Sagging Car Door

Recommended Posts

2006 GMC Envoy Denali - lately the door seems to have dropped in relation to the car, so when you close it it does not meet flush.

How do you fix?

Honestly no clue. Mechanic portion of my asvab was my lowest score cause I don't really work on cars. Always was interested in it but never had time due to sports in high school and college. Then definitely didn't have time in the military. Maybe I will start getting into it but that is more engines and s***. You're best bet is prob the dealership. They can at least tell you what's wrong with it and can fix it if you want them to or you can youtube what they are going to do and do it yourself

bring it to an autobody shop?

imagine there is something going on in the hinge that needs adjustment or replacement. Buying a mid 2000s GM product was probably a bad choice to begin with

I was hoping to try to do it myself, but the more I read overall the more I can see I just have to let the dealer do it

the washers and teflon rings have obviously failed. You can buy rebuild kits i believe

I have seen these and some more involved stuff, I think I have the potential to make it worse, and potentially increase the cost of eventually paying someone to fix it right.

my truck door made large noise, especially into a heavy wind. my mechanic said "turn your back." i said "why?" he said, "so you don't see me hanging on the door with all my weight to align it."

it probably just needs bent back up. someone with some cowboy ingenuity should be able to bend it a little without having to replace parts, or getting a new door.

Agreed, put car jack under door and raise until it is aligned. Shut door then grab beer

keep in mind sux, other than doing dishes, these girls are clueless with their hands.

this. We make fun of uneducated plumbers and mechanics, but when there's a need, it's great that they're around so we don't have to get dirty. It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round. And we need ditch diggers, garbage men, plumbers, and mechanics.

My son, who recently started Basic Training in the USAF scored highest on the mechanical portion of the ASVAB with practically zero experience working on cars. :dunno:

Well, if you don't feel like you can change a bushing maybe you should trade it for a purple Miata.
