Trade Nazis

Recommended Posts

Seems like every year I get into leagues with people who won't trade unless the deal is so lopsided in their favor as to be vetoable.

Today I offered this trade:

I give Arian Foster, Antonio Gates, and Mike Sims-Walker.

I get Jahvid Best, Tony Gonzalez, and Santana Moss.

He already has Ben Tate, along with Adrian Peterson, LeGarrette Blount, Jahvid Best and Reggie Bush, so he can afford to wait on Foster. I have McFadden, but then it's Marshawn Lynch and Brandon Jacobs (who I dropped for Roy Helu today) behind Foster--so I kinda needed RB help now. I still have Keller at TE, so I don't really need Gates, esp. if I got Gonzo in return, and while Moss would give me solid WR depth so I wouldn't always have to start Stevie Johnson AND David Nelson behind Larry Fitzgerald, he doesn't add a lot to my team, and I din't think that he was too much to ask in return. Yahoo's Trade Evaluator showed a +149 in projected points for his team over the course of the season, and a -110 points for mine.

I thought it was axually a pretty sweet deal for him, and I almost withdrew it a couple of times during the day. Turns out I din't need to. He rejected the trade and countered with:

I give Cam Newton and David Nelson.

I get Santana Moss and Reggie Bush.

I axually burst out laughing.

So, what are some of the Trade Nazis you've dealt with this season so far?

Newton for Fitzgerald in 1PPR. I'm just letting it sit there. I'll look towards it for a good laugh every once in a while.

So basically you are offering an injured RB (Foster), an injured TE (Gates), and a WR who has been average (Sims-Walker)

FOR

A RB that has already accumulated 237 yards and 2 TDs this season (Best), a TE that has 155 yards and 2 TDs (Gonzales), and a WR that has 127 yards and a TD so far (Moss).

And the person rejecting this trade is a Nazi?

I'm pretty sure that trade would be protested in any league I've ever been in.

But then again we are not all the genius that is Axe Elf.

My buddy in my league (its his first year) offered a guy Darren Sproles and Dustin Keller for Ray Rice. Apparently he thought it was a good offer as the guy needed TE help. I told him the guy would laugh.

LOL @ this guy thinking his trade wasn't more then fair. Gates is the best TE in the league. It's been 2 weeks. Foster and Tate is x1000 better then best. Sims walker looks like Bradfords favorite target. Moss isn't that much better if at all. Your just hating on Axe alf...

If u included vasoline then maybe it wouldn't hurt him so much when u f**k him!! That's a horrible offer. lol your credibility just hit rock bottom. I was a silent supporter of yours, but this thread has made me think that I have to re-evaluate my position.

Gates is not best TE in league anymore

Foster is not top 5 RB anymore -

MSW < S Moss

i feel you on this one...seems more than a fair trade...my commish who won last year...offered me tate for dez...i countered with

plax for tate since i'm hurting for rb's & he denied...i don't see how tate has that much value unless you have foster :dunno:

Antonio Gates is 31 years old and appears to have a foot injury that doesn't seem to be going away. The details of his injury are unknown, but he looked like crap last week and looked like he was in pain. He used to be the best TE in the league. And Peyton Manning used to be the best QB. Doesn't matter if they ain't playing.

I don't care if it's Emmitt focking Smith, I would never touch an injured RB with a 10 foot pole. And we know he's definitely out at least this week and again his return is unclear.

In what universe is trading two injured players, no matter how good they were last year or the year before that or the year before that, for two players that are currently putting up top ten numbers a fair trade?

If they are so valuable, why was the OP trying to dump them in the first place? Probably hoping some sucker would think this was 2010 instead of 2011.

is.

Not for nothing, but I would have rejected that trade, as well.

You offered a potential stud RB, who hasn't been healthy AT ALL this year. Furthermore, his backup RB has looked very good, so the potential for a time-share if/when Foster returns is there. His RBs are fine without Foster, so perhaps he doesn't see the need to weaken them in the short term, for a POSSIBLE upgrade in the long term.

You offered a potential stud TE, who got the goose-egg the last game, didn't play late in the game, has battled foot problems for 2 years, and is currently not practicing because of said foot problems. I'd be content to stick with Gonzalez, as well.

Sims-Walker has potential, but he hasn't capitalized on it.

Just because Yahoo's trade evaluator says the trade is good for him doesn't actually make it so. It's based on Foster and Gates being completely healthy from week 3 until week 17. If you knew that to be the case, you wouldn't have offered the trade.

You offered a bad trade, and got rejected, he's not a "trade Nazi."

Response assuming your post wasn't sarcasm:

He is just one of those fantasy football noobs who has had a very lucky couple of weeks. He has Sproles and Forte, basically no receivers where we start 3 (Deion Branch is his best receiver unless you like Plax), Brees and Gates. He picked up Devery Henderson off of waivers last week for $61 out of a $200 budget, who happened to have a "lucky" 79 yard TD against the Bears last week (in my opinion it was simply Bears safety fail). Yet he has had 2 weeks where he has scored in the top 2 teams.

So now that he thinks his team is awesome, he tries to trade a guy for Ray Rice with Sproles (who he thinks is a very good RB) and Keller. Keep in mind the guy already has Dallas Clark on his team.

He is a good friend and I find him to be a hilarious person. It really has been entertaining having him in the league this year.

Of course I make fun of him and think his team has just been lucky, watch him win it all with Sproles at RB2 all year.

Y'all are truly missing the point here. Whether you like the original trade or not--whether you think it was a fair offer or not--really isn't the point. It was a risk-reward kind of an offer. If you think Foster and Gates are done, then I was trying to fork him over; if you think they will still produce at the level they are capable of, it was a good deal for him--Foster and Peterson together? Fuhgeddaboudit. And having Tate already, I thought he might be willing to wait and see on Foster. But as I said, I nearly withdrew it a couple of times anyway, wondering if I was giving away too much, and I'm just as happy that he rejected my original offer.

The punch line of the thing is the counteroffer I received from him: I give Cam Newton and David Nelson to get Santana Moss and Reggie Bush? C'mon, that's ridiculous, no matter who you are.

THAT'S the funny part, and THAT'S the point of my post.

Carry on...

Trades I have been offered over the past week or so in one PPR money league:

D-Mac and Nicks (me) for Fitz and Witten (him) - not agregious, but not great

D-Mac and Nicks for Bess, Witten and Reggie Bush

D-Mac and Nicks for Bess, Keller and Reggie Bush

Nicks and Amendola for V Davis and Devery Henderson

These are some of the ones I can remember. The top three were by an owner who is saying these offers are starting-point offers. He goes on to say that he has no interest in Best or Tolbert...ok, fine. He then tells me in the same breath that I am ridiculous for even considering Tolbert for Witten/Keller but feels Witten or Keller for D-Mac is fair.

Ah...early season trading, when every owner believes his team should be 2-0 and the highest scoring team  :wall:

So, what are some of the Trade Nazis you've dealt with this season so far?

I see where you are coming from.

as a person who is known to sometimes reject trades that look good on the surface I am going to speak to another angle (or potential angle) for this deal.

Foster and gates are both hurt. He does have a RB (Tate & Blount) that can limit the downside of Fosters injury but Gates will hinder him until he is back in the lineup. I prefer Sims walker to Moss, but not all people feel that way.

So this being said, is he in a position where a loss or two right now would hurt him? If he is, then you know why he said no to the deal.

The other possibility is that he thinks you are a competitor to him and if he thinks the deal helps you more than it helps him, he may prefer to leave things be.

These lines of thought may have affected his decision, and even though your offer was fair, it is possible that one of the above reasons could have made this into a deal breaker for him.

anyhow, Just food for your thought. I feel there is nothing wrong with your offer, but I'm just saying there may have been other reasons for his declining the deal.

While Axe Elf is considered a priori a formidable opponent throughout the fantasy football world, there may be something to this theory, since I ragged this guy pretty good on the league message board after the draft for having Blount as his RB2, Evans as his WR3, Eli Manning as his QB1, and Greg Olsen as his only TE. He retorted that both of his defenses outscored my WR1 last year (which of course makes no sense--you compare Ds to Ds and WRs to WRs, not Ds to WRs), and then he astutely went right out and dropped Olsen for--Lance Kendricks. (WAH-Wah-wah).

On top of that, he is my opponent this week...

A weak point indeed, but since you seem determined to defend it...

He din't draft Gonzo; he finally gave up on Kendricks and picked up Gonzo in waivers this week.

He said he was trying to draft Jimmy Graham when his system froze up, and when it released, we were on to the next player, and his mouse click was apparently counted as the winning bid on Santana Moss. (His story, not mine.) So he din't really draft Moss either.

As for Best, well, blind squirrel, nut, you do the math.

As for shapes and colors, I bet you are one red square right about now...

Wow; Gonzo on WW?

I knew someone would have to say it. Yeah, some guy dropped Gonzo for Olsen just before the Week 2 games--I guess Olsen had more appeal than Gonzo vs the Eagles--so Gonzo was still on waivers after the games this week.

Which makes it all the funnier that the guy I was trying to trade with drafted Olsen originally, dropped HIM for Kendricks, and then ended up dropping Kendricks for Gonzo, who THIS guy dropped to get Olsen.

Hey, if we were all geniuses, you wouldn't need me.
