No one really said Kolb was the answer, just that it was time to move on from McNabb. That said, Kolb did look pretty bad today, especially on that last drive. BTW, not like McNabb is really lighting the world on fire this year either. Speaking of McNabb, how about that ovation? LOL at all the Philly haters guaranteeing that he would be booed. LOL at all the Philly haters guaranteeing that he would be booed. The whole reason the fans wanted McNabb gone was he couldn't win the big game. FACT. The McNabb/Reid combo would never win a Superbowl. And I've heard plenty of people say that Kolb was the answer to Reid's offense. Kolb looked like dog shiot as usual. McNabb had over 400 yards 2 weeks ago. Think Kolb is gonna do that, like ever? He had a bad game today and I can't blame him. This had to be a very difficult game for him. You could see where his head was before the game when he was interacting with the Eagles players. He hugged Vick for like 2 minutes. I feel bad for the guy. The franchise was nothing before he got there and he provided the leadership on and off the field that took the Eagles to 5 NFC championship games and the Superbowl. And the fans did boo him very loudly when he came out for the first drive. I was really disappointed. But oh well. I'm sure that didn't help his state of mind either. surferskin 31 Posted October 4, 2010 Kolb looked like complete trash. Part me understands why philly needed to move on from McNabb but to trade him in the division & give this clown the team? Good luck with that.

Mack 1 6 Posted October 4, 2010 But...but...but Kolb is the only QB in the history of the NFL to throw for more than 300 yards in his first two starts. And to think people used that as a reason for Philly to choose him over McNabb. Clowns.

Yes, many wanted a change from McNabb because he couldn't win a SB. But that doesn't mean they were saying Kolb would. They wanted to give him the chance, but no real fans were saying Kolb was the savior. Umm, Kolb threw for 391 yards in his first ever start...no that doesn't mean he's going to be awesome, but LOL at arguing that "is he gonna do that, like ever" Of course they're going to boo McNabb on the first drive. He plays for the other team! But he got a standing ovation when he was announced, which is all that matters. But OMG Philly fans throw snowballs and batteries! Well then it must have been all the fake fans who were saying that. Same fans that pretty much ran McNabb out of town. So people wanted McNabb gone for Kolb because he couldn't win a SB, but they didn't really think Kolb would do anything anyway? gmab I understand that Kolb looked good in in those few games last year. But you're going to trade your franchise QB who had a rating of 93 last year and took the team to the NFC Championship the year before on a whim that maybe this new guy would be better? Come on. And the way Kolb is playing this year, it's apparent that he SUCKS and whatever happened last year was a fluke. If he is the answer, then why was Vick starting? And...... I'm from Philly. I'm an Eagles fan. They weren't booing because they other team came out on the field, they were booing McNabb. And the reason why he initially got the ovation and then booed is because all the thugs were still in the lots getting sh!t-faced when he was first announced. I was disappointed they booed him because as a REAL fan I can appreciate everything he did for that team and I hate the snowball throwing image that Philly fans have. I was just speaking the truth. I was very disappointed. And I also wish McNabb had a better game today than he did for his own pride.

But I am denying that the reason he was run out of town was because they had Kevin Kolb. McNabb was traded because he only had a year left on his deal, is 34 years old and yet to win a championship. If he couldn't win one in his prime, it's not likely he was going to win one at age 34+. Yeah, people wanted to see what Kolb could do, but you're kidding yourself if you think people thought he was the savior. In fact, most expected this year to be a rebuilding year. Yeah, even those fans are suprised at how bad Kolb has done in limited action so far this year, but they also didn't expect the rest of the division to be this bad, and they realize that we actually have a decent shot at the playoffs, so now there's more pressure on Kolb. Most fans appreciated what McNabb did on the field, but it was just time to move on. But he also was a bit of a jerk off the field with many of the comments he made. Case in point, his quote after yesterday's game, after going an amazing 8-19 with 125 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT: "Everyone makes mistakes, and they made one last year." TimmySmith 2,783 Posted October 4, 2010 Skins go from Campbell to McNabb, Eagles go from McNabb to Campbell...errr...Kolb. We heard over and over how much better the offense was supposed to run with an accurate west coast QB. Well, guess what, he's not that accurate and is a scared little poosay in the pocket. Kolb is a dumpster fire. Just awful. And what's wrong with McNabb saying it was a mistake for philly to trade him? That's what every player that gets traded says. Puddleglum 0 Posted October 4, 2010 On the plus side, at least he was making it to the checkdown instead of getting pummeled every play like Cutler.
surferskin 31 Posted October 4, 2010 On the plus side, at least he was making it to the checkdown instead of getting pummeled every play like Cutler. See, that's the thing though. He actually had a decent amount of time. There was no reason to keep checking it down. The last drive of the game he threw a 8 yard sideline route to Mccoy, when he had Jackson open 20 yards down the field on the same sideline. He's just scared. I don't think anyone was really saying the offense was definitely going to be better. They had a chance to be better, but it wasn't a sure thing. That said, although Kolb has looked bad, I'm not completely writing him off just yet (for fantasy purposes, he probably is worth a flier if you're hurting at QB), as he still has not even played 2 full games yet this year. Again, it wasn't a mistake to trade McNabb. It was a mistake if they thought Kolb was ready to take over.
TimmySmith 2,783 Posted October 4, 2010 Again, it wasn't a mistake to trade McNabb. It was a mistake if they thought Kolb was ready to take over. This is ridiculous. The Eagles are SB caliber team this year with McNabb, a 6-8 win team with Kolb. Any pre-season illusions that Kolb was capable of more than 6-8 existed only in Philly. Vick better hurry up and get healthy, or this mess is going to haunt Reid right into the unemployment line.

You never once heard that when they were shopping McNabb and ESPECIALLY after they traded him to their hated rival. I would say that about 99.9% of football fans and analysts (outside Philly) have been completely mystified by the progression of the Eagles QB situation over the last 6 months, and it continues to deliver great story lines every week. I'll bet that you are as happy as I am to see another team taking heat for unexplainable personnel blunders.

You never once heard that when they were shopping McNabb and ESPECIALLY after they traded him to their hated rival. You have it backwards. Many thought it was always going to be a rebuilding year, possibly even if McNabb was still here (mainly because the defense isn't as good as it's been in the past). Which was just another reason why he was traded. They just didn't know the rest of the division would be so bad that they'd actually be in the playoff hunt once the season started. They weren't even that great of a team last year, they just benefitted from a pretty easy schedule.

TimHauck 3,431 Posted October 4, 2010 Go ahead. Yeah there's probably a few idiots that were saying things like that, but that doesn't mean that was the majority opinion. Is every Giants fan a mentally challenged schizo like Giants Fan on this board? Probably a bigger percentage than fans of most teams, but still, the answer is no. I have friends who are Cowboys, Giants and Eagles fans and we all talked this off-season about how 9-7 might take the division. This was post McNabb trade. Pre-trade I thought the Eagles would certainly be good for 11-5, and the Skins would be 7-9. I really think it boils down to the fact that Reid was cocky about Kolb.
