stonewall 647 Posted September 2, 2011 Where did he insult you? Obviously I didn't, nor did I intend to. You are correct shovel. I basically just wanted to get a take from Seahawk fans on what they might think about an immobile but fairly accurate/proven guy like Palmer coming over, should that schenario somehow come to fruition. However, apparently any input by "outsiders" is frowned upon in "their" thread. Good grief.........

Joey Gladstone 33 Posted September 2, 2011 If they were a 10-6 team, and just needed a QB. I'd say I'm all for it. But their gonna be bad this year. At least the first half of the year or so, until everyone starts to gell together. I think Palmer would get killed out there. That's not what I want for my QB (or rookie had we drafted one). As someone else said. Who cares if Jackson and Whitehurst get kicked around. Neither one should be our starter next year. So far. They seem to be building this franchise the right way, and I don't mind the bumps in the road this year will bring. As long as they stay on course. Unless they can get Palmer for a ham sandwich and a six pack. Then get him to restructure his contract to league minimums. They should stay on course. If Okung gets healthy and the rookies grow over the season, I could see him stepping in sometime around the half way point and even having a few nice games to end the year. Forever the optimist

stonewall 647 Posted September 2, 2011 Funny you left those adjectives out of your original post. I assumed that we as FF players kinda knew, not only who Palmer was, but what he was. (wow, I didn't realize that I would be stepping in a giant, smelly pile of okung by venturing into this forbidden thread for a quick comment).
Fantasy Noob 10 Posted September 2, 2011 Palmer would get killed behind our O-line. If we can get it fixed by next year and dont score a top draft pick for a QB (which is looking incredibly likely at this point) then Palmer would be a decent fallback option, but any sooner and it will be wasted trade picks and salary cap. It's going to be a long season for the faithful, which is probably why we might seem a little prickly/touchy on the subject at the moment. The absolutely horrific O-line play has been unexpected and alarming since that is what we focused on fixing this year, the problem was throwing 2 rookies side by side into the fire with no veteran between them or next too them as an on the field coach. The one positive, the coaching staff saw this coming and picked up a quarterback that could run for his life and where respectful enough to let Hasselbeck leave and not get killed this year. It's going to be a long year, I just hope they can fix the O-line by mid season. I am hoping they are pulling Carpenter off the line at the moment and giving him to Cable to be groomed and pumped up and take back over in a few weeks. If they threw him in now and just let him sink or swim it could destroy him as a player, and after spending a 1st rounder on him we can't afford for that to happen. It sucks that we have to actually 'coach up' a 1st round offensive lineman, thats not a good sign and possible red flag he really was at best a 2/3rd rounder. Idle thought but I am starting to wonder if we really had planned to pick Locker at 25th and when he went to Tennesse they were caught flat footed and suprised. I only say this since Lockers supposed most pro-worthy attribute was his ability to throw on the move and our QB's are going to be on the move alot this year. Right we assume that about Palmer So you felt you didn't need to mention he was fairly accurate/proven guy because we, as FF players already know that, but you had to point out that he is immobile because we didn't know that? Gotcha
WhiteWonder 2,738 Posted September 2, 2011 I don't do F.F. on hope or homerism wants or needs - I go with what I think happens. And I think Lynch is the work horse this year with Forsett the main #2, and sprinkles of Washington here and there. And Washington will probably focus in on the kick returns. In the future, I see a all new RB on this team. NOT Wash. That's just my perspective now and how it appeared to be last year as well. I do think Wash is maybe our best back, with home play ability. But, he's also not a young chicken anymore. He's also NEVER carried the load and never will in my view. Like I said, I would simply STAY AWAY from our backfield all together. Our line and team will struggle this year. He should look elsewhere (I. Redmond) is my entire point! As for my hopes for my team - I don't have much - We are rebuilding - im not talking about FF im talking about real life. Washington is the most talented runner in Seattle. He can't be a workhorse but if i were a fan, i'd be praying he is the number 2 over Forsett. A combo of Washington and Lynch could be VERY nice. Washington adds a ton in the receiving game as well. Dude is just flat out talented and underrated.
Fantasy Noob 10 Posted September 2, 2011 I could see it WhiteWonder, Washington has looked real good out there in the preseason. I have drafted Lynch as my #3/4RB on a lot of teams (damn homerism going to be the death of my FF season, or O-line is hideous) simply because the coaching staff has been so adamant that Forsett is the #2. As a fan of the team Washington looks by far the better of the two and they guy I want them to use as the 3rd down back. Forsett is kind of a cult hero up here and to be honest I don't know why. I have never been a fan. I think it's a bit of that 'Rudy' vibe, look at him go, he's so little! As long as the coaching staff keeps pimping Forsett as the #2RB I am snatching up Lynch in as many drafts as I can (no higher than 6th round though). Forsett is no threat to him at all, Washington however...
stonewall 647 Posted September 3, 2011 So you felt you didn't need to mention he was fairly accurate/proven guy because we, as FF players already know that, but you had to point out that he is immobile because we didn't know that? Gotcha Yes, tool. His immobility is the prime concern, if he were by chance to get traded to Seattle, because of the current porous status of that o-line. It ain't rocket science. Joey Gladstone 33 Posted September 3, 2011 So last preseason game tonight. Any chance they'll run Charlie out there against a starting defense? He's looked pretty good dinking and dunking against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Are the Raiders even dressing half their starting D?

I guess you were not, and making general statements about Washington. I was still in F.F. mode. And I'm still seeing Forsett as #2 and so he would have been my choice over Washington. (Although maybe I'm wrong on that he's #2 - We'll see) I actually would completely STAY away from both though. Even Lynch is off my draft board for the most part or way down it. Anyway, I think I. Redmond was the right choice with what was available.

It ain't rocket science. THis gets better and better. So if it isn't rocket science, then why ask how an immobile QB would do behind this poor OL? The answer is pretty self evident. FlaHawker 24 Posted September 3, 2011 Quality protection finally gives Jackson time SEAHAWKS NOTEBOOK: Quarterback leads two good drives and doesn’t get sacked; OT Okung warms up DAVE BOLING; Staff writer Last updated: September 3rd, 2011 12:22 AM (PDT) With a little more than a week until the start of the regular season, the Seattle Seahawks made a timely discovery in their final preseason game Thursday night at CenturyLink Field: Pass protection. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the Hawks were playing an Oakland Raiders team that had accumulated only four sacks in their first three preseason games. Still, it allowed starting Seahawks quarterback Tarvaris Jackson his first chances of the preseason to operate without imminent peril. Jackson led two good drives in the first period, completing five of seven passes for 88 yards. His one interception, though, came deep in Oakland territory to short-circuit an early drive. Jackson had been dumped seven times in the first three games, but he went mostly untouched Friday. “We worked hard all week trying to correct some things that had been wrong with communication,” left tackle Tyler Polumbus said. HEADS-UP WASHINGTON Running back Leon Washington came up with one of the best plays of the game by staying alert and hustling down the field even though the pass wasn’t directed to him. In the second period, Raiders cornerback Joe Porter jumped in front of intended receiver Golden Tate and tipped a pass back toward the Seahawks’ line. Washington sprinted up and caught it at his shoe-tops – la Franco Harris’ Immaculate Reception – and raced 32 yards with it. Washington said that teammates on the sidelines started calling him “Franco.” “It was just a hustle play, hustling for the ball,” Washington said. “I think Franco Harris took it all the way, and I didn’t score. But it goes to show, you hustle to the ball, and special things will happen.” OKUNG WARMS UP Even though he didn’t play in the game, an appearance by tackle Russell Okung during pregame warm-ups had to serve as a bright spot for the Seahawks. Okung, a first-round draft pick last year, sprained his left ankle on the first series of the first preseason game and has been sidelined since. Optimistic speculation held that he might be available for the opener, so his being suited and allowed to warm up had to be viewed as a good sign. Okung took a few snaps with the backups during warm-ups, wearing visible braces on both ankles. He missed six games with injuries to his ankles during his rookie season. With the performance of the offensive line being an issue in the first three preseason games, Okung’s return will be crucial for the Sept. 11 regular-season opener at San Francisco. In his absence, Polumbus started again at left tackle. SOME NEW STARTERS PLAY AGAINST RAIDERS With expected starters Sidney Rice and Mike Williams not dressing to nurse minor injuries, the Hawks started Golden Tate and Kris Durham at wide receiver. Defensively, new starters included middle linebacker K.J. Wright, cornerback Brandon Browner and strong safety Atari Bigby. EXTRA POINTS Seahawk captains for the game included former Raiders Robert Gallery and Zach Miller (along with Mike Robinson). … Auburn boxer Greg “Mutt” Haugen, a former world title holder, raised the 12th Man flag. … Seahawks who did not suit up for the game: Deon Butler, Isaiah Stanback, Mike Williams, Sidney Rice, Marshawn Lynch, Kam Chancellor, Roy Lewis, David Hawthorne, Ben Obomanu, Cameron Morrah, John Carlson, Colin Cole and Pierre Allen. I think the last time a team was really thrown for a loop was when the Rich Kotite-led Jets took Kyle Brady right before the Bill Belichick-led Browns were set to pick him. Pretty good one. (I love memories of draft day.) I was gonna say the year the vikings ran out of time. But then again, everyone else was prepared, and made a mad dash to the stage. Only the vikings were left going wtf? That was pretty awesome though. I think the year the patriots jumped ahead of us and took Daniel Graham left holmgrem a little shocked. I think he did panick by going Stevens.

phillybear 366 Posted September 4, 2011 Good day for Luck. And my boy Moore with a huge win against the Bulldogs. The second best QB in college football today just does nothing but win, and he still get no respect. Kellen Moore is very smart, deadly accurate, throws with touch, makes all the throws, reads defenses, anticipates WR cuts, great leadership qualities...and may be the best QB in college football right now. This is the guy I hope ends up in Seattle next year. If shaky prospects like Andy Dalton and Christian Ponder can go early in the draft, Moore is a top 15 pick for sure. Joey Gladstone 33 Posted September 4, 2011 So cuts.....Cole doesn't really surprise me. Legree surprises me. I hope he clears waivers. Pinkard and probably Clayton will find a job somewhere else pretty fast too. Also, has anybody's faith been rekindled by Golden Tate's performance the other night. It was obvious the team was working hard to get him involved, but it's still the most I've seen of him since he was drafted. We have some pretty decent slot receivers. Their franchise has zero championships under their belt and they think it is exciting. Your franchise hasn't won a title since the first time Walter Payton took a d!ck in his ass. Tell me, is he still dead from AIDS? Or did we find a cure for dead people from AIDS yet? Not only did he sashay when he ran, he talked in a lisp and was frequently seen around town enjoying the company of Lamar from Revenge of the Nerds. As Walter would say, "Gooooo Bayerahssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!...oh my goodness, blood ssssssseems to be leaking down my legs from my naughty bits, ssssssso I need someone to wipe up my stuff before going into the game....No, no girls. Find me a young boy. Hmmmmmm. I'll ssssssssshow him some Ssssssssssssssweetness." Sadly, it seems that Walter Payton was a sloppy power bottom size queen. Fantasy Noob 10 Posted September 9, 2011 The division champs deserve to be on the front page! Great article over on Grantland on the NFL by Bill Barnwall, and especially good read on the Bears too, enjoy! Linky http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/6918507/part-i Does anyone else kind of feel bad that Walter Payton and all time great is represented so poorly in nickname and number? Payton was a warrior on the field and pretty good guy off it from everything I have heard. As an aside one of my Dad's coworkers got to meet Walter Payton and he thought he didn't look so big or so tough for a former NFL player (this guy was a character always getting into trouble and stirring up trouble). So when they shook hands Mike decided to see how strong he was and really bore down on the hand shake. Payton didn't bat an eye he just squeezed down enough to make Mike's eyes water, grinned and smacked him on the shoulder hard enough to knock him off balance. I love that story, we miss you Walter! Joey Gladstone 33 Posted September 9, 2011 I'd rather spend all season watching Jackson/Whitehurst then the next 5 watching Jay Cutler throw the ball to the other team, show no leadership and pull himself from games with phantom injuries. But at least they traded his best receiver. This is Devin Hester's year!!
