Tacks

A Foster

Recommended Posts

with all this recent news about foster...

if you had both would it be smarter to start ben tate anyway? garbage time, plust the first sign of foster hurting they will probably shelf him

i have foster, tate, and marshawn lynch in one league... i'm thinking of rolling with both foster and tate.

How tough is your matchup this week? Regardless, the bet hedge may not have such a bad outcome, as they should run rampant over that Dolphin team.

it should be a close matchup... funny part is RB was my strong suit...

the good news is i also have mcgahee if lynch can't go (mcgahee has a later start time, and turbin was drafted)

Foster has to be a complete scratch for Tate to even put up average numbers if last year gives us any indication. People have rose colored glasses when it comes to Tate. Lots of single digit games after week 3 last year, when Foster was healthy.

When Foster was healthy.....

Tate also put up double digits in 4 games when Foster started, including week 2 @MIA. The other 3 were blowouts.

Foster isn't healthy nor do we expect this to be a close game. Unless I hear Foster feels great and is starting, then I'm going Tate. Especially if I hear..."he's gonna give it a go" or some crap like that.

Tate turned 19% of his carries into 10+ yard gains, averaging a full yard more per carry than Foster. Houston is a system more than any super stud player (see: late 90's Denver).

Read the whole quote, sports fans.

"I expect to play on Sunday," Foster said.

Kubiak said both players will be tested out before the game to see if they can play.

"If we pushed him (Foster) to practice, he would've went out there and practiced," Kubiak said. "But we're going to be smart with him, but then he'll have to show us he's ready to go."

I will be ready to plug Jennings in if Foster is a scratch but this is nothing compared to last season and the hammy of anti-awsomeness.

I disagree.

Dude is the best player on the field, whenever he hits it healthy. The Texans are an elite blocking team, but give the guy his due. One cut and BAM.. he is just a terrific RB. He also catches anything thrown his way, turns ugly plays in gains and has a great nose for the goal. Reminds me of Roger Craig with a little less speed and probably more size and leverage (no super high knee high strides either).

I don't care what those numbers say, Arian doesn't just pass the eye test, he smokes it.

You want to bag on his durability for his relatively low odometer count, i'm cool with that. When I think of a "system" guy, I think of someone like Mike Anderson. I think this guy is a little more special than that.. but it's just one fan's opinion.

Good system with a stud RB. To suggest otherwise is absurd.

Were those system guys in Denver top 3 rushers or just 1K backs?

Not including TD i'm assuming? He had an insane 3 year run. Safe to say, if you break 2k, win a SB and league MVP, you're not exclusively, a "system back".

Don't know of the other guys, except, "Marine" Mike who had nearly 1,500 as a rookie and won offensive ROY that year. He didn't have much of a career after that though.

Assume your point is to distinguish Arian from Shannihan's old "RB of the Year Club" in Denver?

The Texans will likely work Foster out on Saturday and Reed on Sunday to gauge their availability for Week 1. Kubiak said Foster felt better on Friday than he did on Thursday.

Hopefully we'll now late Saturday / first thing Sunday, about Arian.

I've got to go with Foster as starter and Tate as FLEX, sitting alternatives like Ingram, Amendola and Ryan Williams.

I may have done that even if Foster was a full go.

So if you have tate and Foster do you roll the dice and just go with Tate? Even if Foster is active I see them being REAL careful with him and Tate culd still get most of the carries and garbage time.....

What are owners of both going to do? I am thinking of just going with Tate and benching Foster!!!!!!!!

'Foster (knee) appears to be on track to play Sunday, according to Jason La Confora of CBSSports.com.

Spin: The Texans will monitor Foster during pre-game warmups, and we'll continue to track Foster leading up to kickoff. Ben Tate could be in line for more work Sunday, but Foster's chances of suiting up seem to be looking up, barring a setback.'

I've got both Tate and Foster and I plan on starting both (R Jennings would be my alternative).

just like people said prince fielder would struggle with a vegetarian diet

If eating pound after pound fried beef, chicken and pork is considered being a vegetarian, prince is a vegetarian.

Yeah. I'm just kidding up in here. I've heard folks say that he's gonna have a down season b/c of that, but I don't put too much stock in it.

Tony G has a fountain of youth in his backyard though, so he doesn't count. ;)
