I don't like that the masses are going into the meme coin. I wish they picked something that was actually good, but whatever.

No I don't own any.

I have no idea.  It's a made up crypto.  The whole thing is weird.

Same as it is for every pump and dump. A few people get rich and everyone else holds the bag.

Do not buy Doge coin. If you do, don't hold it for long. Doge coin is an infinity coin. There is no limit to how much can be produced, unlike bitcoin.

It would be more balanced, but this is my gambling money and i like the higher upside of the alt coins.  My crypto account went from $14k to $32k this month and i only added $1k of funds, so right now i feel good about where things are.  I had about $4k in Bitcoin but i moved it to Aave.  I believe high-quality alt coins will outperform bitcoin for a while, although ETH could really pop and that is probably where new money will go.

I started getting into Chainlink at about $2-3 and it has been my favorite ever since. I added quite a bit in the $10-11 range.  If it really pops, and gets close to $100, i will probably move about half of it elsewhere like BTC or ETH.

I bought an NBA Topshot pack that will be available to me on Monday.  I still have doubts about the long term viability of this stuff, but this is still in BETA, the NBA is backing it, and some of the sales numbers I’ve seen are unreal.

In a nutshell, it’s a blockchain-based platform that allows fans to buy, sell and trade numbered versions of specific, officially-licensed video highlights.

If you like blockchain and sports, take a look

This is interesting. Not for me but I can see how people would want this. Are these officially licenced video?

Yes. Dapper Labs - CryptoKitties holds the NBA license for it.

I’m not a collector, but to me, this makes more sense than collecting a blockchain card, which also exists.  https://www.paniniamerica.net/blockchain/auction/blockchain-auction/dutch-auctions

Imagine owning the clip of the MJ slam dunk contest.   Or how about “the catch”, “the drive” “the butt fumble” Maris’ 61st in ‘61, or Nolan Ryan’s 7th no hitter?  The opportunities are endless.

According to Action Network, there have already been five sales on the global, open, peer-to-peer, always-on marketplace worth over $20,000 U.S. dollars, including a specific LeBron James highlight that recently sold for over $71,000.

So if I own the "the catch" do I receive royalties from people showing it? How do I generate value?

I've not see royalties addressed anywhere.  This is what their site says:

What can I do with these moments

You have true ownership of these moments, so there are no boundaries to what you can do.

Display your authenticity and depth of your fandom: Ownership records exist on the blockchain and are visible to anyone. You can show your level of fandom to friends and also find out if someone has really been the superfan, he’s claiming to be 🤔

Trade: There’s a secondary market for NBA TopShot moments which is getting bigger every day. Fans are actively buying, selling or swapping. Financial aspects are part and parcel of NBA TopShot. Be an astute collector and trader to generate profits. Mini-games and challenges on NBA TopShot encourage active participation and purchases of missing moments. We’ll cover more of this in future blog posts.

Is there only one "the catch"?

I assume "the catch" is owned by NFL properties and/or whatever network it aired on. NBA Topshot is current season clips and some of them are numbered from what I understand. So you might pull a Luka Doncic behind the back pass numbered 3/10 for example. When I referred to those classic clips, I'm thinking about the long term potential for all sports.  If this takes off, other sports will likely follow.  Even though I hate it, soccer probably has the biggest potential given it's worldwide appeal.  It's too bad boxing is irrelevant.  This could be big for the UFC.

What's the endgame here?   So a guy buys an "official" highlight vs some unofficial highlight that he can watch on youtube, what does he do with said "official" highlight?

Is there a long term need for basketball highlights that I'm not aware of?

EDIT: No one is going to own the rights to "The Catch" etc...other than NFL Films or NBC or whoever.

Bullion dealers have removed physical silver for sale in anticipation of huge spike Sunday night

I talked to a friend of a friend last night, who owns a precious metals store.  He said if the price of silver or gold spikes, the gold/silver buyers won't buy it because they know its going to drop shortly after.

LOL. So.... wait.  The price goes up, even the metal dealers don't want metal?  I thought people wanted it? But they are gonna refuse to buy it if it pops?

Gold's value a farce. No endgame. Just "shiny" and the common belief that is has value.  Same with diamonds.  Media/rhetoric/women/crime movies driving the price.
Silvers has been real so far.  It has an endgame.

If short sellers are forced to cover their positions with physical though there will be a huge short supply. If it goes to 50 I'll sell for 45 to cover it. Still up 125 percent

This just made me laugh out loud.  Not for this post, per se, but the repetitiveness, consistency and timing. You always show up with that same thing.   I've seen it probably 8 times.  Today was the straw that broke the horses back.

Nothing else other than "buy buy buy!" No other commentary, advice, naysaying or .02.

So Bitcoin is supposed to be finite, but you can mine for it.

Can somebody explain?

Its based on the blockchain idea of a coin, broken into bits.

If one of them bits shall fall, then there are even less bitcoins for all.

Get it?

Mining is supposed to be the incentive for people processing transactions.  You become part of the processing network and in exchange, you get bitcoin from mines.  It becomes harder and harder to get some by mining the more Bitcoin is mined because of the diminishing supply.

Once it becomes prohibitively expensive to get any by mining for it, they'll have to start paying people to process transactions or else the whole network will just crumble.
