BunnysBastatrds 2,447 Posted May 8, 2014 So last year I went to a beach wedding. Rocked the Miami Vice look wearing all white and sandals sporting a good tan with the right shades. This weekend the maid of honor for that wedding is getting married in the Quarter. They're having a Catholic Church ceremony followed by a second line to a bar a few blocks away. for an hour of drinks, followed by the reception being at the wax museum. Pretty Fawking cool. But it's going to be hot as it's for 5:00. Thinking of skipping the suit that I normally wear for weddings and sporting nice slacks, shirt, and tie. Wifey wants suit. Fawk that in this heat if were walking. You skip the suit or is that considered bad etiquette?

jerryskids 6,820 Posted May 8, 2014 Church = Suit Sorry Bunny, suck it up. Yeah, suit or sport coat for a church wedding. Do you want to agree with fashion advice from penny? Also IMO the tie is more of a pain in the heat than the jacket.

But why is my fashion advice any better or worse than the rest of the middle age slobs who post here?

Haven't you admitted to not caring about fashion? That's a good enough reason, right there.
penultimatestraw 473 Posted May 8, 2014 Haven't you admitted to not caring about fashion? That's a good enough reason, right there. Fair enough. But I think most guys, even if they "care", aren't very fashionable.

But I think most guys, even if they "care", aren't very fashionable. Some of us understand fashion. Anyway, I think we've established that a jacket is a must for bunny. My personal advice would be to wear a tie for the wedding then lose it after the ceremony for the open collar evening look.

MTSkiBum 1,620 Posted May 8, 2014 I did not wear my suit jacket to my wife's brothers wedding a few months ago. I was the only one there without the jacket. I would do it again in a heart beat. Comfort > fashion.
BunnysBastatrds 2,447 Posted May 8, 2014 Fair enough. But I think most guys, even if they "care", aren't very fashionable. I'm a lot of things white trash but I am fashionable. Don't know how or why it happend, but I always dress the part. Never wear a tshirt in public other than to cut the grass. Always wear a belt. Own one pair of tennis shoes I wear for softball practice only. Own close to seventy button down shirts with collars ,that I rotate...Long/ Short sleeved. When I play golf, I look like a pro and play like a ho drinking forties. Wifey just came out and said my ties suck. I barely wear them. The ones I wear are for business. In the far depths of my closet I have ten ties that I haven't looked at or worn in a decade or two. It's the place I stash oldies but goodies that she would give away but I know they will eventually come back in style if given the chance. Got five Jerry Garcia ties I spent a fortune on back before he died. Me: what about these? Wifey: they're back in style. Go fawk yourself you lucky bastard for keeping them!!!!! Me: told you tripping ties would make a comeback! Wifey: tie die your d!ck!

penultimatestraw 473 Posted May 8, 2014 When's the last time you visited L.A.? We've got some seriously fashionable males. I also dislike LA. Too much pretense, too many people. Material wealth is celebrated to an extent not matched by any other major US city. One of my male friends moved there and starting carrying a purse. I don't even carry a wallet, so you can probably guess what I think of LA fashion.

Personally I'd rather wear a tasteful collared shift and slacks than wear a coat and tie and suffocate through the ceremony. If you plan on taking it off anyway, why not ditch the coat at least? penultimatestraw 473 Posted May 8, 2014 A wallet isn't fashion; it's a wallet. Just saying. Also, I bet a fashionable guy would think otherwise: http://www.gq.com.au/style/editors+pick/thin+wallets+for+men,24671 So you’ve found the perfect suit, you’ve taken it to the tailor for a bit of a nip and tuck, and now it fits like a glove. But you hardly want to go and ruin all your hard work and attention to detail by cramming a bulky wallet into your pocket, right? Right. Although you still might want to hang onto your traditional wallet – packed with all the usual array of old receipts and loyalty cards – for everyday use, when you’re heading off for a night out, it’s worth investing in a slim wallet or cardholder, with room for just enough essentials to get you through the evening. A bit of cash, the odd credit card, maybe your business card or two, for a spot of networking. A quality slim wallet or cardholder is a handy addition to your wardrobe, and since they're smaller than a regular wallet, they won't break the bank. Here are some of our favourites. Most of the time we agree... but being a designer myself, I tend to appreciate design in other mediums as well.

TD Ryan2 316 Posted May 8, 2014 Listen - part of being a man is being able to wear a nice suit and not look/act like mommy just dressed you in scratchy pants and a clip-on tie. You wear a nice suit, you dance with your SO, and you dance with your mother if she's there. Every wedding has that same focking doofus who can't wear a suit because he's too "blue collar" or "tough guy" to wear a focking suit and he also doesn't at least slow dance with his wife or mom. Grow a focking set of nuts already and stop being a man-child.
