NewbieJr 541 Posted August 13, 2015 how do you know if he knew anything? it's worse if he throws equipment guys to the wolves and he doesn't really even know if or what they did. Please stop. He knows they did because he told them too. We're coming up with a hypothetical speech he could have made to make it look a little less worse than it is. The ball boys were fired. They were obviously already thrown under the bus.

parrot 789 Posted August 13, 2015 If Brady had said something like that...rather than claiming he knew nothing, refusing to give them information (until he gave up some emails and a spreadsheet)...there is zero chance they suspend him 4 games like they did. You make it out that the NFL as a whole hated the Pats and Brady and were just on some witch hunt to destroy them. Its laughable. Yeah, why, oh why, would anyone in the crazy competitive NFL ever want to see the winningest team of the last 15 years damaged? Why that might slow their roll and make other teams relatively more competitive. What a laughable, tin-foil hat suggestion! The NFL didn't need to be anything "as a whole"; once the incorrect Mort tweet was in the wind, a lot of the course was set; it's the old "a lie makes it halfway around the world before the truth gets its boots on". Magnificent Bastard 191 Posted August 13, 2015 no newbie... the fondness only comes around after a historical look back - the Cowboys, Steelers, and (to some degree) 49ers were hated. Gretzky was hated. Russel and Chamberlain were hated LeBron is hated Bird was hated The Yankees were hated The Canadiens were hated Marino was hated and for all of them, not so much anymore... No one hates Jeter.

Because I'm not a blind homer who assumes Brady is innocent and hasn't been lying. He knew what went on...and there are ways to get around even throwing them under the bus. There were ways to avoid this circus...Brady and the Pats took the hard way

NewbieJr 541 Posted August 13, 2015 No one hates Jeter. The Yankees were hated because of their huge payroll and all their success over the years. Lebron was hated for a year or two after the Decision. Bird was revered. That's more Boston paranoia. The Patriots are the most hated sports team of the century. It's all about Belichick's smugness and all of their cheating. Not the winning. .

Its also telling that the actual players and coaches hate the patriots too. Usually when a team is hated by the rival fans for winning they have tons of respect from the rest of the league. Even past opponents of the old niner, cowboy, steeler teams respect them. But ask any opponent of the pats what they think of them. "cheaters, liars, they stole our plays, deflated our balls, tuck rule BS, etc etc.".

But ask any opponent of the pats what they think of them. "cheaters, liars, they stole our plays, deflated our balls, tuck rule BS, etc etc.". And yet.... Of the 100 players surveyed, 72 percent thought that the Patriots did, indeed, deflate game footballs. But only a scant 16 percent said the act made them upset. Further a full 60 percent said they wouldn’t call the Patriots cheaters over the incident. Additionally, 80 percent of the players judged Brady’s four-game suspension too harsh. And 88 percent said that the NFL’s commissioner shouldn’t be the sole arbiter of discipline for the league. One clue as to why players are not that upset over the deflated balls is in the fact that 52 percent felt that the deflated balls couldn’t have changed the outcome of a game.Another little disconnect came in questions about cheating. The players surveyed said that 30 percent of players try to cheat during games. But on the other hand, 71 percent said that no one on their own team ever cheats

parrot 789 Posted August 13, 2015 The shield had nothing to gain by taking Brady out. Nothing. "The Shield" is a collection of individual organizations who generally put their own interests first and who have a LOT to gain by "taking Brady out". And The Shield is led by an incompetent boob who has misstepped in almost every way possible where disciplinary issues are concerned. That's why this wasn't nipped in the bud like it should have been. We've been talking about hypothetical from Brady; let's talk about the hypothetical that should have happened, the one where Goodell says, "Given the vagaries of the ideal gas law, a principle we were unaware of until recently despite it being taught in every Jr. high physics class in the country, and the fact that we have NEVER paid ANY attention to this issue previously, and therefore have no kind of comparative data or even a minimally reliable data collection system, there is really nothing conclusive here on which to base any kind of finding or punishment. We will be more attentive to the issue going forward. Have a great day." But, of course, this would have required leadership from Goodell, and maybe enduring even more criticism. Instead he escalated it into the ridiculous Wells Report and abdicated his enforcement powers to Vincent. Such a farce.

tanatastic 2,062 Posted August 13, 2015 "The Shield" is a collection of individual organizations who generally put their own interests first and who have a LOT to gain by "taking Brady out". Alot to gain by taking out their best player, best looking player, on one of the most popular teams? Got to be the silliest thing iv heard in this thread by a mile. This isnt an episode of law and order. Edit: Ok you mean the shield as in the collective of owners? In that case yes, alot of them want to see the pats afll and would love Brady gone. I feel ya. parrot 789 Posted August 13, 2015 Go on A much harder row to hoe for the Pats, the team that has played in 6 Super Bowls in the last 15 years, and won 4. There are 31 teams that are happy, either secretly, or not, that Brady might be sitting out 4 games. And a ton of fans that feel the same way.
tanatastic 2,062 Posted August 13, 2015 Yeah why would other TEAMS ever not want to see Brady on the field? That's quite the silly suggestion. Every team in the NFL, first and foremost, want to win football games and proceed as far as they can in the playoffs, and hopefully win a Super Bowl. EVERYTHING else follows from that. I guarantee you the Seahawks, players, coaches, fans, OWNERS, were happy to see a gimpy Rodgers last year. And their counterparts on the Pats were happy to see the banged up Seattle secondary. If you don't understand that teams want to WIN GAMES, first and foremost, you really shouldn't even bother watching the sport. Maybe you should stick to Law and Order. Yea I would def do everything in my power as an owner to get tom out of the picture. Hes basically one of the gatekeepers of the AFC. I could imagine them putting pressure on Roger to drop the hammer on any hint of foul play.

You are seriously dreaming if you think it benefits the league to have one of its marquis players out. A lot of people think he did, only they called it "playing baseball". And Brady's popularity is NOTHING like Jordan's was. Jordan was the most popular athlete on the planet and there wasn't a runner-up. He transcended team loyalties and was almost universally liked. Brady probably has as many haters as fans, maybe more. Off the top of my head; 13 playoff appearances, 9 conference championships games, and 6 Superbowl appearances. Yeah, no one would be happy to see that team start in a hole. You are seriously dreaming if you think it hurts the league in any meaningful way to have one its marquee players out for 4 games, or that many TEAMS aren't very happy about it. You think any other teams are going to be sad if the Pats start 0-4 because it might hurt the LEAGUE? Get serious.

That some of you still think the ideal gas law is why the balls were deflated is telling...you bought into the BS the Patriots are selling. Once again, you are talking out of you ass. No one said anything about it being a "strategy" or anyone trying to "get rid" of anyone. That's just the retarded voice inside your head. It's not some grand conspiracy, it's just a failure of leadership which gave an opening for people to forward their own agendas.
