Winter Storm Nemo: Historic Storm Ahead for North East

Recommended Posts

The calm before the storm. I'm surprised it hasn't started yet. That's probably going to keep our numbers down in R.I. but be worse for Boston West.

I'm in Cranston. The ground is now covered and it's already snowing like a mofo. It's very fine snow too. My previous post was a half hour ago and it went from no snow to street covered already. Oh boy.

I think if jocstrap wants pictures of all the weather and the geeks come through, then it's only fair he posts a pic of his wife's cans

So we played an epic neighborhood hockey game on my patio and built snow walls around it with the five inches or so we had early. I have a ton of tree damage now. I am pretty sure one will fall on my house soon. We had a bunch of lightning about an hour ago and crazy wind all night. I can't believe I still have power. We probably have close to twenty inches so far. Monster storm.

Parts of Long Island and central CT already reporting 2+ feet :shocking: That's the same area that had thunder snow. Winds have been gusting around 80 in some areas. Damn man.

A town in central CT reported 6 inches of snow in ONE HOUR :shocking: That only happens in mountains and maybe lake effect, and it's incredibly rare.

And 500k without power and growing.

Just woke up - I still have power.

But holy god that wind was ferocious. It is still howling but not as bad as overnight.

Lots of woods outside my house - lots if ice/snow encrusted forest - it will look pretty cool once this passes. If I have a chance I'll take photos and post them.

We lucked out in Southern NH. The power company said this morning that any winds over 40mph keep them from going up poles to fix down lines.

Some people may be out of power for a day or two.

MBTA (public transportation) has announced they won't reopen till Monday.

Bruins have a game at 7 tonight. I'm sure that will be canceled?

I can't get the screen open in one of my windows to take any good pictures, I'll do what I can. Car next door to my house is nearly buried.

They will play the game provided the refs and players can safely make it to the rink.

I live about 40 miles east of Lake Erie. It's refreshing to see someone else get buried for a change

They'd play it and make it free admission for locals - maybe? Bc that would be cool!

No power loss here in No. Central MA. I have no clue how much snow we got because of the wind. Huge drifts in some areas. My upper deck is clear of snow, but two of my neighbor's cars are completely buried.

Beautiful.

Yeah - force of nature is crazy - I was up to my waist getting thru the snow banks to reach the street and take photos.

We probably have 2feet with 4foot drifts.

Photoshopped. Whole thing is lamestream liberal media hokum.

I know this, because I have it on good authority that the "globe" is "warming," which means, and stop me if I'm wrong here, no more snow.

:overhead:

Can't be snowstorming of the century, and be global warming! Hah! So either we're right about global warming being liberal BS, or we're right about the liberal media conspiracy, or both! Logic one-oh-one liberal motherhumpers.

Gather round me, republican brahs. Now slap it high!

Aw, the sweet smell of ownage.

Thank the Christian God that I was born a republican, and have been a republican my whole life. I'd hate to look the fool like you ivory tower numbskulls right about now.

Trickle down. Lincoln was a traitor.

It's fun to look at and for kids to play in, but Floridians like me can't understand how people can actually live in that weather.

Pick your poison I guess.

Snow like this suxor (except for kids and photos).

But I have no desire to be in FLA in July or in Tornado alley.

I just got in from rnd 4 of shoveling. In done!

That was the mega blizzard of 13?

Wasn't even top 3 for us over the last 16 years from a snowfall standpoint, but places like Portland, ME, it was the #1 all-time.

Just so you know you aren't alone, we had a "southwester" come through Phoenix. It's currently only 54 and partly cloudy. Brrrrr..... :(

Although both Clubs and the assigned on-ice officials are in Boston, travel conditions remain too hazardous for fans, security personnel and TD Garden staff to get to the arena.

Tikigods, wrong again :D
