....just can't get on board with him. Could be wrong. The opportunity is certainly there. For some reason, I prefer Langford.

I have him ranked as a Rb 2 right now .

Problem I have with Langford is that the Bears really seem content of using a RBBC with what looks like three Rbs .

And coach Fox as a history of doing so .

Jones is next years first rounder. Gonna get sweet discounts this season.

He is going to Tre Mason you.

Honestly, I am just guessing with mid round rbs. I try to take one early because I am just guessing. I usually guess wrong with running backs. I can find value at every other position, but without a David Johnson this year I have no definitive idea.

At least Jones doesnt have an all time talented guy around him like Tre did. That was just a bad call. Jones figures to be a high volume candidate off the bat.

I agree that he will. I just think his fumbling problem isn't going to go away.

Tiki Barber once had a fumbling problem , and they worked it out and he did pretty good .

With some help from his coaches he might fix that problem , I'm saying he will and will be a good Rb 2

Why? AP has had fumbling issues and he's improved. Its not that difficult a skill to improve.

The bigger issue with Jones is how the RBs will be utilized. As a homer I don't trust Jones enough to draft him for fantasy right now. As a fan, I think the kid has the ability to be a hell of a back.

Don't look now but Keith Marshall is in the rear view mirror. This felt like an unrealistic fear for me, but I kept thinking about Marshals combine numbers, and games I watched when he was at Georgia, each time I thought about keeping Jones. I don't think he wins the job, but he's good enough to get some touches and earn more. He's got high end skill, and if this guy wasn't injured we'd be talking about him as a likely starter after he was drafted in the mid rounds. Instead he falls to the 7th and is now the healthiest he's been in 3 years backing up a guy most people can't decide is an NFL starter or a backup.

Just a few thoughts. I'll prob grab him as a last round pick.

The head coach likes to use multiple backs. It's not good for our fantasy lives.

But....Go Skins!!!

He definitely looks like he's not going to get many 3rd down oppurtunities.

Also, the running game looks terrible, but I'll give them a little benefit of the doubt for preseason game 1.

Yeah, uh, Trent Williams didn't play. That's kind of a big deal.

But you're right about the role. It's going to be a sneaky RBBC. Gruden likes to mix in the backs.

i like the way matt jones runs... I had Alf and immediately got that pit in my stomach when i first saw Jones running like Marshawn/Ivory with anger and purpose... Washingtons OLine sucked last year, i think he is better than his stats, whether they improved enough to make him a solid starter remains to be seen

Actually, for every RB who has a fumbling problem, there is one Tiki Barber for every 6 or 7 Steve Slatons. (feel free to insert the names of other RB's with fumbling problems who are out of the league now)

I read the offseason press release saying they think they have resolved this kids fumbling problems. But they say that in the offseason about every guy in this category. Most of the time they come back and fumble some more.

This is a player I'm waiting on. I'm watching camp, I'm gonna get ahold of every camp report I can.

If I sniff anything that leads me to believe this kid is not over this issue, I'm moving him way down my draft list. If I see any good hits that would normally cause a fumble and he hangs onto the ball, I'll move him up.

for now, he's a low end RB2 for me. If that means someone else gets him, so be it. He looked okay as a rookie, but didnt blow the doors off. Flashed some talent at times, but I dont think there is enough upside to warrant overpaying for him. for me, overpaying would be anywhere inside the top 15- RB's on the board. (give or take).

At this level, should he resolve his fumbling issues, he could be a nice payoff for you. If he doesnt resolve those issues and gets some bench time, you arent killing your team either.

This is pure risk management. of course, you can alter these projections based on things you see & hear in camp (especially with respect to his ability to hang onto the ball which is the key issue)

There was once a guy named David Wilson. I drafted him in the 2nd round. Thats the end of the story, hope you liked it, cuz I didnt.

I remember him. Bad Fumbling problems.

I think Bryce Brown had the same issue. Lit it up while he played, but just couldnt hang onto the football.

I keep thinking the back to have in Washington is Thompson, at least in Ppr leagues

I don't think Wilson really had many fumbles. As I recall, he put the ball on he ground in his first game (too hyped up?) and what was memorable was Coughlin's intolerance for it. I'll remember Wilson more for his all too short, NFL career, stunted by significant injury.

Matt Jones is in the old Alfred Morris role. Very little value in PPR leagues. Chris Thompson will steal all the 3rd down and 2 minute drill work.

Matt Jones is a pure 2 down between-the tackles runner. Fumbled a lot last year.

Avoid in drafts.

He's sooo bad. he doesn't pass the eye test on the field or even on his highlights at youtube. He's not very good and REdskins took him in the 3rd when he was a projected late 5th rounder...

He's got a great situation, but he does not have the talent and that is when a bust occurs. Great situation, not the talent, but you hope it works.. This is a situation to monitor to see when Keith MArshall should be added to the roster. IT's too early to have Marshall take up a spot but I would think he starts by week 9.

just saw that matt jones is out for preseason, what to do with Redskins RB situation now? still jones reminds me a little of atlanta last year when No one knew who to draft.

Chris Thompson gets a little more interesting. On top of being their pass catcher he may also be taking a decent amount of carries. Dude could be one of those guys like Charles Simms last year. Nothing majorly flashy, but by week 7 we realize he is near top 10 ppg in ppr.

Thompson is def one of those guys that sneaks up on you when browsing stats a few weeks in. Kind of like how Theo Riddick was last year. Im still holding firm on Jones as he will be back and starting, but its fine to bump him down if need be. In the league I got him in, I also got Langford so he can start if it comes to that.

He is a combo of Zac Stacy and Tre Mason.

I'd say more Zac Stacy and David Wilson. If he goes MIA while injured and gets checked into a psyche ward, that Tre Mason call will spot on, though.

So how about Rob Kelley?

I was looking at some DEEP sleeper Rbs and picked him up, Jones is injured and Thompson is mostly a passing down back?

Kelley is reportedly second on the depth chart now

Everyone has been touting Keith Marshall all offseason but from what I'm hearing is Rob Kelley is ahead of him and next in line for carries. I don't think Thompson's role changes as he is great at what he does catching balls out of the backfield. Could this be another Alf Morris situation where the unknown guy takes over and runs away with the job? I'm monitoring this one closely as Kelley could be had for nothing right now. Marshall was a 7th round pick and Kelley was an UDFA so it's not like they have a ton invested in Marshall. The better player will play and right now it's Kelley.

Marshall hasn't shown anything. But he hasn't played with the starting line. The backup line blows.

Starting line doesn't look like much either

Trent Williams hasn't played a snap. He's a nightmare beast game changer. Best player on the team.
