Is It Hypocritical?

Recommended Posts

That because people don't agree with NCs bathroom law they decide to not do business there anymore? Such as performers not playing there because they don't agree with their beliefs so hey want nothing to do with them

No, it's capitalism working it out.

I see it as hypocritical. They have no problem playing in countries that women and the LGBT community is subject to persecution but the moment a man has to use a mans restroom and not a woman's restroom it's all of a sudden a big deal.

To me it feels like we are working to decide if sexual preference is a protected class. Because you can discriminate against anyone as a business owner, unless it happens to be a protected class. Right?

Kind of like "you're discriminating against them. That's wrong!" Yet they then discriminate against NC and refuse to do business with them. Hypocrisy at its finest

I love how conservatives favor letting the free market run its course... Until a boycott happens.

They only ones getting screwed by performers are the folks who bought tickets. It's dumb

I think it's flat out retarded. They are preaching not to discriminate yet they do the very same thing. Has no effect on me whatsoever but just makes them look like an ass

I read a blurb about how one of these performers and or companies that are banning NC over this law, have done and do business with one of those crazy mooslim countries that kill gays. That to me is a bit focking hypocritical. At the end of the day though, who cares about some washed up has beens like Springsteen and who is that other ? Bryan Adams.

If I identify as black can I go around saying "what's up my niggas?" To black people and not get my ass whooped?

It's not legislating morality, it's legislating biology. If the state voted, I see nothing wrong with it, and every business has the choice to do what they want.

People need to pick their battles, and both sides on this one is dumb

I want to identify as a dog and hump your legs.

That's the big issue, people are self identifying. I want them to identify as a bird and jump off a building

Can you change your mind when you self identify? Like one day you identify as a woman and use the women's restroom and changing room. Then change your mind and go back to a guy? What's to stop someone from doing that?

no they don't....the law prevents localities from passing any local anti-discrimination laws. Which, suddenly the repubtards are against local control. Or from raising their minimum wage or from mandating paid sick leave. If you can explain how those things are related other than being standard arrows in the flat-earth quiver, you win a prize lollipop.

Raising minimum wage and sick leave raises cost.

Yes it would be hypocritical for a business or performer to do business / perform in a ME country that is abusing to women and gays but refuse to work in NC.

For the record, I actually support this bill, and think the whole thing is insane.

But I do love how a bakers beliefs are sacrosanct, but a musicians aren't.

well thanks for making my point then. There are plenty of reasons, from a broad spectrum of political leanings, to protest this law.

In the long run, NC will make out. Springsteen fans have $150 more in their pocket and only the true wackos are going to continue to boycott. No one needs them.

You can't "discriminate" against the people or state making the laws. Doesn't work that way.

I don't think it's hypocritical. People have a right to boycott if they take offense. I support that right. I also support the right of the government of NC to run their state as they see fit (post Jim Crow, I think the Feds were right to administer that slap on the wrist fifty years ago.)

Private business should be able to boycott whatever they want.

Private business should not be mandated by the gov't (City of Charlotte) how to run their restrooms

And its perfectly okay for a person to call out a business or a sports league or a rock band for being hypocritical when they stop doing business in North Carolina but continues to do business in Texas or China or Saudia Arabia. All of which have less protection for LGBT's than NC.

I'm so over all this fake outrage and hyperbole.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not outraged at all. In fact, I find the outrage ludicrous.

And is it hypocritical to play in Saudi but not Charlotte? Sure it is.

And yeah, I agree. This whole constantly butt hurt version of America sucks. It's really a combination of effects of a 24 hour news cycle treating serious issues like a reality show.
