***The Official Seattle Seahawks 2013 Season Thread***

So I had this dream that Seattle held Drew Brees to less than 150 yards on national tv....

Shiver my timbers :o

How is the opening line at S.F. favored by 2.5?

We're dogs?

Seriously??

To steal a line from Stephen A. Smith.

"That is sooooo disrespectful"!!!!!

Eh, not really. I would have been surprised to see Seattle favored, or anybody favored at San Fran other than San Fran. Reputation plays a lot into it. San Fran was laying over a TD to St Louis last week, and St Louis had been playing well recently.

I mean, keeping it in perspective, Seattle was only favored by 3.5 over Atlanta in Atlanta just a few weeks ago. Unless it's a sh!tbag team, Seattle isn't going to be a road favorite. Unless you are Denver and favored pretty much in every game by many too many points due to some early season blowouts, it's not going to happen. I wouldn't take it as disrespect as much as the linesmaker anticipating action on San Fran due to revenge and the letdown from the Monday night win.

Someone stated in another thread that Golden Tate wasn't gonna play vs SF. Haven't read this anywhere else so I thought I'd ask you fellas if you've heard anything about this?

You have 2 good teams that the line says are equal on a neutral field. Seems right to me.

Win a SB before you beat your chest.

Thanks. Curious as to what you Hawks fans think of Wilson's chances vs the 49er's this weekend?

The kid has been balling as of late & I tend to like to ride the hot hand. The Hawks don't have the flashiest set of receivers but they seem to be playing great as of late.

As a Hawks fan I'm a bit biased, but I think his chances are pretty good. We have Carpenter going at LG instead of McQuistan, which means more beef inside. Okung is back at LT. Breno is back at RT. Unger back at C. We're about as healthy at OL this season as we've ever been. More time for Wilson to do his thing, although I realize that Aldon Smith, Patrick Willis etc. are no joke.

Also the receivers have played phenomenally well, with minimal contribution from Harvin and not much more from Rice. Baldwin, Kearse and Tate are catching everything in sight.

Biggest thing in Hawks' favor is no Staley and no Iupati for the Niners' OL. I suspect that we get to Kaepernick more often than the Niners get to Wilson and that this makes the difference.

Calling it Hawks 19 Niners 16.

Biggest risk to me is turnovers. Lynch continues to put the ball on the ground and recently it hasn't hurt, but that might not be true this week.

Last I checked a non Montana or Young team have as many Bowls as we do.

Time to take your useless fishing self back to the 49er thread.

If you can't find it on page 1, do a search. The one from 1990 might come up.

I see Frisco winning this game, and definitely cover the spread. Watching the Week 2 match up, anybody could see the fact that Kaep didn't pull the ball down and take off really hurt them. They were essentially NFC champs last season because of his work on the ground. I think Harbaugh gets it, and will turn him loose. He's no shrimp like Wilson, he'll hold up in a game like this running into that defense. And though their entire left side of the line is banged up, they'll continue to pound Gore on the ground as I feel that's the way you beat Seattle, especially on the road. Seahawk's run defense has gotten absolutely gashed at times this season.

Also in Week 2 Vernon Davis went down early and was not a factor. Seattle is just average defending the tight end, and I look for Davis to have a productive day. Same for Crabtree, though he might get exclusive coverage from Sherman. In Week 2 Sherman pretty much shut down Anquan Boldin.

Though they have only one road loss, until Seattle proves they can play with the same intensity and execution on the road as they do at home, I'm not really seeing all the Super Bowl plans. But then, it's looking as if they won't have to lol...

Maybe you should email this to Pete Carroll so the team can save on airfare and hotel expenses. We'll just plan on next weeks game. Thanks!

My best guestimate. We win this week by at least 10.

That Giants game next week is the one I see as a stumbling block.

Then finish up the season with wins against the Cards, and Lambs.

I'll say 14-2 and Superbowl bound.

Serious question....

Is there any team that can beat the Seahawks in the NFC playoffs barring major injuries to key players?

I can see a team like Denver or New England being a good match up in a cold weather neutral Superbowl site like New York...but Seattle, as it seems to me, has a pretty clear path to the Superbowl.

Since you're asking... I think it depends on whether Aaron Rodgers returns in anything close to a 100% condition, and whether the Pack can sneak in. People are throwing dirt on that team, but obviously it';s a different animal with Rodgers at the helm, ESPECIALLY with the pressure it takes off their defense. Overlooked in the Rodgers injury is the fact Green Bay now has an effective running game, with the kid Lacy every bit as beast-like as Lynch and Starks running hard as well. They will match up well with the Hawks, and Rodgers won't be rattled in that animal house of a stadium.

If that clown Flynn can miracle them a victory this week over an underachieving ATL team at home, and a red-hot Philly team beats perennial mutt Detroit in Philly, Rodgers may be coming back to a very interesting situation. He's been practicing, throwing, obviously he's dialed into the game plan...IF they get in, IF, they're the team for Seattle to fear. You may be laughing, but you asked.

Interesting you bring up Philly. They may have the best chance of winning up there simply because their hurry up offense is not really based on the need to verbally communicate in that noise of the 12th Man.

Philly could be a dark horse to beat them. Other than that....I've got nothing.

They are red-hot right now, but can't really see the kid being successful in that environment. Kelly has done well to slow the game down for him, Maybe with their double tight end "12" package, and a large dose of Shady. Maybe.

Maybe is the key word...

Philly just might be the only team that can beat Seattle in Seattle. IMO.

What impresses me the most about Seattle is the poise of Wilson. He's the size of the waterboy, with those kicker's shoulder pads, I keep waiting for him to get his clock cleaned out there. But he's s a smart kid. He's not a read option quarterback, he's a football player. When he gets out of the pocket scrambling, he's looking to buy time and allow his receivers to break down the coverage. He's looking to run as a last resort. Reminds me of an old-timer named Fran Tarkenton, who'd give defenses fits with his scrambling, yet was a great passer as well.

I'm a big fan of what they are trying to accomplish from an organizational perspective.

I don't think there is much to really say about this game, other than it's a bitter rivalry between two foes very familiar with each other. This is a game San Francisco needs to win at any cost. This game for the Seahawks is simply the means to clinch #2 seed in the playoffs for now, with bigger goals down the road. The Seattle offense has opened up the playbook, much like the 2nd half of last season, once the offensive line finally got healthy after a few months of struggling. I expect a heavy does of Lynch today as he has consistently piled up the yardage on the San Fran defense. The Seahawks have won the trenches the past few meetings and figure to control the SF offensive line with the best defensive line in football. Kaepernick has never beaten Seattle.

Seattle 37

San Fran 23

This is setting up poorly. I can accept a loss. But just don't make it seem iffy. That SF/StL game last week was brutal as the Ram got butt focked over and over and over again in the 1st half with questionable calls.

I feel like Rodney tipping the caddy master, "Keep it fair, Keep it fair".

There hasn't been 1 questionable call against your team so far.

If you are going to choose to play sloppy and make mistakes, you have to accept that a team like San Fran will cash in those mistakes with points. I don't feel like SF can drive the long field without help, so stop making it easy on them.

Liar.

Edit: For example, Golden Tate didn't commit Pass Interference. He did the normal WR chuck, which is never called. Never. :dunno:

Taking a deep breath.....

I think more than anything, I've been pissed off all week at what I perceived less than fair officiating in that first half vs St Louis last week that kept sooooo many SF drives alive. It's been lingering like celery string in between my teeth and woe is me I don't have a toothpick. Curse the gods.

Let's see how the rest of the game progresses before I pop off again.

Dear Refs. I know where you live. Life in prison doesn't sound too bad right now. I'll take one for the team.
