Obviously I know the name "Dr. Laura", but the reality is I don't even know what she does. I did hear the audio on the radio but before this I wouldn't have even guessed she had a radio show. I think I thought she was a writer.

 

As for the issue at hand, I am much more bothered by how specious and unintelligent she seemed than I was her use of the word "n1gger".

I'm no fan of Dr. Laura - but reading about this, good for her. That hypocisy has always driven me crazy too. For some reason, it appears to be isolated just to the black community. I never hear other Mexicans calling each other wetback or mojado. Likewise, I've never heard Asians call each other slant eyes or gook. I will reiterate my standard position of supporting freedom of expression of thought and that this is being sensationalized by a politically correct hacky media and somehow a white person said something unpopular so they must be crucified. The horror.

Saw a small snippet of this on TV yesterday and have not heard the audio. So let me ask this question. Was she calling somebody the N word over and over again, or was she using the N word in the context of discussing a topic?

 

For instance if I'm at a social event and talking with a OGBYN doctor and he calls me a big fat vagina then I punch him in the face. If he is talking about a topic (his work) and mentions the word vagina a couple times in the discussion then that's perfectly fine.

Honestly, I have zero idea who Dr. Laura is or what she does. I'm one person who watches ZERO talking heads on TV or listen to them on the radio. I know who they are because they come up in conversation with people all the time. Glenn Beck said or Keith Olberman said or I heard this on Rush. People who can't think for themselves go to others to get their ideas. Those who question their beliefs and need them to be validated, search the airwaves for someone to do this for them. Me, I stand behind my ideals. This is why I will NEVER align myself 100% with any political party. The reason I endorse the libertarians, they are disjointed. You'll never find two libertarians who completely agree on anything. Libertarians are not Kool-Aid drinkers.

Other than being too stupid to realise that saying the N-word on the radio will get you in hot water, nothing.

 

I get her point, it's stupid for one group to object to the use of a word by another group when the word is used as a term of endearment by the first group. But you're still going to get in trouble for saying it on the air.

And as it appears to be beyond your grasp, I'll just say this - I've heard and hear it all the time - not just once by Chris Rock. In fact, I've a black man who works for me - yea, I hear it around his buddies quite often. Another out of reach concept for you, I've never said I do (or have said) the N word. Nor have I ever supported the idea. I questioned, as I always have, why it was okay for blacks to do it but considered racist when anybody else did......
