NewbieJr 541 Posted August 2, 2011 you've been crying for years that the Pats are old, their whole roster is over 30 - Osi is 30 this year... sounds like the perfect old guy to help the Pats on their downward spiral. Yeah, but he didn't suck last year like Chad Johnson and Albert Haynesworth did. The Pats new strategy is to wait till they already start their descent. Not predict it based on age. redtodd 7 Posted August 2, 2011 If Bellicheat can unfock the likes of Dillon and Moss, I think he can handle Haynesworth Excellent use of an under-rated word.
TD Ryan2 316 Posted August 2, 2011 The Pats new strategy is to wait till they already start their descent. this isn't new for them, they've been signing guys on the downside for a while now - Ted Washington, Antowain Smith, Rodney Harrison, Corey Dillon, Randy Moss, those guys were DONE when they got to NE, coming off career worst years. It really is amazing how ass backwards NE does everything and how every time it blows up in their faces, yet they keep on doing it.

TD Ryan2 316 Posted August 2, 2011 FOCK! Don't you ass hats know that the GREEN BAY PACKERS are the world champions now! Patriots this and Patriots that, Brady, Belichick, yada, yada, yada - PACKERS - GREEN BAY PACKERS. Dammit.... Desmond Howard - TAKE THAT you CHOWDA' FOCKS! redtodd 7 Posted August 2, 2011 Are you really that much of a red-headed retard that you think that the second they got caught cheating, all the info they gathered from said cheating simply disappeared? LOLOL I know you're a Patriots lover, but you're not that GD stupid. The 2007 season was the year of Spygate. All wins that season are irrelevant. That was the yeat they got caught cheating. Bottom line is, they haven't won a single playoff game since that season. Ouch! Do you even understand what the rule was that they broke? Maybe if you take the HGH syringe out of your eyes you might understand. It is not the filming alone that makes it illegal, it is having access to that particular film DURING the same game that the filming is actually occurring. As a result of Spygate, they no longer had access to film from the same game. What did the they do after that? They proceeded to win 17 games in a row including breaking multiple offensive records and was a fluky helmet catch away from a 4th Super Bowl ( ). Now, I know that tanning beds may have cooked your brain a little, but even if they have all the film in the world of hand signals still at their disposal for the following games......do you really think opposing coaches would be using the same hand signals? Even Rich Kottite would know better.

Also, there was never any indication that they did access the film during the game as the film techs were on record as saying the turned in the tapes after the game. Not that any of this matters in Newbie's world of denial.

Recliner Pilot 61 Posted August 2, 2011 Haloti Ngata was first team all-pro last year and is considered one of the best defensive tackles in the game. Over his five year career he has averaged: 2.4 Sacks per year 34 Tackles per year This year he will be paid $12.5 million as the Ravens' franchise player. Defensive tackles are generally not big stat monsters. Their main value is in the space they clog up in the middle, the offensive blockers they occupy, and the opportunities they create for other members of the defense to make plays. Last year, when he made the pro bowl he had 5.5 sacks and 46 tackles with 17 assists. A little better than his "average".

I'm curious, did you post this with the intent of disputing my point that the worth of defensive tackles can't really be quantified with stats, or to help me make that point? Because it sure seems like it's the latter. Are you really suggesting that somehow it would be stupid to pay someone $5 million for 27 tackles and 2.5 sacks, but paying two and a half times that amount for 20 more tackles and 3 more sacks somehow makes sense? Fail. Or maybe I should put it this way; If Fat Albert Haloti Ngata lives up to his avg best year for his career the Pats Ravens will be paying him: $1.6 Million per Sack $2.3 Million per Sack Or $200,000 per tackle. $270,000 per tackle. Awesome move by the genius Belicheat.

Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted August 11, 2011 So is he still overpaid and this is a risky deal? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/10/albert-haynesworth-took-a-big-pay-cut-to-join-patriots/ Albert Haynesworth took a big pay cut to join PatriotsPosted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 10, 2011, 9:39 PM EDT AP New Englands trade for Albert Haynesworth seemed like a typical Patriots low-risk, high reward gambit. The move looks like an even lower risk following news of Haynesworths restructured contract. Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reports Haynesworth took a pay cut in base salary all the way from $5.4 million base salary to $1.5 million. Thats quite a haircut, but Haynesworth can make back all the money in incentives if he has a terrific season. If Haynesworth plays 20% of the teams snaps, he gets $1 million. He then gets an additional $590,000 once he gets over each of the following playing time thresholds: 45% of the teams snaps, 50%, 55%, 60%, and 65%. He gets an additional $400,000 if he makes the Pro Bowl. Haynesworth has a base salary of $6.7 million for 2012, so hell have to play very well to avoid getting cut after 2011. The Patriots are getting their proverbial cake and making sure Haynesworth isnt eating it too. He will be highly motivated to stay on the field to earn his incentives, and the Patriots can cut him more easily at any time without a huge financial risk. parrot 789 Posted August 11, 2011 it's a long season, let's see how things turn out later... Things may turn out horribly. Haynesworth could turn out to be a complete bust, but the Patriots don't have a whole lot invested in him if he does. I think it's a lot like the Moss signing; questions abound, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

They might actually get a decent season out of him, it would not be shocking if Bellicheat manged to keep him in line for at least half the season, beyond that I am less certain; I feel strongly that he is not back next year. It should be fund to watch, regardless

Pats are going to the Superbowl this year, team is loaded and ready to go. Last year showed they needed a year to mature with the young guys. Watch out...
