You're right it is but I really doubt Zimm's gets off with nothing. People would rather be thought as politically correct than right. From his God awful Lawyer to inner cities around the country being on riot stand-by - there no way Zimmerman is getting a break here. Had he done this to a white guy no one hears about this and he gets off on self defense. This he will be lucky to just serve a few years on Manslaughter.

They better beef up police patrols if Zimmerman is not convicted of something, the animals in the hood will be out burning and raping....

When did manslaughter become part of the charges? I was under the impression the trial was for Murder 2. If Zimmerman is found innocent, double jeopardy applies. I thought manslaughter was not an option the jury could vote on.

Florida courts allow for defendants to be convicted of lesser included offenses, and manslaughter is a lesser included offense of Murder 2.

If it was Murder 2 only then Zimms would be getting off -- I still think whether he deserves it or not they will at least throw him involuntary manslaughter.

I find George Zimmerman guilty of caloric gluttony.... What the hell has he been doing? mainlining fribbles?

For the case, seems to me they are both at fault for escalating the situation.... Manslaughter. I think it being premediatated is a reach and not provable unless there is evidence we don't know about.

Put myself in that sitaution as a kid and I'm running away and notifying authorities of the creepy stalker dude.

I don't have an opinion on whether GZ is guilty or not. I do have an opinion that the state does not have enough evidence to prove him guilty of anything and if he's convicted it will simply be because of the political witch hunt this case became. I think the jury favors the defense and it's gonna be hard to score a conviction with this evidence and this jury.

The state's star witness' testimony suggests TM ambushed GZ.

Acquittal.

How many inner cities will burn? and how much will it cost the tax payer to replace the homes/businesses they burn?

Just a simple poll.

To me, it's obvious the evidence suggests he was beaten to the point he feared for his life.

He has cuts and a broken nose, etc.

Martin has bloody knuckles; Zimmerman did not (pictures are out there on the web if you wanna search)

Every piece of evidence backs Zimmerman's story (IMO).

But I realize some don't share my opinion. So in this thread, just vote...is he guilty of murder or not?

If you want to give a supporting argument, feel free.

NOTE: I'm not saying whether he'll be found guilty or not...that's a different story entirely.

My gut says Zimmerman screwed up somewhere along the line. He either confronted the kid, or lost his awareness and was blind-sided.

Regardless of whether you believe me or not, I'm somewhat of an expert in the legal aspects of self defense.

Getting your asswhooped is not grounds for use of deadly force, however, if you fear for your life, you can escalate force to lethal levels.

Of course, you will be burdened to prove that fear of life (or great bodily harm....which usually equates to permanent or long-term disfigurement).

While Zimmerman's post-shooting status doesn't look like fear of death or great bodily harm, you do NOT have to wait until you are near death to use lethal force.

Considering Martin had NO damage to him other than the gunshot wound, it's pretty obvious he was kicking Zimmerman's ass.

If you're bouncing my head off the pavement (which Zimmerman states, and evidence supports), you're getting shot because one strong enough hit puts me out.

I'm going to treat it like The Purge and get some target practice.

Definitely not murder. It is either self defense or manslaughter. I can't quite decide which.

I tend to feel Martin started it physically after some less than desirable words from Zimmerman. Zimmerman got his arse kicked, panicked and shot the kid (not really knowing whether it would kill him or seriously hurt him).

If they can prove either Zimmerman physically started it or it's Trayvon's voice screaming on the 911 call, then it is a layup for Manslaughter. If it is Zimmerman screaming and Trayvon started it physically I may lean towards Self Defense. I don't really care that he followed Trayvon or verbally questioned him, that is not an issue to me. To me, the issue is what happened after that.

Star witness could not read the letter Trayvon's family claims she wrote.

Don't read no cursive.

Another child clearly left behind.

A high school senior can't read cursive? And people wonder how well the American society is doing, damn

I think his lawyers have done a pretty good job since the knock knock joke.

And I am beginning to suspect the purpose of the joke was to make them look dopey, so when they went after witnesses hard on cross examination the witnesses would not think they were total @ssholes.

I can barely read cursive, and can't write it other than my name.

Cursive is one of those things that practically obsolete these days, and as such, is being taught less and less in schools.

You have to want to read, to learn, to achieve. If you are more interested ni sleeping, talking on the phone etc etc.....then yeah, you spend the rest of your life being stupid, blaming the white man for holding you down.

Why would they care if the witnesses thought they were total asshoals? Did you mean jurors?

Yes, the jurors. My mistake.

Unfortunately for them, I think every juror hates them right now for making them sit through this train wreck for another day.

What are the odds her entire testimony gets tossed? She's admittedly lied on several occasions, she's contradicted herself quite a bit and she's denied saying things she just said two hours ago. Her credibility has to be shot.

The jury makes credibility determinations, not the judge. The only way her testimony would get tossed is if she did something like left the stand and refused to be cross-examined.

I thought I had heard something about impeachment and the possibility of tossing her entire testimony because of it. I may have misunderstood what was said.

Is this really the prosecutions "star" witness?

I will say I thought GZ's story was going to fall apart - but the opposite has happened and basically his entire story is checking out. Not sure what the rest of the trial is like but so far I don't think there is anyway a reasonable jury could convict.

Mrs. Jabba the Hut was the star witness yes -- and Yes is was an incredible backfire. For a second I thought the DA might of been Brad Pitt from Sleepers

Considering the fact that the defense hasn't even called any witnesses yet, I'd say you're dead on.

I disagree with characterizing her as a "star witness." A key witness, sure, but if there are any stars it's going to be the 911 tapes and forensic evidence.

They thought so. Unfortunately for them it seems she wasn't entirely truthful when speaking with them originally. I have to think the state may not have charged GZ with murder 2 if she had just told the truth to begin with.

Absolutely. I thought the defense did a good job showing that she can hardly even form a thought, and her perceptions are suspect, hell....she can barely answer even the simplest of questions.

I hope the 911 tapes and other evidence is what they are hanging their hat on other wise this witness just saved GZ.
