Yes, I was clamoring for Whitey to get in the game yesterday. If we're going to get qb play like that, it might as well be from somebody who has a future on the team.

Mile High is a tough place to play on the road, and the youth and inexperience showed with a lot of boneheaded mistakes. Up until the holding penalty, the offense looked great in the first series. After the TD was called back everything went to sh!t.

Tate looked good, and Butler continues to show flashes. Forsett was running like a mini-stallion with nowhere to go.

The run defense has has been a bright spot so far. The pass rush? Not so much. But there will be bumps in any rebuilding phase. I am hoping we can get Okung on the field this week to see what the line looks like with him. Tate, Butler and Forsett have looked good in bursts. Aaron Curry played better but overall continues to underwhelm with really no impact plays to speak of.

Here's a shock:

Seattle Seahawks LB LeRoy Hill (calf) suffered a calf injury in Week 2 and did not return to the game, reports Eric Williams, of the Tacoma News Tribune.

Fockin guy is a waste of a roster spot

congrats on the big week 1 win. Week two looked pretty bad but 1-1 has to be considered a good start.

2-2 heading into the bye would be excellent

Keys for the future:

- Okung getting healthy and playing as much as possible.

- Seeing what we have with Whitehurst so we have an idea what to do at QB this offseason. He'll be the opening day starter next year so the sooner he plays the better.

- Finding the next Freeney in the draft to play Leo.

There are lots of other things, but these are the three key elements.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Matt Hasselbeck is still the team's starting quarterback despite throwing three interceptions in Week 2.

"Matt's our guy, and we're counting on him," Carroll said. "... We feel fortunate to have Charlie (Whitehurst) waiting in the wings, but it's not his time yet." Hasselbeck has throw 14 interceptions over his last six games dating back to last season. We expect Whitehurst to get his shot at some point this year.

I wasn't expecting Whitehurst to start this week. 14 picks in six games? :shocking: Time for a mentor role Matt. Hopefully Charlie will be starting by week 6. Matt would be far better served helping him from the sidelines.

Okung will miss another game. He might start practicing next week. This ankle injury is the worst thing that could have happened to the offense, both short and long term. Being at home, I still think we have a shot against San Diego.

Also, it would be sweet to see Merriman's career ended in Seattle. I focking hate that @sshole.

Quarterback draw with no timeouts? I'm at a loss....just....wow

 Horrific call. If they end up losing this game, mark that down as a turning point.

And you guys were trying to bench Hasselbeck and throw in the towel on the season. :nono:

We might still win 6 games and take the division. :o

Welcome to the last 5 years. No pass defense.

We need about 8 false starts and an unforced fumble recovery to have a chance to come close to winning this game.

Pretty much

Holy balls, let us just get ONE focking 1st down. With how the offense has played this half, Rivers might get the ball back with 1:50

Nice win. SD was gashing the pass defense, and somehow the Seahawks pulled off a bend don't break in the red zones. This team will live and die by forcing turnovers, because they can't stop anyone.

Anyway, if Seabass doesn't shank a chip shot, Seattle is leading the division by themselves. Focking drunk kicker.

Nice win fellas.

Great showing by the NFC West today. Well, everybody except for we know who..

Good showing though today. I love seeing Tate as part of the offense.. Followed him for several years being a ND fan and I think the kid is a great talent. His hands will just stun you sometimes. So strong.

Lawyer Milloy:

But Seattle’s defense held tough when they needed to. San Diego was inside of Seattle’s 20-yard line on six different occasions, but only had 20 points to show for it at the end of the game, including two red zone stops in the final quarter.

“To say we’re going to shut them out or whatever, shut down the receiving core, (shut) Gates out, you know is really silly,” Seahawks safety Lawyer Milloy said. “If they make their plays we got to hang in there and that’s what we did.

“We had no turnovers. We hit them. I don’t think they’ve been hit like that. So you can focus on the 500 yards, I’m focusing on the win, and that’s what we’re all about.”

Hass was horrible again! His arm is a wet noodle flapping in the wind. He needs to be benched. Plus, Charlie has those incredible locks  We can win four more games with Whitehurst.

1st I've posted in this 15 page thread.

It is indeed an exciting time. If the Seahawks played 16 home games every year they'd get home field in the playoffs annually.

i root for this team to win, solely because of the madness of the fans and the problems they cause for opposing teams. Not a fan by any means but I just cant help but want them to win

Is it safe yet to assume that Forsett is THE guy to have now?

He got an overwhelming majority of the touches. After Okung comes back maybe he will actually get a little room to do something with them. I don't remember seeing Jones at all and I'm perfectly fine with that.

These Seahawks are sensing success

Seattle Times staff columnist

Clear out your Sunday calendar. Put off those weekend plans to paint the den. Don't sweat the leaves that soon will be clogging your gutters. Cancel that drive into the Cascades to see the fall colors.

There's something happening here.

"You're seeing a different kind of hitting out there this year," said Lawyer Milloy, the Seahawks' 15-year veteran safety. "We're bringing a different kind of nastiness."

Change is happening.

Against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, the Seahawks surrendered 518 yards.

Didn't matter.

They botched a possession at the end of the half that cost them three points. They squandered a 17-point third-quarter lead.

So what?

They kept their defense on the field seemingly all of the last 30 minutes. They committed the kind of penalties before the snap of the ball that shouldn't happen at home.

They survived.

Deion Branch lost a touchdown when he fumbled inches before he crossed the goal line and the ball rolled harmlessly out of the end zone.

And still the Seahawks won.

They gave their crowd the whole package. The good. The bad. The OMG. They showed us how far they've come. And how far they still can go.

"I'm excited about the win," wide receiver Branch said, "but I think we can do a whole lot better. This is great, don't get me wrong. It's hard to win even one game in the NFL, but I think we're way better than what we put out on the football field today."

Inside a re-awakened Qwest Field, the Seahawks did what they always used to do. They made plays. They navigated through their mistakes and they beat the very good Chargers in an improbable golden delicious 27-20 day.

Good things are happening again inside Qwest.

Kickoffs are getting returned for touchdowns. Quarterbacks, even ones as good as San Diego's Philip Rivers, are getting harassed by swarms of defensive linemen. Opponents are dropping the football as if the outsides were lined with eel.

"We have something going here," safety and special teams leader Roy Lewis said. "Nobody else knows what's going on inside this team. There's still a lot of naysayers out there, but we don't worry about that. It's about the 53 guys in this room. We believe."

This team is buying all of the "hoo-ha" that new coach Pete Carroll is selling. All week long they quote him like so many preachers reciting Bible verses.

"We're a reflection of him," Milloy said of Carroll. "Guys are definitely gravitating toward him, listening to him and playing very hard for him."

All of this college rah-rah in Renton is working. Maybe ESPN should bring "Game Day" to Seattle's Sundays. All that's missing here are Friday night bonfires.

Sure it's early and so much can go wrong, but the Seahawks, 2-1, should win the NFC West. After three weeks, they clearly are the most dangerous team with the greatest potential for growth.

"Through OTAs, through training camp, I saw the way this team was coming together," said safety Jordan Babineaux, who was released, then re-signed, the week leading up to the opener. "I had a sense that we had a great chance to be good. We got younger, but we're talented and we know that.

"This is my seventh year here and the thing is that even when they released me I still felt like I was part of the team. I didn't understand what they were doing, certainly, but I still felt like I was part of this secondary."

Why can't the Seahawks resurrect, while they rebuild?

This is the very winnable West. Look at San Francisco. All of the 0-3 Niners' summer optimism has melted like so much Ghirardelli chocolate.

Sure, the Seahawks make mistakes, but they also make plays.

Not one, but two kick returns for touchdowns from Leon Washington. Not one, but two picks from rookie safety Earl Thomas, including the game-clincher on Rivers' final fourth-down attempt at a miracle.

There was David Hawthorne's lethal hit that caused Mike Tolbert's fumble. And Kam Chancellor's crunch that caused Darren Sproles to cough up the ball on a kickoff near the end of the half.

"It's like we find out something new about ourselves every day," running back Justin Forsett said. "Today was a great example of us being put in a situation where we needed someone to make a play and someone did. Guys showed up. That's the resilience we have around here now."

The season has just begun and, as they proved a week ago in Denver, the Hawks, if they turn the ball over, still can lose to anybody, even the Rams next Sunday in St. Louis.

But there is something going on here. A team is starting to believe big.

Why can't the Seahawks win the West?

Looks like a step in the right direction!

The Seahawks will have Russell Okung and Chester Pitts practicing together for the first time all season, and while Carroll wouldn't commit to either starting this week, it is a step forward.

"It's going to be exciting," Carroll said. "For the first time we're going to see Russell Okung and Chester Pitts out there together, playing and practicing for the first time. Those guys are coming back from an injury situation, but that's an exciting thing for us on the offensive side."

Okung will be playing left tackle, Pitts left guard.

I was a little worried about this one. We haven't done sh!t on the road in over 2 years except beat the Rams, who now have the best QB in the divison. Washington can't score two TD's every week. The offense was putrid

*edited* to change conference to division. Bradford isn't that good yet, but the future looks very promising. :P
