Many of us have made the mistake of going down this rabbit hole...and drawn the same conclusions.

Laughable thing about ankle-biters: they are incapable of piling on. They think they are, but all they're really doing is falling all over themselves in the dirt.

MensaRetard,

Your own link says the major online poker sites were based offshore. This is probably not an area you want to argue with me. But if you choose to do so, let's make it easy. Name me one major online poker site that was based in the U.S..

Yes the government can shut cryptos down the same way they can shut anything else down. But they wont. If the US government doesnt embrace this we will get left behind. Everyones worried about the Paris Agreement and this and that. This is the real issue. If the US doesnt get behind this or suppresses this technology say goodbye to the West holding a majority of the wealth. Thats why it wont happen.

If they had banned computers, mobile technology or GPS that would be a blip on the radar in comparison to banning cryptos.

I look at investing in Ethereum as investing in the entire internet when it was in its infancy. That's the best way I have seen it described in the articles I have read.

Remember when the iPad came out and it was mocked? People who invested into Apple at that time made a lot of money because of the people scared off by the negative reviews. Only this whole crypto thing is like a billion times bigger in scope

This is long term investing for me though. I know people who try to play the swings. I'm going to put money into different coins and hope they take off.

Does anyone have any insight on how CC is being accounted for on corporate balance sheets and related footnotes?

Interesting question. If a business accepts cryptos and the transaction is confidential, what does the accounting look like and how are those sales recognized and taxed if applicable?

Let's Poker

LOL. yeah, that's why I specifically said "major" site. Remember, Let's Poker paid for my entry in to the WSOP main event. So they're very dear to my heart. Too bad the site never took off. Strumey was a nice guy and a very good poker player.

Mensadolt, did you research how the government focked online poker to see how it relates to cc yet?

Reading this thread gives me that same feeling from 20 years ago when this young guy in a cheap suit walked up to me in a Wal-Mart parking lot and was going on and on about how I was going to be rich!@#!........ if I followed him in this thing called Amway.

I wonder what that dude is doing now. Probably living in Aspen or the Greek Isles I suppose.

They can't tax heroin either.

Have they shut it down?

Comparing crypto currency to heroin doesnt really bolster your argument for legitimacy

These days, analysts with decent reputations have predicted the cryptocurrency’s trading price could go as high as $50,000, $100,000, and even $1 million.

Bitcoin has gone straight up, we have articles like this all over the internet, and people(geeks) are buying bitcoin on leverage. We are going to either have some very rich geeks or some very disappointed ones.

Doesn't look like you can.

What is interesting to me is that the government likely wouldn't of been able to shut down these poker sites had they been conducting their transactions and payouts in Bitcoin. Let that sink in.

Made enough profit to cover my original investment and then some, went ahead and reclaimed my original money plus a little icing..

What is left = pure gravy.

I may eventually add more LTC and ETH on dips but, I like where I stand right now.

Thanks for the heads up 90's. You put substantial money in my pocket brother.

And that's why Strikeout didn't actually offer an argument, only stupidity.

I've yet to cash out but I'm curious......these two comments don't jive.

So you got back your seed money investment (net sum zero gain) plus a "little icicng"

So where did the "substantial" money in your pocket come from?

Um...because he grew his initial investment substantially enough that he pulled back that amount, plus some profit, and is allowing the rest to ride?

10k investment; grows to 20k. Pulls 11k out. Leaves 9k in to grow.

Like that.

Immensadildo,

No, swingandamiss, your argument asserted that what happened to US poker play as a result of US Government action has some applicability to this topic.

But it doesn't, and you can't make the connection. In fact, the opposite is true. What power the Gubmint exerted on overseas poker companies wrt US players would not have been possible had Bitcoin been the medium of exchange - and that's why I repeatedly asked for your argument describing how your 'cautionary tale' about poker has a single focking thing to do with this topic. Focking turd.

That 9K is not in his pocket sir, its in the "market".

Not trying to be an ass, I'm sorta thinking about doing the same, but his post didn't make sense. Unless in his "pocket" is some weird synonym for "left in the market"
