Real talk here. im 32, didnt go to college, work a 15 an hour job working from home. Going nowhere in life basically. I live in beautiful san diego, have a fiancee, drive a brand new car, pay all my bills and eat out plenty. I have a thousand dollar pc, new iphone, new clothes, its really not hard to do these things even on a meager 15 bucks an hour. All thats great, but theres no room for variance. If I break my arm I couldnt afford health care to fix it. I have no savings obviously since 15 an hour is taking home 21k a year or something like that.

 

I am very smart but have no training or job skills of any value. Im just spinning my wheels pointlessly. I know its all relative and there are prob guys here that make 100k a year yet are broke and clip coupons. Theres nothing unbelieveable aboutt the circumstances. Furthermore, those details were not the point of the story so theres no reason to lie. Its not a "hey look at how cool I am" post, its the opposite, the details were just for added context. Yet a few people are dwelling on those unimportant details despite them not having a thing to do with the point of the story. Kind of annoying. Its as if I told a story about a guy walking down a sidewalk to go to the store yet you keep asking about the sidewalk and how wide it is or what its made of. The sidewalk isnt important!

 

Plus IGW if you paid attention youd see that his post was not about the math not adding up. It was about him saying it DID add up and I should be saving 50 bucks a week. Wich is true but 50 a week is pennies, that gets spent on god knows what. I dont want 50 a week, I want 5k a week.

Sorry, I thought your first post was serious, so I offered some serious advice.

 

I think working in the oilfield is a great career path to go. The work is only difficult(and it really isnt that bad) for the first year or 2, then you get promoted to foreman or one of the many computer operator positions. Plus with Bakersfield being close you could drive back and forth and do a 1 week on, 1 week off schedule.
