What's the dumbest thing you've ever seen in one of your drafts?

wali lundy 2nd round. I still play in a league with the guy and he still loses all sense of adp after the 5th or 6th round because he's never fully prepped to draft. At that point, he starts randomly taking folks and we groan at him and say 'you could've waited' for about half of his picks. And it's all on the table: YOUR handcuffs 5 rounds early, rando Cowboys and Texans, and/or just any player he 'knows' from whatever college teams he watched from the season before. Horrible thing: every other year or so, he'll stumble into some great late season performances from someone else's handcuffs and be all in the mix during the playoffs. And trust me...its stumbling and bumbling randomness. He's a great reminder that sometimes it-shay happens.

 

A dude took a defense in the first round. It was my buddy's family and friends league with folks who don't play. Shockingly, that league didn't last. And oh...defensive and qb scoring was mathematically absurd vs other positions so the dude who took steeler d in the first round was in the mix all year. Lesson learned. *

 

* don't play in friends and family leagues if you're a nerd/snob who is trying to play in a 'legit' league with active and 'knowledgeable' owners.

Oldest league I'm in is in year 25. 10 team standard. My best buddy is lifelong patriots fan even though we live in Pennsylvania. He asks me before draft where I think Brady will go. I say round 5. So, another guy beats him to it and takes him round 5. Right after the live draft, my buddy trades his second round pick Lamar Miller straight up for Brady. I wanted punch him with all my might. Just gave the owner with Peterson, Marshall and Cooper a possible title and at least on paper the best team going in.

Typically funny picks are people take a Kicker way too early, like round 8 when almost everyone else waits until rounds 12-14. Point differential between kickers in a 12 team league is not that significant, outside of the top 3, to the bottom 12 the point differential is about 15 points.

 

Probably one funny thing was one guy had such a bad team from last year he KEPT Sammy Watkins as his keeper. Someone else drafted Greg Olsen with the 10th pick in the first round. We are a 1/2 PPR league, but still, his ADP is like round 5.

2 TE's in first 4 rounds. And Devonta Freeman at #2 overall pick. Sheesh.

 

Obviously he was ridiculed during the draft. His reason was he can play the other TE in the flex position.

I have seen much worse keepers than Watkins.
