Cordarelle Patterson is droppable right?

Recommended Posts

12 catches in 4 games? I can get better production out of Andre Holmes. Bridgewater doesn't even look in his direction, and despite hearing every week how Norv's gonna 'find ways to get him the ball', it hasn't happened yet.

I'll need a TE in 2 weeks, and this pud may find himself on waivers

Hard to drop but I watched all the games and it seems he cant play WR very well. They said on the telecast that Norv Turner knows teams play him for the runs and has been using him as a decoy. in my opinion he seems like he is not good at running routes so hes not there #1 WR and if he cant get anywhere OR they dont use him on screens and runs he does not have a big game. I will put him on the bench for now and if in 2 weeks he has not done anything then time to drop.

They'll figure out ways to get him the ball. It's normal for rookies/back-ups to come in and favor the second string WR that have practiced with all year. I would think Patterson will find his way into Bridgewater's favorites list.

No, this bums fluke 70yd run will let him ruin lineups for a few more weeks before people wise up and stop chasing once in a lifetime plays.

He was on my bust list but I figured what the heck take a chance on him in my last league.

Who would have thought AP and CPat would be instant fantasy defeat.

I'm trading for anything I can get.

He's exactly what he was when you drafted him. But no he's not droppable, sorry you are stuck with him. Feast or famine

Luckily I have him on a team with other options (A Brown, Sanders) and only had to start him because of Sanders' bye. Although my depth sucks in that league; only Wright as my other WR (and Gordon). May have to choose between dropping Patterson or Gordon if something good comes along, or one of the top two get hurt.

Benched him this week and for the foreseeable future. AP going down probably killed him.

He had his best games of the season without AP though at the end of last year.

I don't focking know. I'm done.

Teams are game planning against him now though.

I have him a return league and he's giving me average production so far. I keep him in for his home run potential.

If he goes into a bad funk, I do have Sanders, Harvin to replace him. If you can, hold him and hopefully he can string some nice or monster games together to get some good trade value from a team in need of a wr.

In today's nfl, no one is in need of a receiver. Only receivers that get traded are atuds, for other stud players...I can find 5 guys on the wire any given week that can be just as inconsistent as CP. Might not have the homerun potential, but no one pays a good price for home run potential while getting 3-38 production most weeks...

In the 18 team return league I have him in, we have slim pickens on the wire. He has some value than just dropping him. Just hoping for more out of him

I hear that but there are threads with owners dropping guys like Colston and Fitz. I'd gladly take either of those for this scrub.

there is the hope though that because all of Minnesota's offensive talent with any expectations whatsover has been systematically eliminated from the equation, maybe going forward Patterson will be featured.

^ Yeah no doubt. But you can't be featured if you can't get open.

They have had a quarter of a season to figure it out. Today against one of the worst defenses in the league everyone but him put on a show.

He's a raw 2nd year and w AP out the only home run hitter on that D. I have him in a return league and I expect he will be better in the second half of the year

He only had 2 touches, which shouldnt typically happen. The vikings won so it doesnt matter much. If they want to continue winning they will need to get him the ball often.

A great athlete who is, at this stage of his development, inequipped to be the #1 WR option any team, but especially on one that lacks any dynamic playmakers or a consistent, high-end possession receiver.

His route running and inexperience simply make it too easy to take him out of plays.

People just bought too readily into the hype of a guy who has one game in his career with more than 5 receptions or 54 yards receiving in a game. Without return yards he's not going to produce consistently, if at all.

He averaged just over 5 touches a game last year on offense. This year through 4 games, he's averaging just over 6.

There are very limited ways to get the ball to this guy on this team.

Have you seen his rushing statistics? He is the best running back on that team so it really isnt that hard to get him the ball. Not saying 20 carries a game, but 5 catches and 5 carries is a nice way to get a very dangerous weapon involved. Unfortunately they have decided not to hand the ball to him much the last few games.

10 career carries coming into the year with some lofty stats. He's not a good running back; he's a really fast guy who, if he gets the ball in space, can do great things. But those are gadget plays, and gadget plays are tough to run when your base offense doesn't present any big play threats. He's got a big bullseye on him for every defense.

Through 4 games he has 4 carries for 95 yards, one of them a 67 yarder (Game 1, with Peterson and the rest of the offense healthy).

Just because he's a bit bigger doesn't make him much different than a young Harvin or McCluster or other inexperienced speedster: not savvy enough to be a big threat as a WR, not built to take the punishment of a RB, dependent on either return yards or springing that one big play a game out of his half dozen touches.

He is 6'2 216 pounds out of college. I would say that is certainly big enough to take some abuse as a rb. When a player like patterson has the ability to break any play it only makes sense to get them the ball in different ways multiple times a game. All players who have big time ability have targets on them. Why do those players remain studs? Because they are a combination of quicker, faster, bigger, stronger, and smarter. Now it is early to know what level of understanding patterson really has, but he is a big player who is also really fast. There is no downside to getting the big fast guy the ball more often.

Sure he wont be making every run a 50 yarder, but the more often they are involved the more likely those plays will happen.

So the plan is to take a guy who has struggled at his position because of inexperience and a very raw skill set, and teach him to learn a new position and skill set? Few if any of his rushing attempts have been standard handoffs. Pitches, bubble screens behind the line, reverses. Gadgets.

25 collegiate rushing attempts. 14 in the pros. Is not now and has never been a RB. So you want them to line him up and teach him to take a handoff at the NFL level. Good luck.

Yes, Calvin Johnson and the like have bulls eyes. They also tend to be physical freaks (which, aside from speed, this guy isn't) and are very accomplished at what they do (which he isn't).

I'm not saying it's unwise to get him the ball. I'm saying that the combination of their personnel limitations and his limited skill set makes it very difficult to get him the ball. And expecting to overcome that by throwing new wrinkles at a guy who already appears overwhelmed isn't necessarily my idea of a recipe for success.

Sort of in the same spot. Will have to drop Gordon at some point. No real value for me when he only plays a few weeks.

Now you are starting to be a tad ridiculous. Read my post that i quoted that you also quoted. I said 5 carries a game. Dont make him the feature but a compliment. He is so fast that he only needs a little room as evidenced by his highlight reel runs. You have seen them correct? Just blowing by people like they are standing still.

Julio Jones is 1" taller and 4 lbs heavier, so yes, patterson has nice size. He isnt a monster, but if he is taking handoffs he is a bigger rb if you compare him to the average while having the speed of a dri archer 175 lb type rb.

Just get the ball into his hands like the vikes did the second half of last year and let his athleticism do the work it was meant to do. Not sure why people take everything i say way out of context in these types of debates... I am not suggesting you feature players like patterson or smith with 25 touches a game. The evidence speaks for itself that they are special players who can break a td from anywhere on the field. I think its common sense that a team should make it a point to get these gifted athletes involved.

Not trying to be ridiculous. There are multiple posts between that one, including one by you, and my reply. Missed or forgot your 5 carries, 5 catches caveat. My bad.

I could counter that calling a guy who you feel could handle 5 carries a game "their best running back" is a tad ridiculous as well. Best runner? OK. Not best RB.

And yes, I have seen them as evidenced by my responses.

Again, I'll stand by my opinion that wanting to get him the ball and getting him the ball are two entirely different things because he just doesn't have the experience and they don't have the complimentary personnel.

The shocking part is that the plays that should be going to Patterson were going to Jarius Wright. Wright was targeted 10 times mostly on quick screens and short passes. Give Patterson the same plays and he likely produces the same numbers or better. Not really sure why they aren't forcing him the ball more and giving him a chance to make plays in space.

I totally agree with Frozen on this one ! The Vikings should give him more touches carries and quick screens. What ever it takes to get him more opportunities. What a waste of a playmaker. I understand if he was banged up and using him as a decoy is a option but as far as I know he's healthy and still not getting as many targets as Jarius Wright is a total sin. Especially this past week vs a terrible Falcons defense. Give CPatt the ball !!

I grabbed him in most leagues and buying low in one I don't have him. Dreams don't die in week 4.

Except the Justin Hunter dream. And the Toby G dream. Those are dead.
