IGotWorms 4,058 Posted July 18, 2016 San Cristobal, Dillon, boulder reservoir, chat field reservoir, grand lake ring any bells? Or are you guys always this skeptical of new posters? My in laws live in Denver. Wife is from there originally. Don't think I've ever seen a boat or a boat trailer or any other sign of a boat in the many times I've visited. Ditto visiting my sibling in neighboring New Mexico. Must just be coincidence though

Must just be coincidence though I cant think of a better place to start my boat detailing career than sunny colorado. I live in san diego, im thinking of starting up an igloo renovation business. If that fails due to too much business I can always pivot to rain and flood insurance, im sure thats big here.

Im not making fun of that at all in the slightest, nor would I ever. Its obvious that I was implying that colorado is an odd place to find alot of boats to clean. Look at my last couple posts here, its obvious im fanning the flames of skepticism.
DankNuggs 305 Posted July 18, 2016 For some reason my boat has a large bilge. I am in the process of cutting out the deck and building a custom fish box to fit in that space. Leaving only about 2 foot by 2 foot by 16" space in the bilge for bilge and livewell pumps. I am also cutting out the front of my center console to install a custom cabinet. I am making the cabinet easily removable so that I have easy access to the wiring. After those two projects are complete, I have forward seating that doesnt have storage space. I will cut the top off of the seats and convert the seats into storage space. Really this is all practice for my next boat. I am trying to improve my fiberglass skills. I am doing all of this from scratch, my only purchases are foam, fiberglass cloth, resin, and the hinges/latches. You should research whether you need to upgrade your bilge pump if you are going to substantially reduce the bilge area. I imagine they are engineered in tandem, but I could be off. I had to help my old man install this integrated GPS, radio and navigation system and was running wires all over the place to reach antennas and other nonsense. It took a whole day out of my vacation in the sweltering heat. I visited again a few months later and he decided to sell his boat and get another one... Bull . You were trying to be a smart ass. You guys asked what I did. I told you detail boats. In other words, wash, wax, buff, clean. Is that something someone would lie about or do you feel the need to question everything someone says? You do realize my state has lakes right? A good deal of lakes where people go boating and skiing. We also have mountains. Do I own a business here? No. I work for someone. Is this how you treat all the new people here? Yes, we feel the need to question everything someone says due to the history of deception and alias antics. Yes im being a smart ass but only about the validity of your identity and backstory, not what you do. I think looking down on someone for what job they do is as low class as it gets. you could tell me you worked at mcdonalds and I would never make a single wisecrack about it. You are guilty until proven innocent here. A pic with you holding a snowboard and a piece of paper saying "Hello GC, Vyse 7/18/2016" is the only first step in earning credibility. Even then, it could just be djgb13s buddy he got to take the pic of.
NorthernVike 2,087 Posted July 18, 2016 I've got embedded mold on the seats of my boat. What do you recommend for getting it cleaned up? I've tried spray and forget but that shiot didn't work. What do you use?

MTSkiBum 1,620 Posted July 18, 2016 You should research whether you need to upgrade your bilge pump if you are going to substantially reduce the bilge area. I imagine they are engineered in tandem, but I could be off. It should not make any differrence, but I am already am running two bilge pumps, each with twice the GPH of the OEM model. I take my boat 50 miles offshore, I do not take chances with bilge pumps. Plus my boat is foam filled, it will float and get on plane completely swamped. I had to help my old man install this integrated GPS, radio and navigation system and was running wires all over the place to reach antennas and other nonsense. It took a whole day out of my vacation in the sweltering heat. I visited again a few months later and he decided to sell his boat and get another one... I did that earlier this year. Part of the reason I am cutting open my console is to completely rewire my boat. I am going to install all new fuse plates, switches, and gauges.

Don't let anything these guys say bother you, most are in the midst of a mid-life crisis and just want to give you a hard time. Absolutely no common sense or free thinking. I just come here because you can find some of the most offensive (and most of the time pretty hilarious) comments on the internet. Work part of CO are you in? I worked a winter season in Vail a few years ago for the hell of it.

I live in san diego, im thinking of starting up an igloo renovation business. If that fails due to too much business I can always pivot to rain and flood insurance, im sure thats big here. On the face of it there doesn't seem to be much demand for your services there. BUT if there IS a guy needing his igloo renovated in San Diego, you'd pretty much have the market cornered and could name your price. What's he going to do, ship it off to Alaska for service? So maybe it's not so crazy.

Bier Meister 1,710 Posted July 18, 2016 My house is pretty close to Lake Dillon. While a short season, there is boating (and a boat house). Grand lake has boating as well ( very thriving boating community). Detailing might be a nice side job for the off-season from the winter jobs. in high school a few of my friends would do this in tiburon and sausalito in the summer time. Sho Nuff 720 Posted July 18, 2016 I guess it beats constantly replying to someone who is ignoring you. Its always fun when posts of mine have a reply within minutes...getting that "you have ignored....view post anyway" message over and over again every day. Almost pity the guy. At least if you are talking with yourself...there is "someone" talking back.
