoma has a great offense but no defense - Florida will score every time the got the focking ball. Alabama will just run down their throats.

Barring a BCS nightmare scenario where the computers somehow give Texas ridiculous love, the Florida/OU game is set. 60 pts in 5 straight games, with the game before the streak involving 55 pts in the FIRST HALF.
