President Trump - it's on!

So anyone who gets a scholarship isn't self-made?

Not really. Having someone pay your way is the anti-thesis of SELF made, wouldn't you say?

Nope, my last post was spot-on.

I refuse to get in some Shonuff vortex of semantics, talking in circles and double talk. So have a good one. Enjoy the NBA game. :)

Hands in ears like a child after you were ahown...by eds own words, to be nothing but spin.

Too focking funny

It is all that is wrong with american politics.

Money talks and that's all anyone gives a sh1t about.

open your eyes

You feel this way because you want your Presidents bought and paid for by Special Interest. If you have your eyes open you sure need glass.

As is the case with 90% of billionaires, he was rich the day he was born. It always cracks me up when people talk about how hard these guys worked for their money. The custodian at my local high school works hard for his money, too. LOL @ guys who are born on third base and think they've hit a triple.

90%, huh?

Every year FORBES crunches the numbers to find out which Americans rank the richest–and each year it gets harder to join the exclusive Forbes 400 list. But you don’t have to inherit a fortune to become a Forbes 400 billionaire. In fact, the majority of our Forbes 400 members–273 of them–scrapped their way onto our list through their own efforts.

Forbes? I guess the publisher of Forbes is on the list of those who scraped their way to their riches. Self made Bilionaires in Real Estate and Investments? Uh, no.

I am not sure who the head of the RNC is anymore. But whoever it is should be fired for allowing 12 man clown car with trunk behind the wheel.

Forbes? I guess the publisher of Forbes is on the list of those who scraped their way to their riches. Self made Bilionaires in Real Estate and Investments? Uh, no.

A total of 1,645 people made the 2014 billionaire list, represented combined wealth of $6.4 trillion.[1] Of those, a record 268 were newcomers, surpassing 2008's 226 newcomers.[2] The list included 42 female newcomers.[3] One hundred people listed in 2013 failed to make the list.[1] The number of women on the list rose to a record 172 in 2014, up from 138 the previous year.[2] However, only 12 of them were completely self-made without the help of parents or spouses.[4] Overall, 66% of the list was self-made, 13% achieved their wealth through inheritance alone, and 21% through a mixture of the two.[3] The combined wealth of the top 20 rose from $714.5 billion to $838.6 billion.[2]

The United States had 492 billionaires on the list, the most of any country.[1] The country also had the most newcomers with 50, and women with 54.[2] China had the second most billionaires with 152, including 37 new names. Russia was third with 111.[1] Algeria, Lithuania, Tanzania, and Uganda were all represented on the list for the first time.[3] Sixteen of the female billionaires came from Germany, the second most of any country.[2] Turkey saw the most people drop off the list, 19, due to high inflation in the country.[3]

Maybe your definition and Forbes definition of "self made" is different than mine? And I fail to see how someone who became a Billionaire on Wall Street can be described as self made. That goes for Real Estate too. They are both based on the notion of "other people's money".

You're obviously not done. :weary:

You're obviously not getting the point either. I'll try again.

Newbie: 90% of Billionaires were rich the day they were born

Sux: Not true. Here's a link proving that over 50% of them weren't.

Ok. I was contradicting the self made descriptor, which is the title of the article you presented to make your point.

Fair enough

I'm also not naïve enough to think that quite a few didn't already have a substantial amount of $$$ to start with.

The old saying, it takes money to make money, right?

Pretty stunning thread. I had no idea so many are establishment type guys here.

Heard the same shtt about Reagan. In fact, seeing BOTH sides kicking and screaming in this thread is DEFINITELY going to make me take a much closer look at Trump. Most of the crap he said he would do, I bet 75% of the country, or more, are on board with. Closing the border. He could win on that alone.

Reagan ran against Carter. Lay up. Trump isn't the first guy to run on closing the border. None of those guys won.

IF somehow Trump were to get the nomination and ran on building a border fence to keep illegals out, THAT alone would elect him since the overwhelming majority of folks want that to happen and have wanted that for decades.

I have no idea about Trump. I never took him seriously, until I read this thread. Seeing BOTH sides going nuts like this tells me I may want to take a closer look at this guy because that sounds like just what we need, someone the establishments hates, just like they did Reagan.

I just watched part of the sound bite from his announcement. Right after his talking points about building a wall to keep Mexicans out, he called them criminals and rapists, followed up with, I'm sure some of them are good people.

Have not heard the speech, so I am not sure yet. I would not be surprised if he was talking about how Obama keeps letting illegals out of our prisons and just turns them loose on the US citizens because their own countries will not even take them back.

SICK of establishment folks. I am not supporting anyone yet, but so far, I know I want Trump in this race and Carly Fiorina too. Also the establishment GOP b1tch and moan about Ted Cruz CONSTANTLY. So he would probably be decent. I know he is a conservative too. He will DESTROY folks in the debates and I am looking forward to that.

The Establishment hated Reagan? He got endorsed by the Teamsters for Gods sake. You need to do some reading. You can't just go around saying things that have no basis in reality. He won in a landslide, including New York. New York! Come on man. Who wasn't endorsing him?

I't not that we're devoid of good candidates, I've got 5 or 6, but none of the candidates I like have a prayer. Now, I don't like Trump either but I know he'll at least keep the process entertaining. Sadly, this is about more than a process. The truth is, one of these underwhelming focksticks really is going to be the next president.

This 2016 election field is so utterly depressing. I don't think it's possible to be less enthused.

Dude, yes, the establishment hated him. I am not talking once he won the nomination, I am talking in the primaries. It took a grass roots effort. The GOP establishment did not want Reagan to win the nomination they wanted Bush.

I'll play. Who's the establishment you speak of? They hated a pro life, pro military, low tax, tough on crime Christian? What was so anti republican establishment about him that they hated? They hated th guy that almost won the nomination 4 years earlier, with an incumbent running? They hated the guy who gave the "shining city on a hill" speech?

Are you focking kidding me??? You seriously do not know what I mean when I say the establishment??? I will give you a hint, it is made up mostly of career politicians who run their party, usually folks who have won several elections and are established in one house or the other. They use this power to threaten the new guys who want to change things and not stay with the status quo.

What did he want to change that the establishment disagreed with?

I didn't follow the 1980 election since i was only nine years old. I do remember not liking Iran at the time because they took those hostages and the angry people there were scary looking.

It is not that they disagreed so much as they just wanted THEIR guy. Maybe you should look into the 76 and 80 primaries and see for yourself. Perhaps you were younger and did really pay as close attention as you do now.

Do you see how the GOP treats the Tea party guys now??? Stuff like that is what I am referring too. They did not want Reagan to win either of those primaries. They wanted Bush the time Reagan finally won the nomination in 1980.

No. No correlation between Reagan and the Tea Party. Not even close. He almost beat Ford in 76. He was the front runner as soon as Carter beat Ford. Sorry you want to make Reagan something he wasn't. It's not necessary. Reagan got 97% of the vote at the republican convention. Bush got less than 1%. Stop now.

It might have been worse back then. He did do that, and the establishment HATED it. Sure he got all those votes by then because the people were voting for him in the primaries despite the "He can never win" rhetoric the establishment poured out. In the end, they had no choice. They wanted Bush. How the fock you could not know this is beyond belief, in fact, I'm not buying it.

So, the establishment couldn't muster more than 1% of the vote for the guy they wanted? I'll ask again, what did Reagan want to change that made, like you said earlier, the establishment hate him? Should be an easy enough question to answer.

If Trump had plans of running for president in the future, he should have never gone so full retard on the birth certificate thing. That painted him as a looney bird to all but about 10% of the population.

Trump is too outspoken and doesn't have a filter. And has some paranoid conspiracy theory tendencies. Just wait till they dig up some of the other crazy stuff he's said over the years.

I think it demonstrates his extremist views, but I expect him to moderate his message and focus on things such as the economy, immigration and conflicts overseas. I expect that he has likely hired some PR staff to help him refine his message. And like anyone else running for POTUS, nothing he says during the campaign should be trusted.

Oh I agree 100%. He already has a team of people telling him to pipe down. But there's just so much out there already. He is single-handedly going to make the GOP race entertaining.
