kilroy69 1,271 Posted March 15, 2010 Informing me that I would be getting a census in a week or so. Now, my question is why in the fock did they spend money to send me a letter telling me I was going to get a letter. Add to the fact that neither the envelope or the letter is printed on recycled paper they are killing trees for fun.

kilroy69 1,271 Posted March 16, 2010 because its cheaper to send two letters to make sure you send in the form than it is to send someone to your door? Or or or or...........they could just send the focking census and let me fill it out while chopping out the needless paper. Just a thought.

pimptastic69 0 Posted March 16, 2010 Yer mail must be pretty slow. I got that notice about 2 weeks ago and got the official census in the mail today. Why is there such a big deal about filling this out?

Mungwater 601 Posted March 16, 2010 I'm guessing the US Government has a deal with the US Postal Service, since they own them and all. I'm sure they did, but there are fixed costs that they're eating, hence the waste of money.
GettnHuge 2 Posted March 16, 2010 I'm guessing the US Government has a deal with the US Postal Service, since they own them and all. I had to stop here. This 'deal' would be like you and your wife, if you have one, agreeing to split the cost the next time you fill your gas tank, then each using your own credit card from the same account. Franknbeans 46 Posted March 16, 2010 I have more of a problem with the stupid warning in advance than the census. What the other Frank said. It's all about response rate for them and if sending you letter before hand makes it more likely you'll fill the thing out, then it saves them money by not having to send out a person. My guess is they don't send out a letter to everyone though which may mean you're getting a long form. Good luck.

Then today got a letter saying that I should have received the census. Maybe next week I will get a letter saying I should have gotten the reminder letter that I recieved the census.
