Then he shot 2 more in the back and a third one who was sitting down from point blank range after saying "You look okay - have another one." He considered then gauging that mugger's eye out with his keys but reconsidered. Goetz said he would have continued shooting then all but he ran out of bullets. This is all from his own account to police.

 

Look, I am all in favor of concealed carry permits and defending oneself from assault. I stop short of calling a guy a hero for using vastly more force than the situation calls for, especially when he's unloading a gun in a subway full of bystanders.

While legalized abortion seems to have had a tangible impact, leading to an overall nationwide reduction in crime in NYC the issue was still pretty bad into the mid-90's, until Bill Bratton went to war with the criminals.

 

This was impressively impactful, but it sure did get criminals crying loudly about being harassed....or messed with....or the meanie police being mean to them......boohooo. The people, the GOOD people, of NYC have been benefiting from this for two decades now....
