Can we just remove the West as a division so we can allow a real team to make the playoffs? I think the NFL should institute a new real to avoid the possibility of seeing another Seahawks game in the postseason.

Well, the bright side is with all their recent success, San Francisco's front office might keep Alex Smith and the coaching staff around for another year. Great news for the Seahawks, Cardinals and Rams

I think the best move for SF is status quo. Smith and Smith have done ok as a tandem and Singletary is a leader that seems to have galvanized the team lately. despite the record, I think SF is the best team in the west and may even take the division with a 7-9 record.

Yes, because we can't have one of the most dominant teams of the 2000's making the playoffs yet again and winning more playoff games. And let's ignore the recent Superbowl appearances by Seattle and Arizona, because that makes your argument just plainly silly. Let's also keep the AFC West from sending a team, because they aren't good enough. And the AFC South. How about we just have NE and Atlanta voted in as the Super Bowl teams right now, because that's how college football does it.

As a Seahawk fan I pray they keep the incompetent Smith and clueless Singletary.

Fantasy Queen!!

I love ya little guy. ;)

Also, what's a "new real"? Did you mean rule? Slow down when you type, try proofreading. It only takes an extra minute.

After tonight do you still think that? PLEASE keep Singletary and the Smith boys around. Right now the Niners are probably the team that sucks least, but I'm all for them remaining stagnant.

A pretty crappy effort last night. SD is rolling.

I still think SF has the most talent and best coach in the division. Not saying alot, but we'll see what happens.

Agreed on the overall talent. I think they rank 4th out of 4 as far as coaching staffs (I like Whisenhunt and crew as the best). They're also in a three way tie for worst QB's in the division.

How on earth does a thread entitled "Seahawks fans" have 729 - er. 730 - replies!?

That's like, more than the actual number of fans.

Ken Whisenhunt has taken a team to a SB; Pete Carroll has won National Championships. Yet you are saying the 49ers have the best coach? Take off your Bear homer glasses. Singeltary is a fockin train wreck as a HC. ITSATIP

Idlewild was by far the gayest CD Outkast ever released, promoting a pretty gay movie (MUSICAL!!!).

I can't believe somebody would ever choose that title as a screen name. It doesn't even pack any of the irony of a Joey Gladstone. :music_guitarred:

Whatever, its more of a least worse rather than best. Warner and Fitz were on a big roll, so how much of that was the coach. National championships are irrelavent when talking about NFL coaching.

In the end, when they had the opportunity to make a late move for the division, the Niners came out as flat as a pancake. Hard to defend any of the coaches in the division right now.

I think Singletary is full blown retarded. Misshapen head, drool, can't speak, coaches like an economist working for the White House....just a total disaster.

Which puts him one rung of the ladder above Lovie Smith.

All it's going to take is one key victory by Seattle and the disastous season will be forgiven. This is that week. Atlanta is overlooking the Seahawks to the Saints whom they play in Atlanta in week 16. The Seahawks walk away with an outright victory due to Hasselback's ability to burn the Atlanta secondary. Lock it up! Seattle 24 Atlanta 21

Any discussion of Singletary being a tactical or strategical coach is just outright laughable. Singletary is a proven buffoon.

I see what you did there. Took a shot at a 9-4 coach because that's my team. Good one.

So let me see if I understand your logic here. Whisenhunt gets no credit because he had Fitz and Warner. I guess we can downgrade Bill Walsh's abilities as a HC for having Montana and Rice

Ok you want to throw out Carroll's National Cahmpionships? Fine. He made the playoffs as HC in NE, which is more than Singletary has done. Singletary ranks # 4 as a NFC West HC.

The same 9-4 coach that could have won a superbowl if he was smart enough to start Kyle Orton over Rex Grossman? The same 9-4 coach that got his ass handed to him at home by this very Seahawks team? That coach?

I like Lovie. So do the Packers, Vikings and Lions.

I spent a little bit of time thinking this morning. Mostly about I managed to avoid feeling hungover. But realistically, how many teams next year are going to be looking to draft a QB prospect in the early rounds, like Seattle is likely to be. Seems to me that it's going to be a lower number than usual. Just look around the league and circumstances.

NFC East: Washington. McNabb is done.

NFC South: None. Carolina just drafted Clausen.

NFC North: Minnesota. Tavaris Jackson? Eh, unless the guy is on a 7 year development plan.

NFC West: Arizona, Seattle, San Francisco. Well, if Arizona likes Skelton or Hall, they could drop out. SF can't go with Alex Smith anymore, not with a new coach. Seattle seems obvious, even when Hasselbeck is r-esigned.

AFC East: None. I think Fitzpatrick and Henne will be starting next year.

AFC North: None. Colt McCoy will be starting.

AFC South: None. That dope that owns the Titans likes Vince Young.

AFC West: None. Oakland is coming off the Russell disaster and Campbell/Gradkowski isn't a horrible combo. Orton/Tebow will start.

So...

Washington

Minnesota

Arizona

Seattle

San Francisco

Any team looking for a luxury pick in a QB to stash on the bench for a few years.

At least 4 QBs are expected to go first round: Andrew Luck, Ryan Mallet, Jake Locker, Nick Foles

Early round picks: Cam Newton, Christian Ponder, Blaine Gabbert

This is a really deep QB draft, one of the best in years, with some really outstanding prospects at the top.

If Kansas City beats St Louis today, the Chiefs clinch the NFC West by sweeping the division.

Luck will be the 1st pick, and I can imagine Mallet will go shortly after. Locker staying in Seattle? Newton in Bate's offense intrigues me too, I want to see his wonderlic results first though.

I had to edit my original post. "First day". Sheesh. I'm still living in the old days when the draft wasn't spread out over a week.

I'm not thrilled with Newton. I can't see him being any better than a Jason Campbell. Those SEC defenses are pretty bad, and his stats are super inflated. Newton is the next Joe Cribbs. I want a pocket passer.

I neither particularly like nor dislike the Seahawks. Just another NFL team to me.

So, as a unbiased observer, here is the bottomline: this team is sunk until the day you get a QB. Hass is absolutely killing them.....and it didn't just start today.

I dont know who disagreed. I had a sliver of hope for Whitehurst this offseason but that has since passed. I love Hass, tough guy, great guy, but it's over. Wouldnt mind seeing him hang around one more year as a mentor/backup.

We need help on the offensive line and decent corner too.

Whitehurst is a stiff.

Hasselbeck is playing with broken bones in his hand, and is forcing the ball into coverage to avoid contact so he doesn't risk being hit and falling on his injured paw. Hasselbeck was no WRs. Mike Williams is doubleteamed on every play, and the rest of the receivers suck, with the possible exception of Stokely. This team doesn't have a TE that can play in the NFL. The offensive line is shaky, so there is no running game.

We need to get a young QB, but until that happens, Hasselbeck is the only option available.

This team is sunk until it can stop a team on defense on 3rd downs. And it can't.

Not excited about Locker, Foles or any of the rest either. To my eyes, Luck is a sure thing. Mallett has all the tools. But that's about it as NFL QB's in the bunch.

I am absolutely thankful for the 2010 Seahawks, I purposely worked the WW to secure any defense playing them, most recently Atlanta.....they have hooked me up in a meaningful way.

My couch potato version 1.0

Luck is an absolute stud.

Mallett is a guy I want no part of. When I see him, all I picture is Ryan Leaf part 2.

Locker I think is the white version of Jamarcus Russell. I wouldn't mind aking a chance on him. Staying at home. With a pac 10 coach who does know him. I would be excited to see if it works. But it could just as easily be a wasted experiment too.

Newton, I really don't know what to make of the kid at the next level. So I don't want to really speculate.

Kellen Moore I think is a kid people are really sleeping on. I think he has all the tools (except for size) to be great. But I think he also has that special "it" factor that all the good ones have.
