Lower enlisted couldn't care less and will speak their minds freely when outside of uniform (or inside if they're with their close buddies only.) Or maybe it's true there too. Now that I think on it more, being honest and forthright with my observations did account for a lot the problems I was having in uniform.

No it was like that for enlisted as well. Had a couple of officer friends who thought the same thing. Mostly I hung out with enlisted but I still hunt out with officers. You're not "supposed to" but we still did. No one cared.
