10 Favorite Video Games of All Time

Recommended Posts

Burn Out (PS2): The feeling of white knuckled speed mixed with true fear of crashing. Best racing game I've ever played.
Street Fighter 2 (arcade): Classic. Loved playing as Blanka and doing the roll.
Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64): One of my favorite gaming memories was fighing The Great and Mighty Poo. The funniest/funnest game ever (until South Park: The Stick of Truth is released I'll wager)
Mickey's Speedway (N64): Seems too 'kiddy', but once you unlock everything you can open triple weapons for multiplayer. Some of the best times I had with my friends was the four of us playing race after race of this game.
Gears of War (360): First time game graphics really blew me away. Viceral, bloody, meaty fun from beginning to end.
Tekken 3 (PS2): The best pure fighting game I've ever played. Skill beat button mashing, and there was enough to learn to make it fun to master while not overwhelming. Wasted many hours with friends on this one as well.
Mideveil (PS2): Little known platformer. Great characters, some really funny moments, fun puzzles to solve.
Xenophobe (arcade): Many quarters in. Many aliens killed.
Perfect Dark (N64): The first really good multiplayer FPS. Good times were had.
Mortal Kombat (arcade): I loved the crunch of this game. You 'felt' the roundhouses and uppercuts. Also who didn't squeal with joy the first time they witnessed "GET OVER HERE!!"

Street fighter II and Mortal Combat were the only 2 video games I ever was really into at the arcade. But neither compare to me wasting away countless hours in 1987-1992 playing Tecmo Bowl, Mike Tysons Punch out, and Bases Loaded.

The original Nintendo was and to me will always be the greatest ever gaming system.

Galaga-Arcade- I could turn it over without cheating.

Tempest-Arcade- No comment needed.

Manhunt-PS2- Killing someone with a trash bag in the opening scene is pretty fawking bad ass.

Tiger Woods-PS2- Best golf game by far

Pacland-Arcade- Not like pacman. You had to go thru forrest and find trees that brought you to another level.

There is a guy that wants to break the Tempest world record. That was always a fun game to play.

Defender was too hard for me. Too many buttons. But did have the coolest arcade presence at the time. Great sound and visuals. I loved walking into the old arcades: dark, low ceilings, nothing but flashing game lights and programmed arcade barkers.

Dammit you bastards!

I just went on Amazon and Ordered a old school SNES and a copy of IMO the best of the Tecmo Bowls -- Super Tecmo Bowl II on SNES. Dammit now I doubt I venture out of the house for like a month. -------- Back to being Barry Sanders in a football game.

Wizardry was great at the time. I remeber sitting with a friend and deciding if I wanted to make a L1 Ninja from the high level character I had invested in. I also got into Might & Magic & The Bard's Tale for some time. Bard's Tale was excellent.

Perfect Dark (N64): The first really good multiplayer FPS. Good times were had."

Any list I ever put together, Street Fighter 2 runs right to the top. I always played as Ken and I was just filthy with that dude. What a great game!!

Perfect Dark, IMHO, never got the respect that it deserves. The multiplayer mode was absolutely outstanding; I wasted many a college day playing that in the dorm.

In SF II I was unbeatable as the Chick or the Hindu guy with the long arms.

I just downloaded it onto my phone. I have no idea what's good, what characters to make etc. I do remember getting all pissed when my best guys would get old and die, so I'll try to push through fast.

My friend and I were kinda geeky into computers when we were in high schhol. We would go on message boards (before there was a real internet) and download really cheesy games.

Also we would break into the files of RPGs like Ultima III and give ourselves 99 everything. Having 99 gems came in handy for me since I used to get lost all the time.

I did a free trial version on my PS3 a month or so ago, and it seemed to stay pretty true to its original format...

Back in the day, Gypsybrat would work the controller and I would map out each level on graph paper....Good times

No love for SOCOM?? I was addicted before call of duty.

Worked in a game room in 80s and was able to run missile command and asteroids over on twenty five cents.

We did a charity event me and three others played both games for 24 hours straight -took turns. Raised money for family of friend who died in car wreck.

It was the first significant CONSOLE FPS, but it wasn't remotely close to being the first one, or the first major one.

Civilization 1-5

Simcity 2000 or 4

Call of Duty's

Half Life

Diablo 2

World of Warcraft

Super Bomberman

Fallout: New Vegas

Mass Effect 1-3

I still play a fair bit of video games. Right now I am traveling and in a hotel, nothing else to do besides drink some beers and play video games. Also the best way for me to kill the time on a long plane flight is to play Civilization. I will play Civ 5 if the plane has an outlet for me to plug in my laptop or I will play Civ 3 if there is no outlet. I can get 5 times the battery life on Civ 3 when compared to Civ 5.

I hardly ever play video games when I am back in Houston though, no time.

no, no, no... I had the original Bond in MY list, but it was called SPYHUNTER - and getting to the boat level was great!

also, also - RE: first person shooters.

Doom was the groundbreaker for me - Doom was epic and revolutionary and to me, put FPS games on the map.

ya the boat level was awesome in spy hunter. Doom was great (BFG FTW ) but Wolfenstein predates doom.
