RB in St. Louis this week?

Recommended Posts

Per Rotoworld (via Twitter) Daryl Richardson says he's not starting vs Jacksonville this weekend. Pead was a healthy scratch the past week. Benny Cunningham or Zac Stacy anyone?

:dunno:

homers?

"Daryl Richardson said via Twitter that he's not starting Sunday's Week 5 game against the Jaguars.

Richardson was asked by a fan on Twitter if he's starting this week. He responded by saying, "not this week man." On the season, Richardson is averaging just 2.71 YPC and he bottomed out with a 12-carry, 16-yard, one-drop performance against the 49ers last Thursday. It looks like the Rams have decided to bench him. The two candidates to start are Isaiah Pead (who was a healthy scratch last week, possibly for discipline reasons) and undrafted rookie Benny Cunningham. They are both worth roster spots while this mess sorts itself out."

I'm sure Zac Stacy will be in the mix as well. I wish I had a definite answer on who's starting.

Don't sleep on Cunningham. One of the reason why he was drafted was because of his injury last season.

Nice piece on Cunningham.

"Last year, Cunningham tore his patellar tendon at the end of an absolute throttling of Florida International, a game where he ran for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns (with 2 called back due to penalty). Due to his injury, the former Blue Raider was unable to finish the season, and couldn’t do any workout drills except the 40 yard dash. Using the 4.51 40 yard dash from his pro day, and plugging in average agility/explosion numbers, Cunningham is the top rated small back in my spreadsheet, narrowly edging out Giovani Bernard as the #1 running back. Two of his numbers pop out to my computer: his studly elite touchdown production, only bested by Barry Sanders for backs I’ve tracked (going back to 2000). Cunningham is also the 7th strongest back I’ve ever recorded, throwing 225 pounds up 26 times."

I added him at the cost of Pryor who I was stashing behind Brady and Vick. I live in Nashville so I'm pulling for this local kid to do well.

same...I picked up Cunningham in 2 leagues 1 of which pead was available. Way I see it, what is Isiah Pead? I'd rather take a bench flier on the upside guy. All I need to see is "Gio Bernard" and "Barry Sanders" in that evaluatio and I'm willing to see what happens. Maybe will flex him this week if he's named starter.

Nothing to lose guys.

This kid went undrafted and someway somehow found himself seeing more playing time this season over Zach Stacy and Isiah Pead.

He has the physical built to run between the tackle and can catch the ball. One of the reason he's been the backup behind Richardson and Pead is his ability to block.

"Benny Cunningham rushed four times for six yards in Week 4 against the 49ers.

With Isaiah Pead inactive, Cunningham served as Daryl Richardson's backup and saw extended playing time in the second half with the Rams in comeback mode. He added one catch for 17 yards and scored on a two-point conversion. Cunningham is an upgrade over Richardson in pass protection and should continue to push for a change-of-pace role."

Jeff Fisher: "It's Isaiah's turn. I think you'll see him get more opportunities ..." http://www.youtube.com/watch/?v=TKsHy1zt5Ns

:dunno:

This muddies the waters a little, especially with regard to the hope concerning Cunningham. Though "It's Isaiah's turn" is a little misleading out of context. Immediately before that comment, he was talking about how they can't have all five of their RBs active, so I interpret "It's Isaiah's turn" to mean that it is his turn to not be inactive and to get some opportunities. I don't interpret that to mean it is his turn to lead the backfield or anything alone those lines.

Great info. Thank you. I picked up Cunningham for Heath Miller (who I was planning to drop for a TE anyway if Gronk is out). If Cunningham gets a shot to start, I might just have to go without a TE this week (or drop the IDP I bid way too much on, Justin Houston :wall: ). Thanks, again.

here's the way i see it on pead...if they had any belief in him no way he'd be deactivated last week w the reasoning tavon was going to be involved in run game, to which tavon gets zero carries...if that was actually a plan tavon would have had carries.

benny for the win. i might even COMPLETELY roll the dice and flex him.

Are D Rich owners dropping him?

No...still has the talent...and its still early in the season.

Of course, Im also still holding on to Montee Ball in another league...so I may just be a moron believing in talent over what Im seeing.

With Richardson though, I just don't think anyone else is all that talented there to really take over.

Well, it's Richardson's second year and he really hasn't proven a thing. Let's see what Benny got....

I can't see how anyone go from a healthy scratch to starter within a week. No way, no how.

Benny Cunningham for the WIN!
